I already keep a paper tracker, and I even have a LiveJournal expressly for my new challenge of losing weight, but of course I just have to have one more place to record my new obsession! LOL! Anyway, I guess I'll just jump right in with today's meals as I go along, and record some of my impressions as they're happening. Breakfast 2 cups coffee with skim milk and S'n'L 1 packet instant regular oatmeal with Splenda and cinnamon mixed in (this was pretty blah -- I need to figure out how to make it tastier with my picky eating habits) banana multi-vitamin I'm already starting to get hungry again -- only two hours later! -- so I think I will heat up one of the all-core quiche cups I made this weekend. (Canadian bacon, onions, spinach, soy cheese and eggs. Yum!) I've been thinking I might need to have protein in the morning to counteract the uber-hungry pangs I get between b-fast and lunch, so this is my week to experiment with that. Hence the quiche cups. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Back later with more... ETA1: Yep, let's add the quiche cup to my food list for today. Boy, those sure are yummy! ETA2: Lunchcanned tomato soup salad -- romaine and spinach, 1 cut-up leftover turkey breast slice (from a dinner last week), cucumbers, a quarter-handful of soy cheese and some ff honey-mustard dressing. I couldn't even finish it, I was so full. Still have carrots, more cukes, and a peach for snacking on in the afternoon if I need it. Also had my typical shortie 8-oz. diet Coke. I love the new small size, because I only have one a day (during lunch) and the amount is just right -- I usually finish it off during the meal itself, and then head back to water for the afternoon. Today, though, I hardly drank it at all -- too much talking and chewing, I guess. ;D Dinner will be: glass of skim milk meatloaf (3 thin slices, man is that good) baked potato (small) not sure of veggie yet -- might steam a bag of TJ's mixed veggies, or do the Moroccan carrots and snap peas from the Turnaround cookbook. Depends on what DH is in the mood for -- he's started joking how tired he is of carrots (my favorite veggie, heehee)! ETA3: Note to self: frozen veggies are AWFUL. Buy fresh from now on. This was the Birdseye Pea Blend, and it was tasteless and limp. I did try to spice it up with curry, but even that didn't help. Snack: 94% ff kettlecorn. I know it's not Core, but I eat it maybe 1-2 times a week, so I have it as a tweak. If it were Peanut Butter Popcorn, then I'd worry about abuse... ;-)

Tuesday, 2/8
B: cereal (mix of shredded wheat'n'bran and the new WW 1-pt cereal that I don't like and am trying to use up) with skim milk 2 cups coffee with skim milk and Sweet'n'Low
S: peach For the first time in a while, this was enough to get me through to lunch. And I had lunch late!
L: leftover meatloaf sandwich with extra sauce on 1-pt Natural Ovens Hunger Filler bread carrots
Snack to be: Orange, more carrots (didn't end up eating them)
Dinner: not sure yet. Was planning on making a roasted veggie soup, and I do need to get lots more F&V in today, so probably that, and something else.
ETA: Made the roasted veggie soup, which came out better than I expected. I'll need to freeze a lot of it, since I made way too much.
Strangely, not very hungry at all today. That meatloaf sandwich took forever to digest, although when I ate it, I didn't feel over-full or anything unusual. Hmmmm.

Wed 2/8
B: Coffee with skim milk and SnL giant orange
(Seriously, what is wrong with me? I'm either starving for breakfast or not at all interested. I need to get myself set on a pattern. I think it might be because I'm finding I really don't like any of the breakfast options. It might be a good idea to try one breakfast for a week, and that might have to be something I count WPAs for, like a WW english muffin and a tbsp of pb. It IS what I'm craving in the morning, after all, and it might take the edge off my pb urges. Hmmm...will ponder.)
Lunch: meatloaf sandwich (on 1-pt bread) large bowl of roasted veggie soup (1-pt because of pb and sweet potato inclusion)
Dinner: ??
Weigh in tonight!

Thur 2/10
I'm going to try an experiment this week with my breakfasts, and let myself have the one I really want: an eng muffin (or a waffle) with peanut butter. I'll count the points for it -- I just have been really craving this as a satisfying breakfast, and so I'm going to see how it goes.
Breakfast WW English muffin with 1 T peanut butter (3 WPAs) coffee with skim milk and S'n'L
Mid-Morning Snack banana and water, water, water
Lunch tuna w/ff mayo and celery seed on a small ww pita with spinach and a slice of 2% cheese (2 WPAs) yogurt veggie soup d. Coke shortie
Possible mid-afternoon snack: giant navel orange
Dinner: steak cooked in olive oil baked potato w/1 tsp light margarine steamed spinach salad with small handful of 2% shredded cheese and ff caesar italian dressing

Heh. Funny, I was stressing all throughout dinner that I was eating too many WPAs today, but it turns out I only had 6. I can live with that.

Fri 2/10
Breakfast: coffee with skim milk eng muff with peanut butter banana
Lunch: coleslaw w/ff mayo and spices tuna salad with spinach on 1-pt bread yogurt
Snack: strawberries 2 mini peanut butter cups
Dinner: sloppy joe's (93% lean ground beef, tomato paste, onions, seasonings packet, garlic powder, olive oil spray) on a Thomas lite eng muffin coleslaw skim milk (not eaten: the sweet potato fries that I burned the ever-livin' tar out of *g*)
(Also not eaten: the strawberries I was planning on for dessert. Still full from dinner, so I skipped them.)

Not a good day -- way, way too many breads and not enough variety of veggies/fruit. I'll have to plan better for future days when I know dinner will be a type of sandwich. Also, not sure why I even bothered to have the pb cups -- it wasn't really worth it, and I was in a rush and didn't bother to enjoy them. I was ust hustling out the door at work, and they were there from the meeting I'd run that afternoon. But I wasn't stressed or craving or anything, they were just there.
Ah well. Tomorrow's another day.

Sat 2/11
Breakfast/lunch: I ate late (10am) because I was going shopping -- to a FABULOUS spice house, btw -- with a friend over lunchtime and I wasn't sure what we might do so I made sure I was full
I had: coffee w/skim milk scrambled eggs with soy cheese and onions leftover sloppy joe 1/2 english muffin w/ Polaner All-Fruit
WPA/AP: 1 pt
Snack/Lunch: Banana 4-5 chunks of fresh, piping hot cheddar cheese bread (Oh GOD, so good. It was literally steaming, the cheese was melted and soft, and WOW. Never had anything like it, and probably never will again.)
I would feel guilty about it, except you know what? The frequency of me going to the Mars Cheese Castle shop over the border in Wisconsin is extremely rare, and the chances that I will EVER go again when their legendary cheddar cheese bread just came out of the oven five minutes prior is likely a million to one. And if I'm not going to enjoy a food as delicious as this when a rare opportunity to do so arises like this, then there's just no point. It was good, and I enjoyed every taste of it, and I'm gonna call it ten points and move on.
WPAs: 10
Dinner (still at friend's house, bless her heart): roast chicken with seasoning and garlic and paprika kasha buttercup squash with cinnamon and sugar salad with oil and vinegar and salt and fresh ground pepper and italian seasonings one small piece of now-cooled cheese bread
WPAs (she was a little heavy on the oil in the salad): 4
If anything, the last piece of cooled bread could have been skipped, because it wasn't nearly as good as the stuff we ate in the car was. OTOH, it reinforced how darned good the warm bread was, which made me realize and appreciate how rare a treat that was.
But oh boy is my food gonna taste good now! I picked up a huge assortment of high-quality and fresh spices and seasonings, as well as unique and Core items from several other stores: -Kosciosko mustard -Bionare whole wheat penne -2 buttercup squash (which are creamier and richer than butternut) -pure Wisconsin maple syrup -applewood-smoked Canadian bacon (not the round patties, real actual Canadian bacon)
*smacks lips*
Oh, I will be eating very well this week. And next, and next... ;-)

Sun 2/13
Breakfast: banana coffee w/skim milk (wasn't really hungry then)
Lunch: tuna salad with sprouts on 1-pt bread tomato soup skim milk
Snack: giant navel orange and some strawberries
Dinner: chicken thighs roasted with rosemary, garlic, potatoes, onions and olive oil roasted veggies -- turnips, parsnips, carrots, beets, sweet potatoes brushed with a chicken-broth, garlic, thyme mix skim milk
Snack: 94% fatfree microwave popcorn
Note for future: Having now tried them in a good recipe, I can unequivocally state that I don't like beets or turnips. But the parsnips were great -- I'll have them again!
I prepped coleslaw and set up menus for the week, since DH will be here all week. I also rearranged another cabinet in the kitchen and unloaded a lot of non-Core food to go to a food pantry. Also bought a bunch of wonderful kitchen gadgets and holders from The Container Store. That place is the crack.

Mon 2/14:
Breakfast: eng muff with peanut butter (3 WPAs) coffee with skim milk
Lunch: strawberries tuna salad on 1-pt bread with sprouts (1 AP used) tomato soup a couple of bites of coleslaw (came out bad this time, so I didn't finish it)
Snack to be: banana and more strawberries
Am very proud of myself because today was our monthly Bagel and Cream Cheese day in the office, and I didn't indulge.
Dinner: baked sea bass couscous seasoned with curry green beans carrots
Snack: 1 3-pt piece of Ghiradelli chocolate skim milk I would have had homemade microwaved popcorn with oil, Splenda and cinnamon, but I burned it and only had a few bites of it. Will experiment again with less oil and less time.
Note to self: stop at Target on the way home and pick up a crockpot (the mini I had won't do the job)ETA: remembered! Whee, barbecue shredded pork tomorrow!

Tue 2/15
Breakfast: oatmeal with Splenda and cinnamon coffee w/ skim milk Had a banana and the quiche cups ready to go, but wasn't hungry for them.
Lunch: I am SO proud of myself for this one! diet Coke Last night, I cut up the leftover green beans and carrots and mixed them in with the curried couscous. Then I defrosted and then sauteed a frozen skinless chicken thigh, let it cool, chopped it up and added it to the mix. I nuked it for two minutes this afternoon, and voila! An all-Core lunch!
(Yes, I know it's just leftovers. But I haven't managed to make any leftovers taste good the following day, so I'm very excited I finally nailed it!)
Snack for the afternoon: banana, strawberries
Dinner to be: Another first-- I am slowcooking a BBQ-covered pork loin today. The recipe I got from the slow-cooker thread used 1/2 cup of brown sugar, so I'll count it as a point.
I'm also considering making cornbread, probably at 1 pt per piece. The recipe I found has applesauce and other low-fat versions in it...
Had brown rice instead Spinach and maybe salad for veggies
WPAs: 0 APs earned: 1 APs used: 1
Note: The sauce was burned to a crisp in the slow cooker, and the pork was pretty bland. Will have to continue to search for a good recipe...

Wed 2/16 Breakfast: eng muff with pb (3 pts) coffee with skim Snack: banana Lunch: -salad with sprouts, soy cheese and ff honey mustard (oooh, I love my handy new salad carrier -- you squirt the dressing when you're ready for it from the top of the container and then shake it up. Yummy) -more "leftover" cousous. Today I added another chicken thigh, some sauteed chopped onions, and more carrots to mix. Left half of it in the bowl, I was so full. -diet Coke shortie If I need a snack this afternoon, I've got kiwi and quiche cups and more of the couscous. By the way, I am SO pleased about figuring out how to make this -- I think I was thinking this had to be eaten cold, which didn't appeal at all. But I nuke it for two minutes, and all the flavors pop right back up. Love it! I'm planning other recipes where I add in brown rice, quinoa, maybe a chopped up scrambled egg, peas, etc. Yay for non-sanwichy lunches! Dinner to be: Not sure -- my meeting's tonight so it won't be until almost 8pm. I'm thinking about whole wheat pasta and the last of the spaghetti sauce, but I'm not sure. Dang, I wish Hubby hadn't finished off the BBQ pork last night. I was hoping to have that for tonight! ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) Weigh-in tonight! I'm curious to see how I do; after the steaming Cheddar Cheese Bread experience *g*, and all the PB English muffins I've had for breakfast, not to mention just squeaking in with 0 WPAs left, I'm not sure at all if I'll even lose this week. Guess I'll find out tonight! Also, my coworker who made a yummy BBQ pork loin last week recommended that next time I: 1. cook a bigger piece of meat (3-4 pounds) on low for 10 hours 2. Put water in the bottom of the pan along with the sauce, so it comes halfway up the meat. 3. Spray non-stick before putting any of it in.

Wed 2/16 add-on Weigh-in: down another 2.6 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!! That's 11.4 in a month!!!!!!! Oh my GAWD I love Core! *does somersaults of glee* Anyway, I had the last of my couscous medley before I went to meeting, and I was starved and overjoyed when I left. So I had a planned splurge, even though I only had 1-2 points to use. And I just don't care! ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) I had: two waffles with 2 tbsp peanut butter 2 slices 2% cheese slices BIG glass of skim milk The whole thing was 8 points. Wow, I really live on the edge, hunh? ;-) YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!! 2.6 pounds!!!!

Thur 2/17
Breakfast: coffee w/skim milk oatmeal
I got the new WW Core Maple and Brown Sugar flavored one at my meeting yesterday, although my leader did warn us it was sweet, and that we might want to mix half a bag with a half a bag of plain. Since I like sweet cereal, I figured I'd be fine.
UGHHHHHHH. The first few bites were fine, but by the time I was halfway though, it felt like I had a mouthful of chemicals. YUCK.
Dunno if I'll even bother trying it with plain blend.
Lunch: tuna salad on 1-pt WW bread with sprouts and a slice of ff Kraft "cheddar" cheese (ugh, I think that's gonna hit the trash too, it's so nasty tasting) tomato soup Yoplait ff blackberry yogurt (my tweak)
Dinner TBA: Undecided. Maybe I'll try the new ww pasta I bought, with the last of the spaghetti sauce, but I'm not sure what meat or veggies to add to it. Otherwise I will go with roasted chicken thighs with garlic, paprika, liquid seasoning and rosemary, with similarly-seasoned sweet potatoes, carrots and parsnips.
Yeah, that second one sounds GOOOOOOOD. That's what I'm having. Edited to add: Yes, that was what I had. It was YUMMY, and all Core!

Fri 2/18 Today's going to be a tough day: I'm going to a bachelorette/bridal shower party at an All You Can Eat CHOCOLATE Buffet (!!!!!!) tonight, and unfortunately, before I leave I have a lot of running around I have to do to get the bride a shower gift. Eeeep! So my plan is: to eat as full a dinner as I can before I go, and then just enjoy myself at the buffet and eat whatever appeals to me. I'll gauge how many points I use then, and mark 'em off my 35, and move on. I'm worried about dinner because time is an issue, but I have leftover chicken and carrots from last night, and I've threatened DH with pain of death if he eats them on me. I might also boil up some couscous too, if I have time. Anyway, onto today's food. I'll fill this in as my day goes along, so I will keep myself honest. I'd really like to enjoy myself tonight and still actually lose by weigh-in next Wednesday. In fact, that's my goal for the week -- any loss at all on Wednesday! Breakfast: coffee w/skim milk waffle w/ 1 T peanut butter (3pts) Snack: none Lunch: d. Coke last of the couscous medley salad with soy cheese, sprouts and ff honey mustard I ran out of time after that, but I do have a yogurt and some strawberries and kiwis if I get hungry later this afternoon. Dinner: leftovers from last night chicken thighs, carrots and parsnips (LOTS of those!), and some new couscous skim milk Am VERY satsified. *crosses fingers* Bonus Special Extravanganza: APs earned: 2 APs used: 2 WPAs used: 1 WPAs left for week: 34 Edited to say: OK, this is where I'm at before the Chocolate Extravaganza. Let's hope I can have fun but not TOO much fun there, if you know what I mean. ;-)

Okay, I have returned from the Chocolate Extravaganza, and I think I did very well!
It was held in the very swanky lobby of a very swanky hotel in downtown Chicago, and was just gorgeous. There was a large table artfully set up with a couple dozen types of small chocolate desserts, all petit-four style and not, thankfully, in giant binge size.
I ended up having about 7 separate pieces, 3 of which were FABULOUS chocolate-covered strawberries. The others were a tiny creme brulee, a bite of amaretto cheesecake, a "s'more" with a hard piece of marshmallow and dark chocolate on a graham-tasting gourmet biscuit, and one last piece I couldn't identify but I think had hazelnut.
I'm going to ballpark they averaged out to about an ounce of chocolate each, which is 21 WPAs. So I'll call it 25 WPAs to be safe.
SO, this week stat's are now:
WPAs used: 26 WPAs left for week: 9
Looks like I'll be trying to earn a OT of APs this week! ;-)
