Can someone please clarify chicken size and cooking time. A fryer is about 3 lbs and a roaster maybe 6. So how long on high and low for each size?
Hope to try this out this week.

Cook on High (will not come out the same on low), 4-6 hours. (3lb. chicken took 4 hours)

I made this today..DH says it was fantastic! I'll have some tomorrow for lunch. I cooked it on high for 6 hours and the meat was falling off the bone, very tender and moist. Try it, you'll love it!

I made this only used a whole bone-in turckey breast. Cooked on high about 5 hours. Fantastic. Wrapped potatoes in foil and had a great meal with leftovers.

I made it too, and it's definitely a keeper! And love how the fat all drips to the bottom and I don't have to deal with it. I removed the skin, but there's always still a little fat left on the meat.
DF loved it - we had it with (I think it was arkansan's) coucous dressing, which was awesome! Check it out under the side dishes and whole grains section - I liked it WAY better than with bread. Bread is kind of touchy, I think, and it was always hit or miss at my mom's thanksgivings to see if the stuffing would turn out good or gummy or dry - and she's a really good cook.
So I recommend that! Next time I'll get a bigger bird so I have lots leftover for salads during the week.

Well it's 97 degrees today in Northern New Jersey and I'm just sticking my chicken in the crockpot so it'll be done for dinner...and it won't heat up the house. We love this recipe!

I may be late to the party, but I finally made this recipe. I figured it would be good, but couldn't possibly live up to 4 pages of rave reviews. I was wrong. It was good, and deserves 10 pages of rave reviews! Looking forward to the leftovers tomorrow!

I know, ema - I was wondering myself how something so simple could produce so many reviews! Then I tried it

Has anyone ever tried it with chicken pieces? My crock pot is a smaller round one, instead of the oval kind....but I really want to try it. Maybe if I put the breasts upside down at the bottom with all the other pieces piled on top? Suggestions anyone? PS: Do you leave the skin until AFTER it is cooked, or pull it off before? FORGET ALL OF THE ABOVE!!....Forgive me, please. I am new to the board and just figured out how to see all the pages of replies to the post....now all my questions are answered and I need to go buy a chicken!!

I haven't tried it with pieces, but I'd be curious to see how it comes out. I don't like anything but white meat, so it's a waste to cook a whole chicken for me. Maybe you can buy one of those whole breasts? I have roasted them in the oven, and they come out great. Anyway, try it and let us know.
Oh, and leave the skin on when it cooks; peel it off before eating.

I have used just breasts several times I just cut back the cooking time to 3 hours or so. Also this is a great way to cook a whole Turkey breast. I cook a Turkey breast 4 hours at least.
