HI HO to the Kippy's Challenger! Rock on! And to you time4change...your name says it all!Hey, good to see you back too Pam! I'm with Sulee...I've got a busy couple of months coming up...I'm not doing that good staying CORE, but I went to the grocery yesterday and stocked up on some easy stuff. I may be away a whole lot so keep encouraging each other --and don't give up the ship--cause we need all hands on deck!

Hi gang! Remember me?
It's been a rough few months, and despite my doing a few things right, I've done many more things that were not helpful, and I am up quite a bit. Things have been very stressful at work, and that in itself creates some stress at home, IYKWIM, and for a whole hosts of other unhelpful reasons I've been eating an assortment of poorly chosen foods in enormous quantitites so that I feel physically miserable after eating, and psychologically miserable when I see the effects of my self-destructive subconscious choices.
I have been chosing exercise over a WW meeting I didn't find helpful any more, and couldn't find time in my schedule for one which I found to be a better fix in terms of the leaders approach and the meeting members' dynamics, so I hadn't been on a scale in a while. I got myself on a scale before going to my SIL's for Passover, and it wasn't pretty. I've gained back fully half of my weight that I lost to get to goal 4 years ago. I had blamed much of the gain on antidepressants, but it's continued at an unabated pace since I got off of them almost 2 months ago, so that isn't the problem.
My internet access at home was limited, so I wasn't checking in here, but I have hit bottom (I hope) and am back in business with some resolve and a fuctioning internet connection.
My goals: check in at least 3 times a week exercise at least 3 times a week go to a meeting at least every 2 weeks eat 2 fruits and 2 veggies a day stop eating before I feel stuffed Lose some weight--any amount is OK, so long as I stop gaining!
I know some of these are well under the goals WW sets for us as far as frequency of meetings and exercise, food choices and when to stop eating, but they are goals that I think I can attain given where I am right now. I want goals I can be successful at, and I will build from there.
I appreciate knowing that I was missed and that despite my self-destructive behavior in my absence I will be welcomed back with open arms (and probably a few cute graphics from Sandy!). I've missed you all and will have to be caught up on what I missed in the few months since I've been here regularly.

Ema - I definitely missed you! It's good to hear from you and have you back on the challenge. Hope you're having a good Passover.
I did EEK out a very small loss today - .2. Oh well, would have hoped it was a little more but I'll take it. We still have Passover through Tuesday but at least the big dinners are over and done with. I will be able to go spinning tomorrow - and DH is making matzah brei at some point this weekend - one of my favorite Passover treats! Good thing I will have those AP's.
Hope everyone celebrating Easter has a wonderful holiday!
-Beth

Oh EMA.....I'm soooo glad you're back--I know everybody is! And all that you described is my whole life to the tee! So don't think you're the lone ranger. The biggest thing is that you came back and checked in...we're your pals and we all SET OUR OWN GOALS. You know, I've found that I love CORE for that reason--it's not hard to do, actually--if we keep the beginner's mind. Treat yourself to some delicious CORE meals and maybe some great CORE fruits and veggies. I just cannot seem to be too hard on myself, or it backfires on me. We're all in this group for the long run (or so I assume). So what's the big rush? Relax, find that good feeling again first and just do TODAY. And Beth...let's celebrate that .2 lbs. lost with you...Hooray!!!!

Ema....it's GREAT to have you back!!! The first step is acknowledging hitting bottom, isn't it? We've all been there a few times. I hope you're here to stay.
Wow...struggles everywhere. I myself gained 2.4 in my first week of maintenance, and I only ate 50 of my 63 WPAs. It was TOM, but still...!
I'd planned to eat 50 again this week, to see how it goes, but I'm also having a difficult eating week. Too many meals out (5 in 4 days), coupled with the little treats I've started to award myself, are starting to add up. I feel a bit out of control, especially since both my weekend bike rides were cancelled because of record cold temps! Yoga today helped a bit, but I'll have to hit the cardio again on Monday.
Happy holidays, everyone. HIHO!

Thanks for the warm welcome back.
Vita--I've thought of you often during my absence, in general and vis a vis fashion. I didn't realize you'd gotten to goal. That's really terrific!
I really did OK eating-wise over the time since I last checked in. I ate some F/V and didn't eat to excess at any meals. I walked 0.8 mile going back and forth to synagogue and retreiving two kids from play dates.
Had a lovey surprise yesterday. I arrived at synagogue as the services were ending (there were no groups for little kids, so I planned to get there at the end), and thought I caught a glimpse of our former neighbor who moved to Israel 3 years ago when we moved to the house we live in now, but I wasn't sure and got involved in a conversation so I didn't have a chance to investigate further. A few minutes later DH interrupted me and told me that it was our neighbors, and the wife was in the synagogue lobby, but I'd have to hurry to catch her before she left.
I caught her and spoke briefly. Her family was eating lunch at the rabbi's house, and that is only a few blocks from our house, so I invited them to stop by after lunch, not entirely sure if they'd have the energy to accept the offer.
Happily they did. They came around 4 and stayed until the sabbath ended after 8 PM. Her older 3 boys are each a few months younger than my oldest 3 boys, and though they didn't really remember one another (though they were frequent playmates when we lived in the same apartment building) they hit it off nicely and kept one another entertained. Their daughter is 6 months younger than DS#4 and they enjoyed one another, too. They have a 9 month old who I'd never met, who was cute as a button crawling around my house.
All in all it was a nice day.
Not sure what we'll do today, as I need some time to prepare for the last round of holidays that are part of Passover. I have decent meals planned, and some healthy snacks, too. DH has already agreed to hold the fort while I go to the gym as long as I go early (if it's even open today). He's going stir crazy, and wants to find something to do with the kids outside the house. DS#1 has his first independent group project ever in schol due a few days after vacation and wants his group partner to come over and work on it. I'm fine with staying home and doing what I need to do in the kitchen and reading a bit while they work on their project and DH takes the younger ones out. Weather has been quite un-spring-like, which really limits the options.
Hope you all are well and are enjoying holidays if you're celebrating.

Very un-spring-like weather here too...well, maybe not...we usually have cold and wind, we just had such a mild early winter that it seems like we should have full spring now. Easter was a beautiful day, we had dessert at my parents farm. Sat night we had friends over to celebrate dh's birthday late. I made a very core dinner, but dessert was dh's favorite Waldorf red cake. Very rich, and I ate too much of it, but now it's gone and I won't make another for a year. I'm struggeling with health portions and making good food choices. Why do we de-rail ourselves? I guess if I really knew the answer to that I wouldn't be a WW member. So today is monday, the start of a fresh week. Eventhough I wi on Thrusdays, I'm starting fresh today. Here's to a great day everyone!!! Katie
p.s. Ema it's great to have you back, I always get so much inspiration and encouragement from your posts.

Katie - I'm with you on a fresh start today. Passover has been tough, there's a lot more dessert and side dishes around than normal. Even though the holiday doesn't end until tomorrow evening I have vowed to eat lighter today! I did go spinning Saturday and Sunday which helps a little bit. DS is off from school today and tomorrow so I'll try and hop on the treadmill although I must admit it's not my favorite thing to do.
I've got a baked apple in the oven for breakfast that I'll have with a little bit of cottage cheese. Sounds like a good start!
The weather is nuts, in the 30s here.
Hope everyone has a good Monday!!

Good Morning Friends!
I need a fresh start this morning too! I've gotten way too busy. We had a wonderful Easter dinner yesterday at my house and I ate too much. Say no more.
I'm leaving for my daughter's in D.C. on Saturday to help her pack to move to NYC, planning a niece's wedding, trying to get some antiques sold--we're buying a little vacation place in the mountains back home--too much going on. But all good stuff!
Have a great CORE week everybody!

Hi Spring Flingers! Welcome back Ema, and welcome to all the newbies! As much as the holidays sound to have been lovely for everyone, it also appears to be something of a relief now that they are ending and there can be a refocusing of sorts. I, personally, am ready for a big shop and some good excercise. My goals (I need to repeat these for myself): GHGs, regular excercise (4-5x/week), No sugar, and to make lifetime and get to my personal goal. I can do it! Happy Spring everyone.

Sounds like many of us need to find our focus and make the plan fresh again. I know that I need to get back to basics and re-read the materials and journal everything I eat. I feel like I'm on the edge of getting back to plan, but just am not pushing myself to get over the hump. I keep using the weather as an excuse to not be exercising. Excuses, excuses, excuses. Now just get off my duff and do it. Katie

Just checking in to keep on track. Made it through the last two days of passover in moderation. Got some fruit and veggies in each day, walked 1 mile each day, and didn't get into the sweets excessively. not bad, all things considered.
Now to help DH put away all the passover stuff and get ready to return to work after 10 days off tomorrow.

Hi all-
Just like Ema I spent all afternoon and evening yesterday packing up our Passover stuff and getting our regular stuff back out. It is always a good excuse to go through the cabinets and refrigerator and throw out old food or donate stuff we bought but won't use. My son and I have been making regular trips to our local food pantry ever since we did a canned food drive for his school earlier this year. Whenever we are at the grocery store he picks out a few things to bring over there, it's a nice habit I think.
We woke up today to SNOW. Not just flurries, they are saying 1-3 inches. I have a cousin turning 7 today, I bet she never thought she'd see snow on her birthday! This weather is very, very scary to me - the whole global warming thing.
I am going to attempt to spin today. The Wednesday morning spinning class is very popular and you have to go very early to sign up for a bike. I made arrangements to drop off my son at my neighbor's early today so I can get there, and hopefully this weather will deter some people. It's so frustrating to get there and not get into the class! But I'll be prepared and bring sneakers with me, not just my spinning shoes which I've done once before. So at least I know I'll get in a workout one way or the other.
Hope everyone has a good day!
-Beth
