hellooo challengers.
congrats to all the losers and maintainers and stick-to-it-er's-even-in-the-face-of gain!! I'm in the middle category and see it as an irritating gift! I did not deserve a loss this week but sure get mad at myself when i don't see one and it's ALL about making cruddy choices.
i've been in a personal funk for a few weeks and am actually starting to see things looking up. my suspicion is that may help the scale to go down.
I took a tiny gig teaching pilates on saturday mornings at a GORGEOUS spa-type club for woman where i get a membership just for teaching 1 hour a week! i have a strong sense that will motivate me to get over there and exercise more. my present gym is across from my office yes, but working out beside my students, (hey, why did i just get a 'c' on that paper? etc) is NOT motivating me to pop over and hop on the elliptical!!
good luck to you all. seems like eveyone is posting less, me included, and i hope that everyone is feeling ok.

Hi everyone! I'm taking Cathy's suggestion and coming over to this board! Thanks, Cathy! I'd like to join in the challange! (If it's not too late).
I would like to:
1. Lose 8-10 lbs by 12/31; and, 2. Get to the gym no less than 4x per week.
I'm looking forward to this!!

Cris – It sounds like you’ve found what works for you re: food planning. I wish I could figure that out!
Katie – WTG on the loss!
Sulee – Sounds like a great new gym! I’m sure you’ll take advantage of the amenities!
I go to my first WW meeting tomorrow. Doing it online just isn’t working for me anymore. I regained my 1.5 loss, plus .5 more. So tomorrow I’ll report a new starting weight and start fresh. I’m actually excited about being accountable to someone other than just myself – hopefully that will motivate me to stay on track.

Welcome Barney! It's never too late to join and we still have several weeks left to this challenge. Glad you're with us.
Sulee - good luck with your new class. Try spinning at your new gym! I am loving it.
Amanda - good luck with your meeting. I find meetings to be one of my weekly highlights and I really look forward to them regardless of the number on the scale. I hope it brings you motivation and support and maybe some new friends.
Kate - congrats on a great loss this week if I didn't already say that.
I am excited to post a 3.2 lb. loss and hitting the 30 pound mark today! It was definitely a bigger loss than expected but I gained over 2 pounds last week and I think some of that may have been salt related. I was going in today feeling like I was ready to throw in the towel so I was pleasantly surprised.
I will do my best to repost the goals & update results sometime this weekend.
Hope everyone has a happy and Coreiffic weekend!
-Beth

Sul, the teaching gig sounds wonderful along with the spa membership. I'm not surprised that working out with your students isn't very appealing. I wouldn't want to either. Sounds like the new place is just the ticket. Amanda, I love my meetings. I'm only required to go once a month now for maintaining, but I go every week, partly just to see my friends there. Barney, great to have you here. We love to welcome in new friends. Beth, WOW 3.2 lbs and 30lbs gone. Congratulations. Now go to your local store and pick up a couple of bags of dog food that equal 30lbs and FEEL how heavy they are. Awesome for you!!! HIHO everyone. Katie

GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!!! Isn't this a great place to start off a new week? I had a pretty munchy weekend. Poor choices that I made, using circumstances as an excuse. I'm very much a "bored" eater and also a "I have suffered so now I deserve chocolate" eater. So my enthusiasm for this place on a Monday morning is to set a new start and be in control. It's wonderful to know that all the support and understanding I need is right here at the click of a mouse. Thanks Beth for posting the update and have a safe trip. I know you are facing a difficult visit. My prayers are with you and your family. I won't have WI this week because my meeting is on Thursday and of course the meeting site is closed. This doesn't freak me out like it used to. Have a GREAT day everyone and HIHO Katie

Good morning, everyone!! Barney - Glad to see you over here! ;D Kate - yeah for the loss!! Beth - congrats on loss and 30 lbs.!! Amanda - the WW meetings are great. I love it here but I need to go to my meeting even though I only have to WI once a month too. I missed last week and I feel weird! I may not be able to go this Wed. either and I'm like oh no!! LOL Sulee - HIHO you are doing great. HEY everyone else -- hope you had a good weekend and let's all have a wonderful 3 days and I hope everyone gets a long 4 day weekend to relax with family/friends, maybe shop, pack away some leftovers in the freezer, hope the weather is nice wherever you are so you can get some outdoor exercise in .... it's not about eating but about giving thanks for all we have (including enough food ) ...but we have alot more than food to be thankful for! I did "OK" this past week, got all my water, GHG and exercise in although I can't say my eating has been perfect it's not been bad...all clothes still fit and that's my indicator sooo.. Have a great day/week!

Susie here for my weekly check in. This morning was weigh day. I lost 1.8 pounds for a total of 3.4 pounds in 2 weeks. I am very pleased with this slow loss because I've never tried Core before and have been leary of it. Still eating in restaurants comfortably and it seems to be working. Good luck to you all and have a sane and enjoyable Thanksgiving!

Good morning (almost afternoon here in Chicago!) I only joined the challenge on Saturday, but I will say that I did NOT get to the gym 4+ times last week, and I will not likely get there 4+ times this week b/c I am going out of town on Wednesday. I did, however, get there this morning, and I will walk with my mom over the holiday, so I plan to count that! I am meeting my family in Florida, so we will have nice weather to get outside and walk in the sunshine I don't WI at meetings, I've only done WW online, but I've always had Saturday morning as my "official" WI day. I go to the gym, come home and WI on the same scale I've always used. It's all very primitive over here! I'm also a bit nuts about weighing myself every day. I've always been that way. Since I was always successful, it kept me on track and motivated. When I started gaining, it should have worked the other way, but alas, it did not! I can say, however, that I am down 1 lb! I don't "officially" count it since it's not my WI day, but this morning, I was down a pound Now, that's a way to start a Monday! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone! My best to all of your friends and families. Barney

Beth – Wow, congrats on that loss! That’s huge! You’re right, I did really enjoy the meeting (despite my start weight being the highest ever). I’m looking forward to a loss this week.
Cathy – What a nice Thanksgiving message. Thanks for reminding us what it’s all about. J
Susie – Yea for the loss! What are you eating at restaurants? That’s my biggest Core issue.
Barney – That’s a good “unofficial” start to the week!

Hi Amanda. When I eat at restaurants, I usually go for the ones that have a salad bar like Ruby Tuesdays, Hoss's, Golden Corral, etc. I'll stick to 'real' veggies and use either their fat free dressing or drizzle a little olive oil or vinegar on my salad. I also add garbanzo beans or any other clean beans (not covered in mayo or other fat). I'll also share a steak and plain baked potato with my husband. Dessert is fruit - grapes, melons or whatever is on the salad bar. This is very satisfying and I am content and not stuffed when I'm finished and I don't feel 'yuck' like I do when I've loaded up on grease and sweets. I hope this helps!

susie, great loss and what a wonderful restaurant plan. I'll have to keep it in mind. I think your weight loss rate at this point is FANTASTIC. WW says that 1 to2 lbs a week is the best rate for healthy weight loss. You are doing wonderfully.
Barney, that is a great way to start the week. Have a wonderful time in Florida with your family.
Amanda, I'm glad you enjoyed the meeting. I think there is a tremendous advantage of standing on the scale in front of someone else, and of course the one on one support.
For those of you that are traveling for the Holiday and won't be able to check in throughout the weekend. Have a Wonderful, restfull Thanksgiving. Take care Katie

I haven't had time to check in for a few days. I'm eating reasonably and walking or doing a Couch-to-5K workout almost every day. I'm going to check out an all women's gym in my neighborhood that advertised a special promotional pricing for the next 2 weeks. I'm nervous about the fine print, but realize I'm not likely to keep up the outdoor walking/running as the real winter weather hits, and it will hit soon.
We don't do much of a thanksgiving thing, and while I miss it having grown up with the whole traditional Thanksgiving family thing, I'm happy to have one major food challenge pass me by. Especially now, while I'm so struggling to get back on track and want to be moving back in the neighborhhod of my goal weight, not three clunks on the scale away.
Any one else remember those traditional doctor's office scales that they used to use at WW meetings? The sliders bars were covered for the member's privacy, so you couldn't see your weight as the weigher weighed you. The top bar had a little slider that moved smoothly along the bar and measured single lbs in 1/4 lb fractions and a bigger weight on the bottom row that clunked for 10 lb increments. When you'd drop down 10 lbs, you'd know it, as the weigher would have to slide the little bar to the back to the high end of the bar and clunk! you'd hear the bottom bar move down a 10 lb increment. It was a great sound! Just makes me realize how long I've been fighting this battle and proud of my persistence.

I weighed in early because I'm travelling, and am up 2.6. I journalled well, but didn't get my veggies in consistently. I think I'm entitled to relax about the gain, though. On Sunday, I had a bike crash that knocked me unconscious for a couple of minutes. (A kid on a bike suddenly swerved in front of me; I braked and went over the handlebars.) I woke up with a paramedic leaning over me. CATscan and multiple x-rays were negative, and the only thing I broke was my helmet. However, I'm swollen, bruised, achy, scraped, cut, and annoyed that I can't work out for a while. Vicodin is my new best friend. I'll also be avoiding the Thanksgiving photo ops! My family insisted I eat pizza after spending 5 hours in the ER (I was famished!) and so I did. It tasted great . Anyway, it just reminds me that it could have been a lot worse, and that I have a lot to be thankful for. Have a safe and blessed Thanksgiving with those you love, all.
