I'm glad this board/thread exists, and I'm sorry I didn't find it before!
I'm almost 30, and my DP (Megan- 27) and I have also been married a couple of times. We live in Portland, OR. It's a great town for women!
Since I just found this thread, I didn't read all of the pages thoroughly, but I did want to comment on one thing: at meetings (though I attend in one of the most liberal parts of the city) there is a serious lack of "my kind". I've seen a few (stereotypical-looking) lesbians come in, but they never come back.
So, I guess if I can't have it my physical world I'll settle for this virtual one! Thanks for starting it!

Hi hi! I just found this site via the WW Core FAQ and I am so glad I did. ;>
I live with my partner of 6+ years and this is my second week (ever) of WW. I've been a little weirded out at meetings too--even though I live in a progressive town, it seems a lot of the people at meetings are pretty conservative.
And of course that's my assessment without speaking much to them, which isn't really fair. Just because someone dresses conservatively and mentions church a lot does NOT mean that they'd have a problem with me. I get that.
Still, I'm hesitant to say anything. When the leader handed out menopause sheets this week I grabbed one. Some people glanced at me and I really wanted to say "oh, it's for my girlfriend!" But I didn't.
Well enough from me. I'm just glad I found this site and this thread, and am totally inspired by all you wonderful people and your cute little trackers!

Hello and welcome! I know what you mean about meetings... I always hoped at some point I'd find an "ally" in meetings and be more open there... but wasn't dating anyone, so didn't seem a natural way to come out in mtgs. Frustrating some times. So welcome to our virtual meeting!

Virtual meetings--I like that. I actually started to go with an ally (a good friend) but she hasn't been able to go yet. I'm crossing my fingers that she decides to stick with it, but I know we all have to make that decision for ourselves in our own time... This seems like a fantastic group of people--very glad I found you!

I have finally figured out how to upload images and thought I would share this from when my partner and I got married. My mother-in-law is standing in the back ground. Sadly the marriages were ruled invalid but the whole experience was amazing.

wow Cynthia...awesome picture. You both look sooooo happy and you look gorgeous! I'm so glad that you had the experience and i'm so sorry our government can be so small minded! Love is love and a family is a family no matter what the demographics happen to be.
Thanks for posting!

Thank you for being so supportive. I am really glad we did it. Max had a great time and the whole family was there! It was a time in history to remember.

How cool is that??!! You're so lovely, and you both look so happy! I was very bummed when the marriages were annulled. There was pressure on Washington State to try the same thing, but instead they're battling it out in the state supreme court. If it becomes legal, my partner and I will do it. Weird isn't it--when it slowly became legal for interracial couples to marry, they didn't have to keep doing it in different states and/or Canada. I guess it's like the weight-loss/health journey. When I get discouraged I just think about how far we've come.

What a great photo! Hi all! This is my first post at Kippy's. I found my way here while trying to dig up a recipe somebody mentioned. Started poking around and lo and behold saw a GLBT thread. Woohoo!! I'm happily partnered for over 13 years, born and raised Chicagoan, transplanted to the San Francisco area.
I've been a WW for 2 years and a Lifer for over a year. Haven't been able to get any lower than my goal weight to have some breathing room and decided to try CORE. Love it! Finally see a little bit of a change DOWN in weight.
What a great site! Looking forward to poking around all the threads. Wish my darn job didn't have to get in the way. BTW Cyclegoddess, what kind of riding do you do? I'm a Roadie myself, with occassional dabbling with trails on my mountain bike.

Welcome, welcome Justdar! The Bay Area is my old stomping ground (I'm a Washington State girl these days). And 13 years--that's wonderful. I'm planning a trip to Chi Town to celebrate my birthday next month. Any tips on the best lesbian hang-outs? Glad you're here.

Lesbian hang outs huh? Well, most of the bars I used to go to are long gone. But, I think the Closet is still up and running. Just a small neighborhood bar right in the heart of what they call Boystown. Near Wrigley Field on Broadway. I actually think it's a video bar now. The area around North Clark St is called Andersonville, that's probably the closest thing to a Girlstown that Chicago has. There is an OUTSTANDING bookstore called Women and Children First, and I believe a few cafes and such. I'm more the bookstore type than the bar type these days.
There IS still a bar out in Franklin Park, which is a suburb just south of O'hare Airport, called Temptations. Huge bar, pool tables, electronic darts, dance floor. They charge a pretty steep cover, if I remember right but it's usually a pretty happening place. Again, it's been awhile so things may have changed, but a few years ago it was still fun.
Lots of great food to be had. NONE of it WW friendly, unfortunately. Just about every street corner especially as you get away from the Loop will have a hot dog stand or an Italian beef stand. Do try a beef. It's sort of a french dip, but the beef is very heavily seasoned, sliced thinner than thin and lots of terrific juice, plus sauteed sweet peppers. Have to wipe the drool off my keyboard. Hope this helps! Have fun!

Hey justdar, welcome. I used to do some trail rides but I've been all road for about the past 6 years. I do long-distance rides... Each of the last 5 years I did a 3-5 day ride to raise money for HIV/AIDS. My ride last year was 380 miles over five days. This year I'm thinking about Montreal - Portland (its a vaccine ride).
Also last year i started into triathlon for the first time, doing a sprint tri in July. It was about 1700 women... 1/2 mile swim, 12 mile bike, 2.8 mile run. It was awesome! (Not exactly fast, but a lot of fun.)
