A lot of work cooking all of this food before going to my mom's!!! Don't think I will do this again!

Hi everyone, Well, I am starting to get frustrated. I will be weighing in on Monday and according to scale....will be weighing the same or up 1 lb. Grrrrrr! I really love this program...but am beginning to wonder if I need to start counting my calories or points.....darn! I am strict about following the plan....count all the WP even adding them if I think the restaurant may have added some butter in cooking. Oh well, here is yesterdays journal: Breakfast Fri 6/3 Day 5 Week 42 poached eggs, 1 toast, berries 1WP Snackpopcorn LunchSalad, 2 small chunks steak, FF french Oatmeal, 1/2 apple, skim Snack2 ice cream bars 4WP DinnerBroiled walleye (restaurant) 1WP Salad, FF french Baked Potato, FF ranch Broccoli Snackoatmeal, skim, 1/2 apple 8 water, 4 half caf coffee, 6WP, Total of 26WP I have been riding my new stationery bike the last week...about 2 miles a day...not much....but better than none. Just got a new comfy seat...so plan to increase my distance. I have really been feeling bloated compared to when I was on Atkins.....still concerned about all of the carbs I am eating. Wondering if I should go on to Fitday and start tracking my carbs and calories!! Don't really want to...that is why I am on Core...trying to make life easier! Think I will post this question in general. Have a great day all!! Marcia (MM)

You are doing great. I noticed that you got several great answers and suggestions on the general thread.
I noticed that you had oatmeal twice in one day. I may be wrong, but I think you have to count points for the second serving.
Also, when I began WW in 1970, I had been on Atkins for a month and lost 12 lbs. I did not lose as much during my first few weeks of WW because my body was adjusting to the change in what I was giving it for fuel.
Core will work. Just hang in there.

Thank you Sunshine! You are doing so wonderful...congratulations on your journey!!
I looked in my book to check on the oatmeal...I think you can have it as many times a day as you like without counting points.....but will check at my meeting on Monday.
I received so much wonderful advice...I am very thankful to everyone on this board for the terrific support and ideas.
Have a great day!

Hi Marcia,
Thanks for visiting! I hope you're having a wonderful Sunday. NYC is sunny and beautiful today. I was out and about for long time. It was great.
Exercise has become something that I can't live without. I was very active in high school, but kinda lost it was I grew up and got busy. As we all do.
What's helped me get back into the swing of things is a little piece of advice I found on a website somewhere. The site said that after the first few minutes of exercise, your body tries to trick you into stopping (i.e., side pains, sudden exhaustion or boredom). If you can make it past those first few moments, you can go a lot longer than you think. I use that advice about just getting up and getting started. I figure if I can make it over the initial "I'm tired" or "I dont really feel up to exercising" -- I'll get more done and actually feel good when the workout is over.
Hope that helps!!

Hey, Marcia, thanks for visiting my journal! Don't get too frustrated with Core -- it sounds like you're doing great, and it does take your body some time to adjust to all the extra fiber you're eating (especially if you had done Atkins, which is pretty low on the fiber scale). Good luck!

(Copying this from my journal, just in case you didn't see it...)
Hey Marcia, glad something I wrote triggered something positive in you! I saw you got some great responses in your thread up in the general forum (CoreIsCool made some good observations, especially) but I wanted you to know I'm thinking of you, and hang in there. It's not all going to come off overnight -- we have to be patient and remember this is a lifestyle change as well as a eating change. Good luck!

I looked in my book to check on the oatmeal...I think you can have it as many times a day as you like without counting points.....but will check at my meeting on Monday. Marcia Marcia, I copied this from e-tools:
Don't forget: All cold cereals listed here are limited to one meal a day and must be eaten with fat-free milk or fat-free plain yogurt.
Any Brand of:
cereal, hot, cream of rice cereal, hot, farina cereal, hot, grits, corn cereal, hot, instant oatmeal cereal, hot, instant oatmeal, unflavored, uncooked cereal, puffed rice, ready-to-eat cereal, quick grits, white corn cereal, quick grits, yellow corn cereal, ready-to-eat, puffed wheatMaybe the key word is cold. I will be interested to know what your leader says. I'd love to think I could have it twice a day and not have to count points for the second bowl. Keep up the good work.

Hi Marcia, thanks for the encouragement. I am just writing back to give you some encouragement too. I agree with simpson that exercise is key. Good luck with the new bike seat. I should really go and dust of my mountain bike and get riding now that the weather's nice in ny finally Keep it up, you are doing great! jeanne
