I can't even count how many times I have started and stopped my Weight Watchers journey. I know I can be successful with the WW programs, it's sticking to them that I have a problem with. I would love to make a heartfelt commitment to say, this is the day, this is the hour...but I don't want to afford myself the opportunity to fail again. So instead, my new found philosophy truly is to look at this as a lifetime of learning.
I have always been the fat girl (no not chubby or heavy or even pleasantly plump), FAT! But, I have generally dealt with my obesity really well. I came into my own in high school and started not to care what others thought of me. The reality is, the reason I want to lose weight is to preserve the blessing of health that I have been fortunate to already have...and I HATE the words "MORBIDLY OBESE."
It is a scary thing to go to the doctor for your first pregnancy appointment and hear the doctor in the hallway say, "Oh my, she can't deliver that baby here, we can't accommodate someone THAT SIZE!" (To my doctor's credit, we became good friends and I felt fortunate to have her.) Now, I am 9 week postpartum with an amazing family. I have a 4 year old energetic son, a sweet-as-can-be 9 week old baby girl, and a wonderfully supportive husband.
You will learn a great deal more about me as I join in the posts. Just know that I feel a connection with you all in this journey already and I appreciate this forum to share in.
Thank You! C

Welcome C ! Congratulations on your beautiful baby girl!! How exciting for you and your hubby!! Your 2 little ones will keep you busy for many years to come! And Congratulations on choosing WW and joining this site. You will find an absolutely wonderful group of caring people here, as well as an unsurmountable amount of recipes and tips in helping you while on the WW program. I think most of us here have been on every diet out there and have joined WW many times. Core is different than any other diet that I have ever been on. For the first time ever, I feel like I am eating like a normal person and still losing weight. As of last week, we now have a regularly scheduled Chat session on Thursday nights in this site's Chat room at 6 PM central time. Everyone is welcome. I usually check in here several times a day, journal every day, weigh in on Mondays, post my thoughts and concerns, and always receive wonderful support. Wishing you a wonderful day.....and again, welcome to Kippy's Site!!!

Welcome C,
Just want to echo Marcia's thoughts. I've been there done that so many times.
I stay connected to the board to try to maintain my loss. Much to my dismay I find keeping the weight off very difficult. Others find it easy. I'm just glad to have this group.
Congratulations on your new baby girl.

Hello, everyone!
Since I hope to be able to participate in the virtual WW meeting today, I thought it might be a good thing if I introduced myself first. As you can most likely tell, my name is Becky, and I live in California.
I'm 49 years old, and have been married just over a year to the most wonderful man on earth. I'm the accountant for a company that grows organic produce, so I frequently get to bring home lots of broccoli, cauliflower, and lettuce.
At the age of 17, when I got married for the first time, I wore a size 3 dress. A year ago, my wedding dress was a size 3X!
My lifelong struggle with my weight could fill a journal. I've lost a lot of weight more than once, and then gained it back -- plus more, obviously. This time will be different, though: my husband and I are doing WW together, and we're doing the Core program.
We go to weekly meetings, but quickly found that our choice to do Core put us well outside the mainstream. I knew that I would need better information and support than I was getting at meetings, so I got online at the WW website. I found facts about the program there, but very little else. Luckily, I discovered the WPA board, and eventually stumbled upon a link to Kippy's site. I've been lurking and reading here for a couple of months, but I finally decided to come out of the closet.
Truth be told, I don't often look at the recipes here, although I've seen many that sound wonderful. What *does* keep me coming back are the intelligent, informative and supportive posts by people willing to share their experience with, and enthusiasm for, the Core program.
I thank you all for giving me such a fabulous place to hang out and learn. This has been the lifeline I was looking for!

Becky I'm so glad you "stumbled" upon this site. I too "stumbled" here. I'm still not sure how I got here, but knew instantly I had found a home. Everyone here has been incredibly supportive, and kind. I hope you find the same peace that I have found. Good luck on your continued journey. Katie

I love the core I love the fact that i am eating such healthy foods, feeling satisfied, not starving myself. This is great!!!! I have alway's had an obsession with food, don't know why, I was bulimic in college so i have some binging issues to this day that i am trying to deal with. sometimes i think i am crazy, LOL, that if someone saw me on one of my binges they would commit me!!! I have not had any in a while, I have'nt felt the need to since being on core. I am not crazy REALLY!!! just trying to FINALLY get this weight off and be healthy!!! This website seems great you all seem like a great bunch of "core'rs" I hope to get to know all of you!!

Hi, my name is Terri. I am 31 years old and the mom of two beautiful girls (7 and 4). Here is my story. I was always very thin until I had my first pregancy and I gained from a size 6 up to a size 16. I gradually gained weight over about two years from a 16 to an 18 and found out I was pregnant with my youngest. I weighed 220 when I came home from the hospital but by the 6 weeks visit I weighed 180 again and I started weight watchers for the first time in my life. I lost down to 135 and then gained back up to 140. I had set my goal weight at 127 and through a series of convincing myself that I would never be 127 and 140 (size 8 and 10) was a good weight that I could stay at. Well I stayed there a year due in large part to extended breastfeeding. I would say that I gained about 15 pounds the first 2 years and then last year I have gone from 155 to the now 196. So, that is where I stand now. I can't diet anymore because it just leads me to binging and I have been thinking that I could do core. I understand the mindful conscience eating and I have a chart on my fridge from Quaker to use as a hunger scale until I get the hang of it on my own. I am putting all my hopes on this program. It will be healthy for me and my family if nothing else! Hope that I will love it here! Terri

Hello all. I'm so happy to have finally made my way over to this site and - wow! Thanks Pookie for the link.
I'm 35 and have been on WW on and off a couple of times over the years. My 1st time out I lost 38 lbs, took a "break" for about a year and gained quite a bit back.
I have been on Core since Feberuary (vegetarian), and after some initial ups and downs its just wonderful. I've lost -17 since starting core, and its the 1st time I've really felt I could see myself going the whole distance, not stopping no matter the challenges, until I get there.
I'm also an avid long distance cyclist and doing my 1st sprint-triathlon at the end of July.
Thanks for the great site. It is so needed.

Hello - I was directed to this site by lurking on the WW WPA and new CORE thread boards. I have been a WW member since January 9, 2002. I attend weekly meetings.
Recently, after being told off by my husband. Long story, but he saw a WW commercial and asked which plan I was on. Blah, blah, blah. Anyway - I am recommitted to making myself a priority in my life.
I have been married for 10 years, have two grown daughters (Jessica 21, doesn't live at home; Krystle 19 does) and 4 dogs (2 basset hounds and 2 bloodhounds). I am active in my local sewing guild, love to make clothes, knit and play with the dogs. I'm putting the male bloodhound through agility - it's fun but a test of my patience.
WW wise - I very slowly lost 80 pounds. Then I rather quickly let almost 20 come back. I'm dealing with some health issues, including thyroid and extremely low iron. We're working on it and the weight is starting to come back off. I love the idea of CORE and I know that once I get the hang of what satisfied feels like that I will love it.
Looking forward to getting to know everyone here. By the way - how do I add a signature?
