I decided not to WI last night...didn't feel right...I will see what the d*mn number is tonight.
Xena - maintaining is good!!! I hope your son feels better.
Sandy - I totally agree with your philosophy. Core is limited processed foods...it so good!
Cathy - I am so jealous that you have fresh fruit/veg available in your backyard for the picking! Post whatever recipes you want, bulgar ones are good, or anything that you think we could get the ingredients for.
Sulee - You've been so busy but you're doing great - post when you can!
Have a good day everyone!

Cathy, It's so interesting to hear about your world over there. I was wondering if you got hit by the bombing. It all just makes me sick--anywhere to have this happen, but especially Lebanon. So do you speak Arabic? I suppose so. Actually I studied for 2 years in college, but I only remember a few phrases. I still love to hear Arabic spoken, however. It's a beautiful language. So what got you over there and what are you doing, if you don't mind me asking. Just being nosey, I guess. I would love any of your bulgar recipes. PLEEZ! Xena...Here is a big hand for maintaining --we all know it's better than gaining. You're here--and I don't know what we'd do without you.

Early morning in the village and Mickey (my cat) is snoozing on my lap after a long night out preying or doing whatever he does outside at night. The sun is shining and I believe we will head to Tripoli later in the morning to get some groceries...not sure what else is on the schedule. CATHY: I will try to post some recipes later on...will let you know if I put them into one of the recipe boards though sometimes figuring out which spot to post them can be tricky. One problem with the fresh fruits right now is that my husband likes to squeeze the citrus then gives me a HUGE glass of juice to drink! Not core and many points...oh well...it IS healthy SANDY: I took a couple of classes in colloquial Arabic when my children (now 25 and 27) were babies and it has helped me a lot through the years BUT I am by no means fluent and since most people here are bilingual have managed not to need to learn the language 100%. I have never lived with my MIL or other relatives for extended periods of time and my children were raised outside Lebanon many years that I would probably have used to learn the language had I been here instead. I actually ended up in Lebanon after going on a blind date with my husband. That is a story in and of itself! We met in October, saw each other a few times, wrote to one another, met in England in the spring and were married in June...short version. 28+ years later we are still together and living on land inherited from my MIL in a house we built together RECIPE: These are easy ones using bulgur 1. cook bulgur and when done add to it condensed yogurt (called labne here...not sure what it is called there...yogurt cheese?) along with some salt, garlic (pounded in mortar with pestle), garbanzo beans, fresh mint-chopped and cucumbers. All quantities are as desired. 2. Cook bulgur in chicken broth (or water) adding leftover chicken to reheat. While the bulgur is cooking put into a pan a bit of olive oil and some sliced onions and "fry" till golden. Add vinegar to the onions to create a sauce and put the sauce over the chicken and bulgur

Geha, great to have you back. I love learning a little bit about another culture. Your bulger recipes sound good, I'll have to give them a try.
Well.... I made it to my meeting last night for the first time in 3 weeks. REALITY has hit and hit hard... I am over the number I said I would never see again. So my weekly tracker is on the counter and I am going to get back to eating healthy. I sat next to a woman returning for the first time in 2 years. She has gained back most of her weight. I refuse to let myself go back to having to pay. I needed a big reality check and now I have it. I WILL be back on my game. Have a great day Katie

Katie, I know exactly how you feel...I am higher than I thought I would ever be again but still not ALL the way back up. I have set Monday aside to be THE day to get back on track. Why? Well, between now and then I have a few gatherings to attend and don't want to start, sabotage myself and not try at all...besides...this way I can ANTICIPATE with EXCITEMENT getting back to Core eating

Had to come back and post again...I now have big incentive to get back on track so will be jumping in big time on Monday! Why? Well, I just heard from my brother and it seems that he will be coming to visit with his wife, two children in their twenties and my mother!!! That means I have from now till June 9 to get a few pounds off and to get the house shaped up for guests!
Guess what? I am excited!

wildflower... Hadn't even thought of the pictures! Eek...pictures? Oh well...main reason I want the weight off is due to the traveling, sightseeing and heat that could be present...lighter on my feet will make all of that easier

Yeah Beth!
I rode my bike 15 miles today! I am going to do a ride for diabeties (sp???) in May so that was my incentive. That ride will be either 25-50 miles depending on what I choose.
Went the whole day without sugar which was also my goal. No sugar. No snacking. No seconds. I can do it. Core all the way.
Beth: Way to go on your loss.
Geha: That is a great incentive. I have many events this year that I would love to slim down for. 40th Birthday in Nov., the bike ride, Hawaii in August, etc.
Sandy: Thanks for the big hand. It is good to maintain but not my goal. I will take maintaining though. It is better than the alternative.

Hi Fools,
I've been MIA for a couple of weeks, I guess. Things are just too crazy around here.
For Lent, I gave up processed sugar and soda. That means no diet Coke, which is hard for me! Anyway, I've fallen off the wagon big time these past couple of weeks as far as Core goes. I haven't had any sugar or soda, but I've pretty much eaten everything else -- bread, chips, etc. As of yesterday, I made a vow that I would track and follow the Core plan strictly. This is a stressful time in my life and I need to stay strong for my family; gaining weight and feeling sluggish because of poor food choices is not going to help!
Hang in there, everybody!

Hey all. Just catching up on Challenge posts. Welcome, Cathy from Fih. Nice to see you back, and looking forward to trying your bulghar recipes. I have been meeting my goals for challenge (I'm afraid to say it too loud; I'm afraid I might jinx it!!!) I have had no sugar; I have been meeting the GHGs, for the most part....though I keep forgetting to take my vitamins, and whole grains weren't available at my conference. Sandy, traveling with a supply is a good idea. I have had fruits, veggies, and proteins for the past four days. Come to think of it, I haven't had a single grain. Okay, well I know what's on the menu today! And I earned 8 APs while away. Or more if lugging carry on baggage through airports counts. Today: excercise and grains. HiHo everyone! To those who are struggling a bit...hang in there and keep the faith!

Mighty: I am on my second day without sugar. I know what you mean about jinxing it. One day at a time. The first day is always the hardest for me, the second day is a little less and on and on.
I worked out on the stairclimber this afternoon. Stretched a bit as well since my back has been tightening up a lot lately.
