Zero point tortilla??? How did I miss that treat?
And me too on the sushi cravings. Can't find veggie sushi with brown rice around here, so I always splurge points. I should just try to make it too. After all, I can eat the mess-ups!

Well, it was a rather quiet night last night, so I got a little bit of sleep and didn't eat anything until about 6am when I took some motrin then realized it was on an empty stomach, so I just grabbed a medium size bag of almonds (6). That just means I have to earn some APs today.
Almonds (6) cereal, milk, banana green salad, avocado slices, leftover rice/bean/ground beef mash, 1/2 orange snack later? maybe some oatmeal with fruit

I'll try to get a recipe for you, Night. They were those rolls with really thin rice wraps with lettuce, shrimp (which you would leave out of course!), cilantro, a few rice noodles...not entirely core but so low points they're not even on the radar. A light peanut sauce that I didn't use. I may need to go on an Asian food kick. Yum.
Here's yesterday: B: coffee, cereal, milk L: smoothie, brown rice D: leftover Thai eggplant and veggies, salad, 2 slices pesto pizza (12)

Howdy! Pardon me for eavesdropping, but spring/fresh/heaven rolls are one of my favorite treats. And at $4.50 a pop for an order of them I decided to stop getting them take-out and figure out how to make them at home. Found a great recipe here that works for me. They are a little bit tricky to roll up, but other than that it's way easier than all these instructions look.
www.recipesource.com/ethnic/asia/chinese/spring-rolls.html
Basically you prepare all the fillings, stack them in a wrapper and roll. There's no cooking other than the tofu, if you want that. I've found that chicken is really good in them too, as are shrimp (for non-Veggies, of course). I leave out the vermicelli noodles, as they aren't core, and I don't miss them one bit.
Vary the amounts based on how much you want to make. This recipe makes a lot, but I generally make 2-4 rolls at a time depending on if I want them as a snack or a meal. I've found that they don't keep particularly well overnight. The texture changes - not dramatically, but enough so that I don't like it anymore.
The rice paper rolls are incredibly low calorie. 20 calories per 6" wrapper. It took me a while to find them though, and finally came across them in our bulk foods store. But I'm kind of out of the way, so it may be easier to find where you are.
I like mine with the sauce, as it's minimal addition of points and I think it adds a nice layer to the flavor, but to each his own. You could also use just plain soy sauce, soy sauce mixed with splenda if you like the sweet/salty sauce, or even wasabi to dress them up. I've experimented adding different veggies in there too. Avocado is tasty, as is cucumber.
Good luck! It's way cheaper to make these babies at home, though admittedly more time/effort intensive.

Oh oh those!!!
That's so funny because I just had them at the local Thai restaurant (the owner subs tofu for prawns for me). I hadn't looked up their points yet, but I'm feeling mighty reassured after reading your posts. Thank you!

I spent the afternoon at the pool with my kids, and did laps while I was there. Afterwards, DD and I went to pick up spring roll and california roll supplies. What an amazing, huge store, called World Foods, and only a few blocks from my house and they have everything you could want for any and all kinds of Asian foods. I had been in there only once before, but now I think it's going to be my main grocery. Great produce, and just about everything else I tend to buy weekly, and inexpensive too. The vermicelli noodles were a lot higher in calories than I would have thought, so like you Slimcris, I'll leave them out. Tomorrow, DD and I are acually going to make the stuff.
Food today, not so good. I ate some leftover pizza and quesadilla for lunch, stuff I heated up for the kids, and then ate in human garbage disposal fashion when they didn't want it all. After a nice core dinner I started munching on sesame cake which I shouldn't have bought in the first place. I nipped that in the bud though and made myself a somewhat healthier treat, cinnamon raisin Ezekiel toast with unsweetened pb and all fruit spread. I don't have the points for it, but I needed to offset a potential sugar binge. I weighed myself this morning and was down 2 pounds, so I'm going to use that as my official weigh-in instead of tomorrow's, mainly because I need positive reinforcement for an otherwise successful week. If I'm up tomorrow morning because of today's indiscretion, it will really depress me, and that's not going to help matters. So that's my tweak this week. It's all about staying honest and looking at the big picture. Humor me, please.

I live in Austin, Texas - the headquarters for Whole Foods and I LOVE it too!!! Sometime when you have some time to kill take a stroll down every aisle and see what interesting things you can find. It's a fun way to kill some time and find some new food ideas.
Take care.........

Well, whew, what can I say, I am safe...my weight this morning was identical to yesterday so I am officially down 2lbs on weigh-in day. But pounds schmounds...I wore a bikini to the beach today and didn't feel entirely self-conscious and ridiculous. I guess that's the real success. The scale may only be moving minimally week after week, but my body has changed so much for the 5-6 months that I've been excercising regularly.
MB.....the store down the street to me is not Whole Foods, but World Foods, a local Asian grocery. I would have paid double at Whole Foods for what I got. It's funny, though, when I first pulled into the parking lot I too read the sign as Whole Foods and wondered how they got away with trademark infringement until I realized my error. Interesting what our brains do. Welcome to the board, btw!!
Food today: B: coffee, apple, cereal, soy milk S: banana L: Odwalla bar at the beach (4) D: Souplantation for Father's Day. Kids love it and they can be kids there, so we go frequently. We were gluttons, and I'm calculating the points from their nutritional information: large salad, low fat dressing (2), black bean soup, baked potato topped with veggie soup. And for dessert....ahem: small blueberry muffin (3), chocolate brownie muffin (4), ff frozen yogurt (4). Also, 1/2-1/2 in my coffee today (2).
