Hi All,
Yesterday was terrible for me. I had to put my dear cat of 13 yrs to sleep. He had cancer in his liver and lymph nods. My kids are young so it is a bit difficult for them to understand what happened. But DS cried his eyes out that he did not get to say goodbye. I feel so bad about that. I just didn't think it would affect him that way. A friend from work gave me a double chocolate sundae to help numb the pain.
I am doing better today but it's a bit quieter in the house. It just does not feel the same.
I am up .3 but it's not important. The depression has been hitting me and I don't have much of an appetite. I made myself get on the treadmill to walk last night. I know the exercise will help with the depression and that life will go on. DS is already asking if we can have a new cat that looks just like Alex did.
I know everyone is feeling the post holiday relief. I week can only get better right?

Pam,
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your dear pet cat. It is so hard. We lost our family dog this past winter, we had him for over 15 years. I still miss him.
Our weather has been cold here in Oklahoma too. I am not doing well getting back on track. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day--COREwise.
Sandy

I'm sorry Pam, our pets are a big part of our lives and we do miss them when they are gone.
We also got lots of snow and wind. Not unusual for us to have a storm like that in April though. My sis's b-day is the 22'nd, and there has been snow on or around her birthday many many times. I keep making bad choice after bad choice. I will go to Wi tonight and keep on plugging away. I just need to get my attitude back in the game. HIHO Katie

Pam - my condolences for your loss. I'm sure you're being a strong person for your kids which can be stressful when you're sad as well. Hang in there.
Sounds like we are all having some eating struggles these days. Besides TOM coming on Tuesday I'm actually feeling like I had a decent week. I've been able to spin 3 times this week and with treadmill on Monday and yoga today that puts me at 20 APs for the week. Hopefully the scale will show a loss but I never know how TOM will affect things. My spin class yesterday was a killer, there's no way I could do hard cardio today even if I wanted to. I'm glad my yoga class is Thursday afternoons, it's a nice ending to the week.
Tonight I think we're going out for lobster for dinner, one of my favorite foods and guilt-free (I don't use any butter so that makes it easy for me). However having lived within an hour of Maine for several years when we were in Massachusetts I am a little spoiled because it certainly isn't the same to have lobster here in Chicago.
I've been up since 4:30 today, DS woke up about something and I woke up with a pounding headache. That is gone, but I never fell back to sleep. It will be a nice day today with a haircut this morning and yoga this afternoon. The weather is gloomy and rainy but yesterday's snow is washing away which is good.
Hope everyone has a good day - BE GOOD TO YOURSELVES.
-Beth

Down 1.6 today at WI - WOO HOO. Less than two pounds from goal. Lots and lots of APs this week definitely helped, I will shoot for the same for next week.
Tomorrow I have an afternoon tea downtown that I am hosting along with some other family members. I have already tasted the food that will be there as we had to sample the menu so I will try and keep tasting tomorrow to a minimum. We ordered a big fruit tray as well.
Today is in the mid-50s and sunny, I'm making chicken, peppers and potatoes on the grill for dinner - YUMMY.
Just made rice krispie treats with DS and had several tastes - hopefully not too many points!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
-Beth

Hey BETH!! Good for you!
Losing 1.6 lbs.!!!! I'm off on my trip to D.C. tomorrow morning to visit my daughter. My weight is holding the same, and I've been very bad about not eating my 8 GH guidelines. This is interesting. A good feeling to not be bouncing back up at the slightest infraction from CORE.

I see it was a pretty quiet weekend here on the boards. I worked the whole weekend and wasn't able to log on. We had absoutely beautiful weather. Perfect sunshine and the temps are going up. I have today off and the weather is supposed to hold. YIPPEE. My plan is to get my bike out for the maiden voyage. I'll go for a short ride uptown to have coffee with DSIL. My wi Thursday was up as I suspected. But I had a good Core plus countable wpa over the weekend. Today will be good also. I can't wait until the seasonal candy is gone. We have one whole section that is seasonal candy from Halloween through Easter. For some reason it is very hard for me to resist those prettily packaged candies. Especially after the holiday when it is all on clearance. I had a couple of women asking me Core questions at my last meeting. That always helps to motivate me I've been doing a good job of journaling my food here at home, and that helps also Congratulations Beth on your great loss. You are amazing. Take care everybody and have a GREAT day Katie

Katie - I hope you enjoy that bike ride! My men took a little spin around the neighborhood yesterday and little one was so excited. Supposedly next weekend should be in the 70s here. It was interesting that my spinning instructor said that spinning season will be officially over since everyone will want to be outside exercising instead of inside.
Well, I did "taste" much more at the tea than I wanted to for sure but I subtracted an additional 20 points and have moved on. I had a whole game plan: I ate cottage cheese and pineapple before going, had a Fiber One bar in my purse, brought a big bottle of water. I still ate scones, cheesecake, chicken salad, etc.! We did order a fruit tray as well so I had a lot of that too. It actually was a lovely afternoon.
Sunday morning I went spinning and we had a few B-day parties. DS's first soccer game of the season was canceled because of field conditions - BUMMER! Next week should be perfect conditions though if it continues to warm up.
I'm going to kickboxing today! Hope everyone has a good Monday!

Hey All,
I finally got my eating under control by the end of the week and had a great weekend. I did WI and I am down a bit (total 1.6 lbs since starting the challenge). I was so excited. First thing I did upon signing on was update my ticker.
Do you guys mind if I change my goal a bit? It was a quiet weekend so I did some reading on the board. I would like to include mindfull eating each day to my goals. It's something I have been lacking and I would like to work on making a natural habit.

Finally got my primary computer back home up and running. Was pretty tough sharing with the kids for 10 days!
I have done well so far on my challenge: My goals: check in at least 3 times a week-- DONE THAT! exercise at least 3 times a week--Got in two, but it was a short week, and have plans for three this week go to a meeting at least every 2 weeks--Went to a meeting yesterday eat 2 fruits and 2 veggies a day--so far, so good stop eating before I feel stuffed--so far, so good most meals Lose some weight--any amount is OK, so long as I stop gaining!--TUNE IN NEXT WEEK! I can't go to a full meeting again on Sunday, as DH is working, and I don't think DS#4 will sit nicely through a meeting (he's 3 years, 3 months), but I may be able to at least go weigh in. I generally don't like doing that, as for me much of the benefit of meetings is the MEETING, not the scale, but right now, while I'm trying to turn things around, even a trip for the scale might well be beneficial. I'll see how it's looking later in the week.

Hey all, glad to see you back on-line Ema. We share a family computer and have 4 or 5 people trying to get their time in. My only chance is at 6: something a.m. Great quite time though My week has been pretty good. I did ride my bike on Monday... was not prepared for the reaction my body had though. My blood sugar dropped and I had a bit of a struggle, but all is ok. This happens only once every year or two, but makes me feel pretty icky for a 1/2 hour or so. I have walked home from work now a couple of days and that will help me go from complete slug to back in shape. The weather is beautiful here...soaking up every bit of spring that I can. Have a GREAT day Katie

Good morning!! It's been pretty quiet here at Kippy's, I hope everyone is ok, and just busy. I had wi yesterday. I went just to wi and not stay for the meeting at noon instead of my usual 5:00 time. I had to work to close. But the good news is that when you follow the program and get in some exercise it works. I'm down 3.6lbs YIPPEE. That's deffinately a step in the right direction. My plan for this week is to continue to journal and keep walking or biking to work. Have a great day Katie

Good Morning,
I agree with you Katie, it seems like a ghost town these last few days. I hope everyone is doing ok.
CONGRATS on the 3.6 loss! It's a great motivator to stay on track.
Have a great day, Pam

I'm here. Continuing to do pretty well in my efforts to get my act back together. A few episodes of eating to a 4+ level on the comfort zone, but mostly doing OK with food choices and portion control.
Have been doing much more cooking than usual with my kids involved in meal planning, and it's helped me get back in the routine of planing in advance and cooking more.
Off to yoga.
