Would it be ok to start the challenge this late? I'm having an awful time getting restarted on Core, and these challenges helped me stay focused last year.

Welcome to the Challenge, Tanya. Never too late to join the fun. Okay so I'm reporting back on the raw/live foods place. I treated myself after the chiropractors (school's out next week, so this was my last hurrah, so to speak). I had the lasagna, which consisted of very thin layers of raw eggplant, but so thin and marinated it didn't taste or feel raw. The filling was an almond paste with raw marinara, garlic, and basil, and the cheese was some sort of nut butter. It came with a side of salad (spring mix with red peppers and avocado, lightly dressed with oil and I don't know what else). They had no cashew ice cream on hand, so I had a slice of carob orange mousse for dessert, which was very rich and delicious. In fact, both items were rich, and––despite my lumberjack's appetite––together too heavy ("I can't believe I ate the whole thing!"). Two hours later it was still sitting in my stomach. Next time I'll get a lighter entree so I actually have room for dessert. While this food is vegan and organic and all that good stuff, it's certainly not Core. Nuts are staples for protein. So, while a raw/live foodist would be able to maintain a healthy weight, this omnivore is counting points. 20. It may be overkill, but with all those nuts I'll play it safe. Worked 6 of it off with a brutal spinning class.

Thanks for the welcome! For now I'm just focusing on sticking with it, and not giving up when the scale stops moving. *sigh*
That raw veggie lasagne sounds delicious. I used to work near a place that did an all-veg lasagne (with zucchini for pasta), but it wasn't completely raw. How was the almond paste with that? Did it make it marzipan-y?

i wrote a post that disappeared...
the short version is welcome to Susie and Tanya, excitement for Beth at tomorrow's lifetime achievement, Yeah to Beth and Cathy on the weekend tendencies towards excess, both solid and liquid in my case as well. Empathy to Karen re the "Lumberjack" appetite... guess my dad wore suspenders and a bra too! (monty python reference.... he didn't really, as far as I know!)
I did manage to lose 1.8 this week for a total of 5.6. Got a star!
We can do this with this fabulous posse at our sides. Let's hear it for Kippy's! You all rock!

Hi Everybody!
Can I sneak back in here with you all? I've been way too busy lately--taking care of my kids and neglecting myself...sound familiar?
It's good to be home in my own little nest--and lots of good CORE foods in the cupboards.
I'm not going to make any lofty goals...just take it a day at a time and CORE. I need to go back to my meetings too.
My gif host has expired so I need to get it updated...otherwise no fun pictures for me!
Love to all..
Sandy

Hi Sandy. We missed you!! Tanya, the texture of the almond paste wasn't marzipan-y at all, not sticky clay-y like that, more of a course grind, but not gritty, and it was very garlicky, very flavorful. Sulee, funny you mention Monty Python because we have been getting those from Netflix. Remember the philosophy drinking song and the olympics for incompetents? Forget modern TV, we're rearing our kids on the good stuff keep on keepin' on everyone. I did great today until dinner. Glad days end and new ones begin.

MADE LIFETIME TODAY!!!!!!!!!!
And I'm at an all-time low weight with a loss today of 1.2 which I was really surprised at, actually. I was kind of expecting a gain.
Anyway, I'm excited. I will celebrate at my meeting next week since I wasn't able to stay today.
I absolutely could not have done it without the support of my Kippy pals. So - thank you, thank you, thank you!
Love you guys!
-Beth

Oh Beth!!! That is AWESOME NEWS! You go girl!
Girlie Purple---you're doing great too! And THANK YOU everyone for the warm welcome back.
I had such a good day today. It feels good to be back with you all. I had oatmeal for breakfast and a salad for lunch with fresh strawberries. (I ate a few little candies, but not too bad.)
Still haven't had dinner yet, but last night I had chicken breast with brown rice & mixed oriental veggies.
I finally got on the scale, and it's not as bad as I imagined. I've gained 5 lbs.
Right now the weight is secondary to re-establishing a good steady routine for myself. I need to get breakfast earlier. ...and drink more water. Oh...why does it seem so hard sometimes?

Thanks for your good wishes guys! Susie - did you have trouble sleeping?
I have been coerced by my 2 male neighbors to do a 6 a.m. bike ride. Not really coerced, it sounded like fun at the time until I realized I was crazy! But it's 5:45 - I'm sucking down some coffee and an energy bar and hopefully you'll hear from me again! My neighbor told me this is a 17 mile route - I asked him how many miles he thought was in a typical 1 hour spin class and he thought about the same so hopefully I'll be okay.
Hope everyone has had a great day and has a great Father's Day if you are celebrating with family today. We are heading to Great America!

How did it go, Beth? Tell your tale....what did you find most challenging, spinning or actually biking?! I'm so impressed.
Well folks, I'm gonna push it. I want to make my personal goal by July 2, as that's when I fly out east for a family visit.

Well - I survived the 17-mile 6 a.m. bike ride! It was fun. In some ways it was easier than spinning because of the cool breeze at 6:00 a.m. and being able to coast a bit. But harder because I'm not skilled enough to stand and ride like you do with spinning and also because I'm not coordinated enough to drink water and ride! But it was great - I enjoyed it and definitely intend to do it again. It took 75 minutes so I'm sure it was 5-6 APs or so. Then we went to Great America for 4 hours and then to family for a BBQ and swimming. Needless to say we are all exhausted!
Tomorrow is Monday - back to business. I plan to do cardio Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and yoga on Thursday. DS starts camp tomorrow and we are seeing a concert tomorrow night.
The weather is great and I'm looking forward to a great week! Hope you all have one also.
-Beth
