Hi! I'm Patty and I'm 38 years old. I work outside the home full-time, and have 2 beautiful daughters who are 7 (almost 8) and 10 1/2. I live in Michigan with my husband, daughters, a dog, cat & rabbit. I've always had problems with my weight, especially once I had my kids. I lost 40 pounds by following other plans, like Body For Life and I'm 10 pounds away from goal now. It seems like every time I get close to goal I blow it. I love Core, and am trying to incorporate it into my meal plans so my whole family will be eating better. I've been an online WW member since March, 2003. I liked the Flex Plan, but I absolutely LOVE Core. This is the way I like to eat! Thanks to Kippy for starting this wonderful web site.

My name is Earnie, but I sign in as mauitn (Maui & Tennessee). I am a 59 yr. old female and today is my first day of retirement. My husband and I live in Monteagle Tennessee on top of the Cumberland Plateau about 45 miles West of Chattanooga and 90 miles South of Nashville.
I have never been over weight until about five years ago. I stopped smoking one month and the next month had a car accident. I ended up with a left broken arm (I am left handed) and a right broken knee cap. Nothing to do for a month but eat. After that, the weight just seems to have been creeping up. I tried low carb and lost a few pounds, but couldn’t stand all that meat and began craving the fruits and grains I couldn’t have.
I will be attending my first WW meeting tomorrow night (1/4/05) so I really know very little about the program. I would love to hear from anyone about the different plans (flex vs Core). I realize that I need to incorporate some sort of exercise in with this so I have joined a community center/gym which offers water aerobics which is good for me because of that knee and arthritis in my back. I live in a wooded community and so have lots of places to walk. I have some light weights to add into the mixture.
I love cooking, photography and reading. We moved into a new house one year ago so there are still lots of projects associated with that.

Hi CORE Pals,
My name is Becky and I work as a bookmaker for a casino in Reno, NV. (I oversee the Race and Sports Book.) It’s less fun and more work than one might think, but I do get paid to watch sports and horse racing. I’ve been married 29 years, no kids.
I joined WW in April, 2001, weighing 241.2 and reached goal of 155 in Sept, 2002. Made LT in Nov, and trained to be a leader, which I still do on an on-call basis around my “real” job. I was interviewed by local TV as a “Weight Loss Expert” for a New Year’s Resolution story in Jan, 2003. My success story was on the WW website in April, 2003 and re-run in 2004.
Alas, in spite of my success, I’m feeling myself slipping and I’m hoping that the CORE plan will be the tool I need to really and finally change my lifestyle to one that is healthy as well as livable. My biggest problem is that it was too easy for me to lose weight; I didn’t have to work hard the first time around and once I reached my goal, I was a little too smug about it. Now I realize I will have to put forth some real effort to get back to my goal and to maintain and, like everyone else, I hate to admit I need some help.
I haven’t been attending meetings regularly for a variety of reasons--admittedly, mostly flimsy excuses. After receiving so much attention from the other leaders and members, I feel like I’m not living up to their (and my) expectations. Sound familiar?
So, here is where I make a new start. A commitment to WW in general and to CORE in particular. I have to realize that these things make up a major part of my life and I have to tend to them accordingly. Pull them out of the background, so to speak.
Thanks for listening. I don’t post too often, but I do read the boards a lot and appreciate everyone’s input. I will get around to posting some recipes, soon.
Let's all have a successful CORE New Year. Becky

I am a mother of three boys and 1st grade teacher. I am soon to be 40 years old (Jan. 15). I started WW for my last time in Oct. So far I have lost 20 lbs. but am sticking in there to get the rest off. I have been on WW for years on and off and in the off times the weight just kept creeping up I am committed this time, I'm getting older and although I am healthy now I can forsee health problems if the weight continues to rise. I lost my daddy last year to heart, diabetes, and other problems so it has really made me stop and examine myself. Love this site!!

Hi Everyone!!! OK, I just wrote a big long thing, and then just had to play with all the cool buttons... and yes I lost it all. I hate that. Here we go again... My name is Michelle, I'm 28, and am struggling with weight loss. I've always been average (size 12) but suffered from depression right after college graduation, went on medication, and then gained a ton of weight... I now weigh almost 240 lbs and am miserable. I live with family, and work as an assistant teacher at a preschool. My life is being held back and I don't feel my age... I hardly ever hang out with friends outside of work and have never had a boyfriend. I had some luck with low carb last spring (lost 19 lbs) but gained it back since then. I think core is good for me, bc it has the factors i liked best about low carb... eat until satisfied and it curbs my sugar cravings, since i'm a binge eater. I'm praying that this will answer my prayers, and that along with the Curves workout, I will make a life for myself and possibly make up for those lost years. I hope we can help each other! Thanks for listening ;D

Hi, My name is Julie and I'm a Reading teacher for grades K-2. I just turned 44 in December and am happily remarried with 3 great kids, a fat orange cat and a minitature daschaund. I live in the Willamette Valley in Oregon until I can afford to move to the Bahamas! (kidding). I started WW a year and a half ago. For the first six months I did great and lost almost 45 lbs. Since Jan. of LAST year I have yo-yo'd with the same 2 or 3 lbs. and have basically lost nothing!! *sigh* For our two week Christmas vacation I was on the IDC diet (I Don't Care) and have gained at least 5 lbs. Soooooo, I am wanting to give Core a try and see if I can shake things up and get the rest of the weight off! I've come way to far to go back now, but a whole year of losing nothing has gotten really frustrating!
I just discovered this great website and am looking forward to meeting all of you and sharing support as well as recipes! ;D

Hi! I'm Kate. I just turned 31, and I've been off and on WW for about a year and a half. I've done core since October, but because of some personal issues, I haven't had much success.
However, I love Core, and want to continue it!
Oh, and this is a family affair. My mother, brother, and partner are also on Core!!

Hi, I'm Mary Ellen and live in upstate NY. I've been married to a great guy for 34 years. We have 4 daughters and 4 grandchildren, the youngest one will be 1 week old tomorrow. I work part-time as an office manager, sing in a choral group and love to travel. I'm just getting started (again) with WW and really like the Core plan. I'm going to take one day at a time and not worry about yesterday. This is a wonderful website and I personally think Kippy is a genius

Hello! I'm thrilled to find this wonderful place! I'm the 39 1/2 yo mom of DD, Ava, age 2 1/2, and DSS, Connor, age 6. I am a psychotherapist by profession, but mostly an at home mommy since Ava was born. I have just started working 2 meetings a week as a WW receptionist. Some day I'd love to become a Leader.
I first joined WW about 8 years ago and lost 25 lbs or so on the Exchange plan. Gradually gained it all back, went through a sad divorce, gained more. Met my current partner, became happy, gained more (lest we think we only eat when miserable, I am one who eats when happy or sad or angry or bored or . . . ). Tried to get pg, didn't get pg right away, gained more. Finally got pg, had a great pregnancy, ate very healthy, weighed less on the day after DD's birth than on the day she was conceived. Gradually gained weight through her first year of life. When she was 18 months I realized I weighed as much as I did when 9 mos pg. That was a wakeup call! Came back to WW in Nov '03 and lost 35 lbs on Flex Plan. Started Core in October '04, while stuck at a plateau. Finally made it to WW goal on 11/1/04. I am Lifetime and enjoying maintenance on Core. I am also working on very gradually losing about 4 more lbs, strictly for fitness and clothes-fitting purposes (am currently a bit between sizes). If the weight comes off, great, if not, I'm fine at this weight for now.
Starting BMI was 29.9. Current BMI 23.6.
I love the Core plan and am finding that it's healing my relationship to food. Having been an emotional eater for so many years, Core allows me to place my body's needs first, to nourish myself, and to confront the sugar monster.
Wishing everyone good eating and good health.

Hello! I was born and raised in Alaska, and ended up here in Georgia when hubby got out of the Navy in 1992. We live in Dallas, Ga. which is not far from Atlanta. I'm a grateful WW member and loving the program. This website looks like a lot of fun and a great place for support in addition to the WW website. I am 46, married for 28+ years, and have raised a daughter who is 27 and a son who is nearly 25 - both of our children are married. Hubby and I have a beloved dog named Millie who is our joy! God bless you! Glenda "TeddyBearFriend"

Hi everyone. I'm mom to two wild, wacky, wonderful, kids (5&8); I'm a midwife in So. Cal (via New England). And I turn 40 in three weeks (hooray!!!!). I've lost about 18 lbs, mostly on Core, since August (and those are 18 lbs I had put on in the prior 2 years). Since Thanksgiving I've really blown it and, while the numbers on the scale have (unbelievably) remained stable, my state of mind is in the garbage. After several months of eating better than I ever have, and feeling really great physically and emotionally, I started eating junk and have gotten into such a funk (the junk funk, eh??). The food-mood connection has been made utterly clear to me, and I am ready to get back on track. I lurked daily on the WW WPA thread, and part of my re-committment to healthy eating is to stop lurking and start participating. I feel like I know many of you, and am happy to have found you all again here on this new board (thanks Kippy). In terms of staying OP, I find obsessiveness really helps. My biggest challenge is excercise. WHY am I so unmotivated? To combat this, I registered to do the 3Day Breast Cancer Walk in San Diego next October. That's 60 miles in 3 days. And I paid money to register, so I have to follow through. That means I have to train. THAT means I have to excercise regularly. Egad I'm in trouble (positivethinkingpositivethinkingpositivethinking..... ) Looking forward to posting here, and delighted to have all your brilliant support. -krb

I love the introductions! I'm so glad I found my way here! I'm Rhonda, and I'm 45, married, and have 3 teenage sons. I live in Chattanooga, TN. I've been on just about every version of WW at some point from my early 30s on. I had always been slender until the kids came along and I stayed at home with them. I've developed horrible habits along the way, plus a love for fast food! I think all my past failures with WW were because I was never ready to commit to it for life. I've come full circle with it now and am ready. I'm very intrigued with core, and will be "officially" starting tomorrow after I go grocery shopping! I work full-time from home, and I'm going to have a hard time meeting my work quota from playing around on the board! Kippy, this is awesome. I've been on the WW board for some months, but I tend to get "annoyed" at times with the happenings there. I'm looking for support and ideas!

Hi everyone, finally got a chance to register over here. I've been reading at the core board, and doing core since it began.....been at maintenance, and it has been a great tool for maintaining, and finally learning how to live my life w/o counting every single point for the rest of my life!
My name is Theresa, 37 years old in NJ. Married with 2 boys...ages 12 and 5.
Been doing WW about 2.5 years.....at goal for over a year. Did it online only, and lost 135 pounds in about 18 months.
I've really been enjoying all the new recipes, and always love new ideas! Hope to share some good ideas too!
Thanks Kippy!!

Hello all,
Missed the birth of this site earlier in the week, but I found it today (unless you were trying to hide it from me...were you?).
I'm 29, going to be 30 in a few months, single, no children. I've always been "plump" but when I started working after college, "plump" shifted into the extremely well padded zone. I put on my final 30 pounds in the past 2 1/2 years, topping out at 213. Most of those recent 30 pounds are now gone thanks to Core, but I'll be working my butt off to get the rest of the baggage I've been carrying around for years.
I live in SE NM with my younger sister (also on Core, kind of by default), my fur-baby (my wonderful dog), and two cats. I joined WW online in September, as soon as I heard about Core. I switched to meetings when a meeting finally came my way. Currently, I work as a safety coordinator for a local oilfield water hauling company. Hopefully in the spring I'll start teaching English at the local community college, though. We'll see.

Hello everyone, I am Heather, married mom to DS 5 1/2, and DD 2 1/2. I am a SAHM and part time student. I am doing the prerequisites for a nursing program which I am hoping to start next January. I have been heavy my whole life. My mom (who is on this board somewhere too...hi mom ) and I joined WW for my first time when I was 10. Maybe it was that not being a success, or other times not being successful, but I havn't really dieted with a 'real' diet program since I was a young teen. I just got bigger and bigger. Funny thing is none of that bigger was baby weight...I actually lost a few pounds with each pregnancy. I'm also a vegetarian (have been since I was 9). So, with this intensive nursing program I'm trying to get into, I finaly decided it was time to do something 'real' about my weight. One of the things asked on the application is to write an essay about personal care. Well, I figured I couldn't honestly write an essay about caring for myself if I didn't actually care for myeslf. So, I started caring! LOL I was in the middle of researching diet plans online when Core came out. I saw the list of what we could eat, and thought I could actually do 'that.' As a vegetarian, a lot of plans are so restrictive it actually makes it harder to diet...but not Core! So, I talked to my mom, and we decided to join together. We started WW, and Core on 9/27/04, and havn't looked back. I LOVE it, and know I can do it for the long haul. So, I guess that's me in a nutshell...it's nice to 'meet' all of you. Heather
