Maybe it is a little of both, Xena. ;D Water walking, running and aerobics are activities that take place in the diving pool or very deep end of a regular pool. Exercisers wear belts that keep them afloat, and "walk" or "run" back and forth. The pool folks claim that 1/2 hour of water walking/running equals 2 hours of the same on land--because the resistance of the dense, deep water is so much higher against your body.
In addition, you use more muscles to move through the water than you do on land, but you are not impacting your joints! So this is an especially good exercise for larger folk and/or people who have join issues which prevent them from doing regular exercise.
I love it.

Also, I'm pleased to report that Washington State passed the Domestic Partnership Bill last week. Once it is signed by the governor (she's promised to sign it) I can write DP for Dear Partner AND for Domestic Partner. ;D
