Ok the verdict is in! BlondieKate I just wanted to say THANK YOU! This recipe was awesome and came out wonderful, even though I used my other seasoning blend. This is definitely a keeper. patti

Do you think the chicken will be as good with the breast side up? That's how I put my bird in the pot this morning...oops! I'm sure it will be fine, but probably not quite as good.

I am having the chicken for lunch today. Wow. It is even better the next day. I am so glad I heard about this recipe. My son had some yesterday and asked for seconds. We had chicken wraps, basically. I had some romaine lettuce, put some of the chicken inside, avocado slices, ff sour cream and ff cheese. Delish. Sounds weird, but it was good. I think I will cook up the other chicken (I followed the advice and bought 2 at Sam's, except they're a little bit more expensive here. They were $7 or $8, but still a good deal) sometime this week. I love this board!

What size crockpot are you using? Will a whole chicken fit in a 4 quart one?

I have a 6 quart crockpot, but there was plenty of space around my chicken. I guess if you buy a chicken that isn't huge it will fit. Patti

I have a small 2.5 qt. crockpot, and I just buy a really small chicken. The first time I made it, I had to cut the little guy's tail off as it was sticking out. I felt like an animal abuser!

Thanks for the tip on getting them from Sam's, I've never noticed that they have them - and we probably shop at the same Sam's BlondieKate since I think I read where you are from CR, IA. I'm only about 45 minutes from there. Yeppers, I'm from CR! And the Sam's here is the only game in town! Loving hearing all your sucesses with this. I have to admit, though, the recipe isn't mine. I got it long ago, and really don't remember where.

I just put one in my crockpot and didn't have Lawry's seasoned salt, only McCormick. So I hope I get the same yummy result. And it barely fit in my crockpot. I'll let you all know how it comes out with McCormick brand.

I have a dumb question.
You leave the skin on the chicken while it's cooking and remove it after it's done, right? I really want to try this recipe, but I want to do it right.

Patty- Got your pm on this too, but wanted to share my answer with everyone else.
What I did the last couple times I made it was cut all the skin off the breast. That's the easiest part to skin anyhow, I think. If you rub a little oil on the breast, it'll be plenty juicy. Especially if you put the breast side down, like it says. Also, I don't like to leave the skin on, because I don't like to flavor something that's going to be thrown out.

Made this last night, using Lawry's--my 8 y.o. son, mojo picky, says "Is that yummy smell coming from OUR apt.?" And then, as he ate it, said "you know how uncle bill's roast chicken is the best in the world? there is now a tie."!!
thanks a bunch!--julie

By the way, folks, if you enjoy this recipe, you really should try the garlic-lime chicken I also posted. That one, I know who gave me the recipe, and I tweaked it just a touch to make it Core (subbed white rice with brown).
