Thurs 9/20
I took some nighttime cold medicine last night and I am still feeling the effects today. Very groggy, no appetite. I made it into work but not sure how long I will last. I did not bring anything to eat today. I have plans to go downtown for lunch. I am hoping to have some soup. We have clients today so there will be lots of food in the office. I shouldbe fine nibbling on some cut fruit.
B: SFFF latte
L: soup
S: fruit
D: chicken soup w/rice
I'll try to get to bed early tonight. I know sleep is really the only to help me get better.

Mon 9/24
Still feeling lousy. The weekend was ok. I did not keep to core but then again I didn't really over do it either. Although I am having a bit of a sugar binge from the weekend. It was a busy weekend and I never got to complete grocery shopping. Always a reason to get off track. But I plan on heading home early and will have a plan in motion to tomorrow morning. BACK ON THE WAGON so to speak.
I have been nibbling on cookies and SF cough drops all morning and have potato leek soup for lunch. Been bad with the water too.
Time to reflect and move forward....I'm done with the cookies but need to continue with the cough drops.
B: cafe au lait, cookies
S: SF cough drops
L: Potato leek soup cheese burger
S: SF cough drops
D: Salad & Chicken barley soupsm salad & ww bread
I will try and get in a short walk today. At least to get out and get some fresh air. It's a beautiful day, mid 70's.

Pammy-
Hi! Hope you feel better soon! I read your comment about weaning yourself from sugar and I can so relate! This is my second round on Core (I fell off the wagon two years ago and just recently returned). I recall that for me, the only way to beat the sugar monster is to avoid it completely. I don't know why I can't have even just a little bit of willpower when it comes to sugar, but I don't. One little piece of minature candy is never enough, and it just whets my appetite for more and then I'm out of control. For some reason, Splenda doesn't have that affect on me, so fortunately, I can still have my chocolate smoothies (with cocoa powder - not Core but I have it once a day).
Just wanted you to know that I feel your pain!

Tues 10/9
I need to be journaling more often but life seems a bit to crazy right now. We got back yesterday from Disney World. Wow! What a trip the kids had a blast and I was able to maintain my weight. I refused to eat anything fried or with sugar while there. It actually was easy as long as we were not at a buffet meal.
I got DH to commit to one morning and I decided to hire a trainer to help me get back into gym mode. I know I won't skip an appointment if I am meeting someone or paying for it. SInce I no longer have a buddy to workout with I am at the mercy of paying for a buddy. At least I will be able to start toning up. I plan on calling to scheduling an appointment next week.
I have a business meeting the rest of this week. It is going to be tough eating wise. They always are trying to offer sweets and all I will be doing is sitting in a chair. I have always gained weight during these meetings in the past. My goal is to simply maintain as I did at Disney and I will feel like I accomplished something. I am planning on bringing some fruit to try and curb the temptations.
That is all that is going on

Hey Pam! We leave for Disney a week from Friday - any restaurants you can suggest? I know we'll be doing a lot of walking while there. Glad you had a great trip! Congrats on maintaining! -Beth

Sat. 10/13 I'm finally done with my work meeting. It was successful in many ways. I was able to stay way from sugar but I definately ate more than my share needed. And by the last day I was fighting a craving for anything sweet. My normal vicious circle is I make it to almost the end of the meeting and then say "what the heck". But I held firm this time, I am really proud of myself. I have been going to these meetings for 10 yrs and this is the first time. I am a bit worried I still have the cravings but I am working on them. It's close to TOM so I am hoping once I get it I will calm down a bit. It's a busy weekend, we have Pumpkin Day's in town and the block party tonight. (I am making a pot of core chili) plus I have a lot of catching up to do. I feel like I have been on vacation for two weeks without the relaxing. The house is a mess since DH was in charge of everything while I was gone. So in addition to the nornal routine I will be trying to fit in time to clean and reorgainize. I do want to try one or two new recipes I found during the week. But for the next day or two I will be focusing on only core foods. Hopefully that will stop the craving. I ate regular bread and pasta during the week. I guessing that is how my problem started. Oh Well. Today: B: Cafe au lait SF grape and apple w/ ff cottage cheese S: SF FF latte L: chopped salad w/sliced chicken, sliced pear S: 1 cup milk, 1/4 c cashews & grapes D: core chili w/brown rice

Pammy-
Would love to hear how you like your trainer - I've always wanted to do that, too.

Mon 10/29
MIA for the last two weeks and I am paying for it. I am finally digging out of my pile at work and trying to get back on track food wise. I have all the right stuff at my fingertips I just don't grab for it when needed. This morning I weighed in at the gym and I am at my all time high for the year. 142.. OMG!
I ended up not going with a trainer. It's so pricey. Right now I am working on getting to the gym on a regular basis. I found out about a team fitness program. Mucho bucks but it works out to be $18 a session for 12 weeks. Depending on where I stand at the end of the year I will consider signing up for the new year. I already forwarned DH so it might be my Hanukah present.

Mon 11/5
I gained my winter weight these past few weeks and I am really upset! The constant battle of the bulge. I did recommit to going to the gym (mind you at 5:30am) three times a weeks. I started taking a spinning class and I am enjoying it. I am curious about the pilates but I would like to build up some stamina first.
So I am at 139. Geez! I hate that number. I know it's just a number but still. At least my clothes are still fitting me. My goal is to try and get as close as possible to 130 by the New Year as possible. I am being very strick with myself this next week to try and kick myself into gear.
B: Oatmeal, sliced apple
S: edamame
L: Brown rice, lentils and carmelized onions & banana
S: 2 clementines
D: polenta & sauteed veggies
Lots of water and no coffee.

Tuesday 11/6
The water is starting to come off. I checked this morning and I'm at 137. I am starting to feel like I am going in the right direction. The good news is I have not really been hungry. I will be heading to the gym early tomorrow for another spin class. The instructors are so much nicer than the other classes I took. I think I'm hooked.
mini 1: Oatmeal w/ flaxseed and 1/2 chopped apple
mini 2: tossed salad & banana
mini 3: polenta and sauteed onions, peppers and tomato
mini 4: 2 clementines
mini 5: 1c brown rice and 1.5 slices tofu steak
Drinking lots of water today.
I need to start thinking of what to make for dinner tomorrow night. That way I can have it all planned out. Maybe a tofu stir fry with pineapple, broccoli, sugar snap peas and brown rice.

Wed 11/7
Made it to the gym this morning for 5:30 spin class. It really took a toll on me. I am really tired this morning. The teacher was tough. I also went to bed later than usual and could not fall asleep. I just was not tired.
I am holding my own right now food wise. I generally lose it when I am tired but there is a lot happening at work today to keep me busy.
mini 1: 1 chopped apple mixed into plain yogurt
snack: 2 1 clementines
mini 2: tossed salad and banana
mini 3: left over 1.5 slices tofu steak and 3/4 cup brown rice
snack: edamame
mini 4: tofu, pineapple, broccoli stir fry w/ brown riceTossed salad, Left over polenta w/ sauteed veggies.
I am trying to have smaller meals today. I have the snacks just in case it's not enough but I might skip them. I am working on my satifaction levels. See if I really need all the food I think I do when making a plateful.

How ya doin', Pammy? Your menus look great. I forgot - are you vegetarian? Your mini meals look delish but make sure you are eating enough, and get in the protein and oils too. Just a suggestion after reading into your journal meals a little... Congrats on the spinning class too - I always wanted to try that but haven't managed it yet.
