I am happy to report a .6 loss this morning. We are off to Florida this afternoon for 10 days and it is pouring here so hopefully we can get out. I definitly need some R&R.
Vita - I am with you! I have 6 to go but I am shooting to hit that by Valentine's Day. You will get there - just don't be too hard on yourself and enjoy the holiday and the traditional food you only get at this time of year.
Anyone up for a Valentine's Day challenge??
Merry Christmas to all who are celebrating this weekend!!
-Beth

Hello! Sorry I’ve been MIA. Holiday craziness took over! I haven’t really been following plan, either. I was up .4 at my last meeting and down .2 at the meeting before that, which puts me down about 3.5 since the beginning of the challenge. I won’t WI again until the first weekend in January, unless I can find a meeting in San Antonio (we fly to Texas tomorrow) that accepts the monthly pass. I must confess, I haven’t paid any attention to the changes in the Core plan. I don’t really know what they are. I’ll study up over the holiday, I guess. My leader spent most of our meeting going over Flex and I just haven’t taken the time to look at Core.
Night & Xena – You guys should invent a scale that makes women feel good! You’d make a fortune!
Ema – Good for your sons, getting rid of the TV! Most kids would never do that (or adults, including me!).
Xena – I don’t believe in TVs in bedrooms, either. Or computers. Bedrooms are for relaxing – books only!
Barney – Congrats! Enjoy the whole planning process, it goes quickly! And I agree with everyone – the details didn’t matter one bit on my wedding day. I didn’t even look at the centerpieces I’d spent so much time getting perfect!
Jonesy – I’ve used sparkpeople. It’s great for tracking and telling you intake and output of calories, but I found it a pain to meticulously enter my food.
Vita – What a great loss! Congrats! And a very small gain in comparison.
Kate – How sweet of your DH to point out where you are in comparison to the BL contestants! And you’re amazing for losing that much, I must point out!
Beth – WTG on the loss! I’m in for a V-Day challenge.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone. This will be my last post till after Christmas. Our son and his GF are here and I'm enjoying having our whole family under one roof. We just have great kids. (pat's self on back lol) WI was good this week, down 1lb. I was quite surprised. Still having neck and shoulder problems, but I do think it is getting a little better. I'm losing patience though, my family has been wonderful and helpful. I can't vacuum or do much of anything that requires strength in my right arm, so they have all picked up some of the house work. We have several family celebrations planned and of course church twice on Christmas Eve. Usual Sunday morning service and special evening service at 5. This is our last year with our pastor since they are moving in January. Remember over these next few days, that the food is the least important part of the celebration. Try to keep it all in perspective that it really is only more weekend of meals, and don't elevate these meals into anything overly important.
Merry Christmas
Katie

Hi all-
We are enjoying Florida and the weather has been warm although sometimes rainy. We managed to eek out 90 or so minutes at the beach this morning before it started to pour! I earned 2 APs yesterday and 3 today, which helped me with dinner tonight! We went out for a fancy dinner to celebrate my MIL's 60th B-day. I don't anticipate using too many WPAs after tonight though, thank goodness. It is nice to be away from the daily grind and not on a timetable. I think my DH and I may see Dreamgirls tomorrow night, a treat since we get to the movies very infrequently.
Hope everyone is enjoying their families and the holiday this weekend!!

Hi challengers,
Well, I have been completely out of control over the past week. This morning I was 5 pounds above my goal weight, the highest I've been since July 05. I weighed at home, not at my meeting, but I'm so glad I stepped on the scale. I feel VERY committed right now.
Went out to lunch today and thought I was ordering a good Core meal -- cioppino. The reason I thought this is because one time I tasted it at Whole Foods. WF lists the ingredients for all its "homemade" items and the ingredients were Core. I got home after lunch today and just for kicks looked it up in my brand new WW Food Companion and -- not listed as Core. Listed as 13 points!!!!!! I really felt like all I was eating was boiled seafood in a garlickly, tomato-based broth. But I "took" the points for it anyway. I am skipping the party I was supposed to go to tonight for reasons related to my DS (I'm going to write about that one in my journal), so at least I'm not using any points on party food and beverages today. And I do still feel good about my lunch choice.
I also exercised at high-ish intensity on the elliptical thingy for 60 minutes this morning. The only good thing about being 5 pounds over goal is that I actually "earned" an extra AP for my workout! ;-p

Happy Christmas to those who partake!
I cancelled my trip to NY for Christmas, both a disappointment and a relief. Air travel at this time of year... Thanksgiving through New Year's is often unpleasant and with the Denver blizzard cancellations and a snow storm in Milwaukee where I would have changed planes, i thought the potential for endless schlepping and delays was pretty great so I rebooked my trip for February for my Grandmother's 90th birthday.
I am having 4 friends in for a core-ish potroast dinner and then even tho' I'm not Protestant I am going with them to the midnight services at the church up the street. It's supposed to be a lovely event with much singing and other music. Then tomorrow I'll be on my own but i bought some nice things to cook.
I feel in many ways that this unexpected time alone is helping me. I've been feeling fat, scattered and off and today i took myself out on a great hourlong jaunt... 15 minute miles and i felt great. It's like I'm getting a jump on the new year's resolutions!
BEST wishes to you all, Christmas celebraters and non-observers alike! You are such fine people!!

Merry Christmas, challengers! I've put my cranberry-eggnog trifle in the fridge (4 points a serving, so long as the serving isn't the size of your head) and am off to try out the heart rate monitor Santa brought. It's pouring rain, so I'll be on the trainer (yuck) watching reruns of Top Chef. Hope everyone's having a wonderful holiday.

Hope you like your HR monitor Kathy. I have a Polar F11 and I like it a lot. I discovered how to download from it to their fitness monitor website and have been tracking my activity there. I'd hope you got a Garmin Forerunner 305, which does GPS of the route and HR, with the biking extras to monitor cadence. Given your biking, that would be the Rolls Royce of monitors!
I spent my morning doing a Pilates class and then 1h:15m on the elliptical. Skipped strength training in favor of a (much needed!) shower. Not a typical Christmas morning, but then again, in my mostly Orthodox Jewish corner of Brooklyn, today is more like a quiet Monday than a holiday. I know that must sound strange to most of you. My older boys have school, and my youngest had a great time in the gym's playroom with the other kids. Gym was packed since many working mothers had the day off, like me. Quite unusual that DH and I were both off today. We actually both drew working next weekend--DH Sunday overnight and me Monday.
Off to do my end of the month bills and check book balancing. Ugh!

I am also at home, but with nothing to do. My stepchildren are spending Christmas with their in-laws, so we are just hanging around today. DH is asleep in front of the TV (as usual!), I am looking for a craft or something to do to keep my out of the kitchen! Hope you all enjoy your holidays!

Good Morning everyone. It is great to catch up on everyone's weekend. Our house is back to being mostly normal. DS and DS's GF have returned to their homes now and I go back to work this morning. DH is off till the 8th of January. too long of a time for him to be home. Our Christmas was very nice. Low key, but nice. I ate WAY too much, but don't have leftovers to deal with, so that is a plus. My back is still terrible, so I didn't do much cooking over the weekend. I see the Chiro, again today. I may have to persue this further with another DR. Looking forward to the return of normal life HIHO Katie
