Thanks Cathy!
I just realized that I've had a great NSV the past couple of days - a co-worker popped by with 2 Hershey's miniatures for me and I put them in my desk. I've had them in there for several days now and haven't been even tempted to eat one. Sugar monster's at bay!

Dinner this evening turned out to be grilled sirloin and sweet potato fries. Stopped by the grocery store on the way home from work. Was nice to have a quiet evening and have time to grill.
Using some WPA's on a margarita - DH whipped up a blender full. Pre-Core we had them every week at our favorite Mexican restaurant. Now, I have one about every other week.
Scale showed 131.0 this morning - my mini-goal is to get out of the 130's by the end of October.
Even though there's not much activity on the board these days, I've been reading old journals and posts and it's really interesting. I even found a few of my posts from back in '05 - was neat to be on Core when it was first introduced. If only I'd stuck with it! Oh well, that's history and I'm back and back on this lifestyle journey.

S - Banana
L - Salad with packet of tuna, lettuce, black olives, tomoatoes and FF Italian dressing
S - Banana

Left work early today and stopped by the grocery store to buy ingredients for Spinach Pie. It's in the oven now. Will have that as a side dish with rotisserie chicken (bought) - will eat skinless, of course.
DS2's birthday is Sunday - he'll be 25- goodness! Will make a German chocolate cake with homemade icing (coconut, pecans, the works) for him. I'm not even tempted - the thought of all that sugar just doesn't appeal to me at this point. Thanks a LOT, Core! LOL!
Exercise tomorrow will be housework - both DS's will be here, along with my DB and DSIL. We'll grill hamburgers and hot dogs and I'll make queso dip (not Core) for them, along with plenty of fruit salad which I love.
Bought frozen cherries and will try it in my breakfast oatmeal - read about doing that somewhere and it sounded so good.
WI this morning was 132.0.

Put about 6 frozen cherries in my homemade chocolate smoothie last night and it was soooo good! Tasted almost like soft-serve frozen yogurt, it was so thick and creamy. May have to watch the trigger factor on that item!
B - Shredded wheat, ff milk, sliced bananas, and a cup of India Spice Chai with a splash of ff milk - yum!
S - Slice of Spinach Pie.
L - One slice of Mexican seasoned polenta (green chilis/cilantro) topped with black beans, tomatoes, salsa, and ff cheddar (this was leftover), and leftover sweet potato oven fries
S - Not sure - maybe an organic apple.
D - Undecided. Am going to the grocery store in a bit, so I may check out a recipe to try.
S - Homemade smoothie, of course!
------------
Last night was the first time I made/ate the Spinach Pie and it was really good - I made it with half ff cheddar and half ff mozarella. It was actually better today, eaten cold.
Made the German chocolate cake for DS2's birthday tomorrow - will make the homemade coconut/pecan icing after I get to the grocery store to buy vanilla extract. So far, I'm not tempted by it at all - I don't really care that much for the icing.
Will also try to find a new walking DVD - my treadmill is in the garage and it's just too hot to walk out there (wonderful Texas humidity and heat) ... and, I don't have the room or like having it in the house, so I've decided to just pop in walking DVD's - they're easy to access and don't take up any space at all. LOL!

Change of dinner plans … DH and I went to Carrabbas. I had an awesome meal of CHICKEN GRATELLA (grilled chicken breast basted with olive oil and herbs), a side salad with vinegar only, spinach sautéed in olive oil and fresh garlic, and grilled veggies (squash, mushrooms and red peppers). A thoroughly enjoyable meal and Core – will count a few points just in case the quantity of olive oil was over my daily limit. But, DH and I sat at the pasta bar and watched them prepare the food, so I know that no butter or cheeses were used.

Today’s my DS2’s 25th birthday! We will grill burgers, hot dogs and corn on the cob. It’ll be my first attempt at grilling corn so we’ll see how it goes.
Today’s menu:
B – Shredded wheat, ff milk, banana, venti ff iced latte
S – None
L – Hamburger patty, salad fixings, corn on the cob
S – None
D – Imitation crab legs with homemade cocktail sauce (catsup/horseradish sauce)
The day went well – I didn’t eat anything that wasn’t Core and I didn’t’ overeat beyond my satisfaction level. How liberating! The best part of all is that I don’t feel deprived.

I have a few meals ready for the start to this next work week. DH and I have leftover Carrabbas and I’ll have that for Monday’s lunch. I made Spinach Pie (quiche) this weekend and will have that for breakfast tomorrow. I made taco meat (lean ground beef with taco seasonings) to have taco salads for dinner or lunch. And, I have a leftover hamburger patty. It’s nice to have items to fall back on and pick up in a pinch.

Still on plan. Yesterday for dinner I fell back into a bad habit, though - I ate mindlessly as I cooked dinner - all Core foods, and not a lot, but I ate bitefuls of corn, cauliflower, etc. without thinking and without sitting down at the table. By the time I did sit, I wasn't hungry. Reminded me of my pre-Core days when I would snack on junk food while prepare a meal. Really made me aware of what I was doing and that I need to make a conscious effort to not fall back into old eating habits with Core food.
Today's menu:
B - Oatmeal, ventil ff iced latte
S - Banana
L - A weird combination of food layered in a bowl - mashed cauliflower, taco meat, corn.
S - Pear
D - Leftover rotisserie chicken breast (1/2 - store-bought w/o skin), corn, cauliflower.
S - Will be a homemade chocolate cherry smoothie - yum!
Was 131.5 at this morning's WI at home. Will officially WI at tomorrow evening's meeting.
My mini-goal is to get out of the 130's by month-end.

I didn't get a chance to post yesterday, but I lost ONE POUND at last night's WI. I was thrilled!
I made Lifetime a couple of years ago on Core and gradually gained back all but three pounds.
I rejoined WW in July on Flex and weighed 139.6#. My weight went up and down, which was frustrating. Flex had worked for so many others and I just didn’t know why it wasn’t working well for me. I was also frustrated with having to count, weigh and measure. And, for me, I placed too much emphasis on saving points for “fun” snacks like bars, ice cream and little cakes. In summary, I almost considered quitting, but then a light bulb went off and I decided to go back to a tried and true plan (CORE) and stick with what I know works for me.
On 9/19 my meeting WI reflected a 0.4# gain and that’s when I began my Core re-journey. My first week on Core I lost 1.8#, the second week 0.6# and this past week 1.0#. I’m now at 131.4# and my WW goal is 124#. My mini-goal is to be in the 120’s by the end of October, and to reach my 10% target by the end of the year (I have to lose 4.8# to get there).
In my first three weeks on Core, I have practically lost as much as I did in 10 weeks on Flex, and better yet, I’m seeing the results – I feel better, have more energy, I’m never hungry, I don’t feel restricted in any way or that there are foods that are totally off limits.

Had a good day, even though I had two events to attend – a baby shower and a work awards dinner. I ate lunch (imitation crab legs and polenta) before going to the baby shower, and only ate fruit while there (avoided the chocolate fountain that accompanied the fruit!). At the awards dinner, I had a small garden salad with regular Ranch dressing (counted points), and a piece of barbecued chicken breast (skinless). I had a couple of Margaritas today and counted the points. All in all, not a bad day – stayed on plan and counted points for non-Core items.

Weigh in day this evening! I'm optimistic! I used more WPA this week - ate my first pastry item since starting WW in July - a homemade cinnamon roll. I counted the points for it, but it still feels weird eating an item like that since I usually reserve my WPA for a margarita or full-fat salad dressings - in other words, healthy non-Core items.

A margarita is my healthy non-Core item of choice! ;D Good luck tonight at WI, my meeting is tonight as well.

OMG - I just reread what I said about non-Core healthy items - and margaritas! I typed that really quickly at work and should have proofed it! haha I know what you mean, though, Cathy - I haven't eliminated my margaritas since starting Core and it hasn't affected my weight loss a bit. As with everything, moderation is the key, isn't it?
This evening at WI, I lost another 1.2 pounds! I'm so thrilled! In four weeks on Core, I've lost as much as I lost in 10 weeks on Flex. Core is definitely the plan for me!
At my meeting tonight, I set my WW goal at 128 - the top of my range ... I just want to start attending free at my earliest opportunity. My personal goal is still 120.
