Congratulations Beth on making LIFETIME...and for being at your all time low. I've been lurking alot lately and not contributing here at Kippy's . Sorry for that. I've been a little out of sorts with my own weight progress (or lack of) and havn't felt like I really was able to encourage anyone when I've been down on myself. Over the past several months I've juggled with my weight. I'd go up a couple, down one...up 2 down 1 and the end result is that I'm 10 over my personal goal and scary close to having to pay WW again. I refuse to let myself get to that point again. My self talk hasn't been very nice...but the other day I was remembering a conversation with a person that noticed my weight loss and she was very funny...my response was that I had worked very hard to get there and that phrase really hit home with me as I was remembering the conversation. I have worked too hard to get to my goal to let myself let it go... this was a very positive deep breath, I can do this moment. So wi Sat morning I am down 1.2 and feel back on track...however we went camping this weekend and I did snack more that usual, walked less that usual. But today I'm back to normal. I'm not going to post any goals for this challenge, but just take one day at a time and journal, journal, journal. HIHO Katie

I've been MIA, but lurking. Just wanted to say hey to everyone, welcome to the newbies, and congratulations to Beth on both Lifetime, and the 17-miler! Don't worry...you'll learn to ride & drink at the same time. Or get yourself a Camelbak hydration pack - a little easier to maneuver, especially on hot days when you need to drink more.
I'm doing well - maintaining about 5 pounds below goal at ~169, and hoping to do battle with the other 5 pounds that would put me into WW's goal range. I applied to work for WW about 6 weeks ago and haven't heard a word, so I'm a little annoyed!

Boy, it sounds like ww needs to get their polite act together even beyond the snarky receptionists I've encountered. You'd think they'd be DELIGHTED at the interest of successful, bright, articulate lifetimers, just like Cathy/Girly, in Vita and Beth.
I'm back from the big apple, was so glad to be there. Put in 5 miles minimum each day, starting with 30-60 minutes of real cardio...speedy walking in the park... and then adding regular walking to that. But despite that my scale view this am was not good, i dread weigh in tomorrow. I wonder if dinners at my fave Indian, Mexican and French restos, significant unches, and bialys for breakfast has anything to do with that??!!
Oh well, I'm off for a (HOT) run now...
Hang in there everyone!

well, as anticipated I did have a gain this week but given how much I ate in NY... and frankly it was A LOT... I'm counting my blessings on a 0.2 gain. I'm getting back into the swing of things eating wise, altho' today has been quirky, and have been exercising even in this brutal, disgusting, humid, heat (early in the morning is the only option... tomorrow I'm going for my run BEFORE 6:30 am -- ugh!!) I'm pretty sure the exercising in NY saved me from a worse gain.
Here's to a new WW week and better results!
Hope you are all staying cool, temperature-wise (because you are all already totally cool customers, personality-wise!! ;D)

Hi, everyone -- a little quiet on this challenge but it is Hee hee!! ;D ;D ;D I'm one of the weird ones who loves the heat of summer and humidity doesn't bother me either LOL. I stayed the same last night...I feel very lucky. I will have to add a mini-challenge for myself to lose 4 lbs. by the end of July...doesn't fit in with this challenge but it helps for me to write it down. Have a great weekend!

Guess what not tracking all week, sneaking a here and there chip or cracker, desserts on Father's Day, Whole Foods tuna & chicken salad and not as much exercise will get you? A 1.8 pound gain - that's what! It's okay, I was really expecting a gain. Our best friends had a baby this week so it was not a "normal" week and next week we will be helping them out a lot with a move into their new house so that may not be "normal" either. However, I plan on tracking and working out as much as I can. I squeezed in a 30 minute walk/run at the high school track today and would love to spin tomorrow morning if it is in the cards. On a positive note - I did get my Lifetime key at the meeting today and everyone was so sweet and supportive there. I love my meeting, it's a great group. My leader is actually coming here for dinner on Sunday with her family - we've been good friends which is nice.
Sulee, Vita & Cathy - way to go on maintaining! These summer weekends are tough so it's great everyone is hanging in there.
Have a great weekend!
-Beth

Hi all-
Seems I may have plantar fastcitis, a.k.a. heel pain. I hope to get in to see a podiatrist tomorrow. I went spinning yesterday and the part of the class I was sitting was fine, just the part standing was a little uncomfortable. I hope I'll be able to continue to cycle and maybe do some other machines at the gym. I'm not sure what can be done though to help the pain, perhaps an anti-inflamatory or something. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'd love to hear any suggestions.
Our weekend has been nice and fairly low-key. Having some friends over for dinner tonight but I kept it easy and bought pre-made shish-kabobs to throw on the grill and some premade side sadads so I'm not really doing any cooking.
Hope everyone had a nice weekend!
-Beth

Hey Beth, I feel your pain... not currently, but in the past I had trouble with plantar fas.... Ice, ibuprophen, really good shoes, gentle specific exercises (my podiatrist suggested them) time. If I had a problem with it now I would probably ask my Chiropractor about it. I'm very impressed with the concept of chiro. I've made a decision... I am going to lose 15lbs. I hadn't put a number on it, but knew I needed to work on getting back to my personal goal. 15 puts me at 5 below my personal goal and closer to WW standards. I feel really good about this and have had a great weekend. I was down another 1 at wi Saturday and really feel back in the game. It didn't hurt that I had the chance to sing Core praises at my new meeting this week either. A couple of women who have had great success on Flex have hit a plateau and I suggested trying core to shake things up a bit. I'm journaling everything I eat this week including recipes to give to them next week. Man does that keep me on track and honest. But it feels so good. Have a great day everyone Katie

Hi Gang,
It's downright sleepy around here. I know I'm spending less time online thus less time posting here. I hope everyone is doing well!
Yay for you Katie for making a new commitment to yourself. Ouch on the PF, Beth. I put some suggestions in your journal! Good for you Cathy for loving the heat and humidity. I HATE it and get super mad at myself wishing days away.
Hang in there everyone. I have been struggling to not eat like I'm on vacation! I have been keeping up with running and walking and dancing but cheesy paninis are not exactly core!

not committing quite yet BUT in the contemplation phase of what to commit to on June 1. Core, Flex, Exchanges, Mayo Clinic exchange type diet or??? My brother and his family were here for two weeks during all of the hulabaloo in the country and we still managed to get out to see most of the places that were not busy fighting. Mom stayed on and we have been suffering through a major and unusual heat wave with no known end in sight. Hubby returned from a week away and will leave agin on June 1...we may celebrate our 29th anniversary while he is home. Anyway...thinking of committing to SOMETHING on June 1...and if it is Core will be posting here more often in the future I would LOVE to get back to goal before I take mom back to the USA November 13...for many reasons...but...time will tell whether or not that goal can be accomplished even if I commit to staying with a program for the long haul. Oh! Goal is 145 or less and I now weigh 177 (urgh) Cathy in Fih, Lebanon

Holy Guacamole... we are a quiet bunch! I was super p.o'd on Thursday when i gained 2.8 pounds at weigh in. I know why the gain was so dramatic having eaten out the night before. And my week in general was not particularly virtuous. So I never gave up the ghost, altho' I am seriously considering stopping the meetings again. I REALLY dislike the pedantic, nursery school teacher attitude of the leader. ('so what are we going to do today, kids, to make sure we stay in our points,' with a sing songy little voice! 'Have we bought our smoothies and other goodies from ww yet today??' ) Luckily I won't BE here for meetings for the next few weeks so i can decide more proactively when i get back. Anyway, I've really increased the veggies, especially at dinner. reintroduced salad for the summer ( i really prefer my veggies cooked), said yes to increasing my exercise, and have generally watched points within the framework of core eating. I leave for a gig tomorrow and totally plan to stick with the plan, and I plan to stay with the plan when i return for a few days before going away again. The next 2 months are going to be pretty uncentered, home-base-wise but that doesn't mean i need to get all freaked out. I am determined to be thinner. I think i'll still be computer attached through my travels so I'll stay in touch. hang in there my friends!

Hi ladies-
Glad to see a post here every so often! Guess the summer has everyone busy.
Nothing exciting to report. My plantar fastitis is getting a bit better. Last week at the podiatrist i got a steroid shot in my heel and orthotics in my shoes and I go back for a check next week. If I have a crazy day and am doing a lot of running around it definitely feels tender by the end of the day. I did go spinning yesterday but because camp for DS starts close to 10:00 making a 9:30 spin class has been challenging except for the weekends. I've been doing the recumbant bike at the gym in the afternoons - not a real high intensity workout but at least it's something. I'm going to wait a bit before trying the elliptical although I think that would probably be okay. And tomorrow I think I'll do an actual bike ride since the weather here is in the 70s and gorgeous. Luckily the bike is not putting any pressure on my heel so I can still get in some cardio.
We have no big plans for the 4th which is fine by me. Fireworks and BBQ tomorrow night and parade on Wednesday. I didn't make it to WI last Friday but I will this week. The highlight of the week will be seeing The Police at Wrigley Field on Thursday night! I am more than excited.
Keep on keepin' on ladies - we can do this. Have a safe and happy holiday!
-Beth

Maybe our new 'challenge' should be just to post!
I returned from the British Columbia yesterday and MAN! it is beeeuuuutiful! Had a great time, walked or ran quite a bit every day, in addition to dancing, so luckily my daily morning croissant and mocha (skim milk... a TINY saving grace) didn't do too much damage. (in fact according to my scale, I lost weight!) I'm still deciding whether to go back to the meeting next week, tho' the point may be moot as I might leave again next week for the other coast!
Hope you all are doing great, staying out of the blistering heat, if you live in an area experiencing this heatwave and enjoying life!
