Crock Pot Rotisserie Chicken
1 whole chicken spray olive oil Lawry's seasoned salt -no substitutes Aluminum foil
Crockpot rotisserie chicken Clean chicken inside and out. Spray with olive oil spray. Sprinkle with Lawry's. Spray inside of crock with Pam. Note: Do not put any water in the crock. Roll 3 or 4 wads of aluminum foil into 2”-3” balls and put them in the bottom of the crock. The chicken is going to sit on these. Place chicken breast side down in crock on top of aluminum balls. (The chicken breast sits on the aluminum balls, for the simple fact that the natural juices drain to the bottom of the pot, so with the breast on the bottom the juices stay in the breast instead of draining from the breast keeping the breast super moist!)
Cook on High (will not come out the same on low), 4-6 hours. (3lb. chicken took 4 hours)
You have to use the aluminum to get the deli taste. This chicken tastes very close to one you would buy, precooked, in the deli section of your supermarket
**NOTE** wrap a potato in foil and place them in the bottom of the crock pot to make the foil balls, then you have both chicken and potatoes cooked to perfection!
My own note: We did this, and because we used a smaller crockpot, we didn't put potatoes in the pot. But it comes out wonderfully!

This sounds wonderful! I've always been afraid to cook a whole chicken, but this would be a quick, easy, and tasty way to do it. I'll be trying this tomorrow!

It really is good. And since there's just the two of us, we had enough leftover to do something else. I think the first time we made this, we actually did 2 crockpots (cooking 2 chickens...they're so cheap at Sam's), and shredded the leftovers to put on salads, in couscous, etc.

As I promised to report -- I can't believe how delicious this turned out! I was prepared for okay...even good. But it's really good. The bird was so tender it fell apart when I tried to take it out of the crockpot (cooked for 5 hours on high). As for the seasonings, the entire bird was seasoned. It wasn't one of those cases where the outside meat is seasoned and the bigger breast area is a bit dry. Nope, the whole bird tasted the same way. Also -- I used Lawry's Seasoned Salt with Black Pepper. I figured that wouldn't be too much variation from the original, as it's still Lawry's Seasoned Salt. But yes, definitely a tasty dish. I saved the juices, bones, and leftovers and will be making a chicken & barley stew later tonight to freeze. Thanks for the new dish!

I tried this as well.
The chicken turned out perfect!
The pototoes were so-so..still seemed a little hard. I think I will stick with good ol' fashioned baked potatoes from the oven next time.

I will try this this weekend. It sounds yummy! I never bought a whole chicken before. I'm afraid it's too much like Thanksgiving!

Whole chickens are cheap. And not nearly as big as turkeys. You shouldn't have a problem at all.
We can get 2 chickens at Sams for about $5 or $6.

A whole baked chicken is my family's all time favorite way to eat chicken! I can't wait to try this foil/crock method, I've always just backed them in the oven. Thanks for the tip on getting them from Sam's, I've never noticed that they have them - and we probably shop at the same Sam's BlondieKate since I think I read where you are from CR, IA. I'm only about 45 minutes from there.

Wow, 2 chickens for $5?? Thank goodness I didn't buy the one at my regular grocery store today. It was like $7 for just one! I was like...uh. I think I'll wait to try that crockpot chicken. I'll have to hit up Sam's this weekend. Thanks so much for the tip!

Okay, so I tried the chicken today. It was great! The chicken just falls off the bones. Yum! My son loved it, too! Thanks for the great recipe.

I am a rebel Tell me no substitutes and well ... what do I go and do? hehe I substitute, so in 4 hours or so I'll be back to tell you how my chicken came out. I used a Hog's breath saloon seasoning blend I bought when I was down in Key West this summer. *keeping fingers crossed* Patti
