Hi! I'm 55, married, and have 2 grown daughters of whom I'm very proud (that they turned out so well despite their mother!). I also have 2 boys of the 4-footed variety.
I have all the diet books, but have never been able to commit to a program or even stick to a plan for more than a few days. Should I be vegetarian, do South Beach, the Zone, Atkins, etc. etc.? I was so tired of bingeing, being obsessed by food and am so grateful that I joined WW just when Core was being rolled out for all in August. I've stuck with the program since then and am about halfway to my goal of losing 50 lbs.
I still have the occasional desire to binge even doing Core, but I try to keep the binge food to items such as 94% FF popcorn. For me, that is a victory. I know that losing the weight is only the beginning as the next phase of this great adventure will be learning to keep it off.
Thank you Kippy for creating Hard Core-ner! Thank you all for sharing your thoughts/ideas.
Karen

Good Morning all! It's been fun reading about everyone. Sort of "puts a face with a name." I'm Tracy, and I live in Washington with my DH of 17 years and my 3 boys, 14, 11,and 8. Let's just say, our house is FULL of testosterone at most times! I work full time, and all 3 of my boys play sports, so we are busy! My weight has just sort of crept up on me, one day I looked at an old picture, and couldn't believe that I used to be thin! I've lost about 30 pounds, and would like to lose 10-15 more. I love core, and find it easy to manage, enjoy feeding my family in a healthier way.

Hi all--my name is Louise--Kippy--I too am hypothyroid and menopausal--as a matter of fact, I went thru menopause at 35 due to a autoimmune disorder--I lose weight very slowly--sometimes not at all, despite lots of exercise and diligent food intake. I am a clinical psychologist specializing in neuropsychology. I have a very busy practice here in wine country in Northern California. Married to a lawyer and have two great kids--a son at UC santa barbara and a daughter who is teaching in Boston. I am in my 40's for another couple a weeks I joined WW 3 years ago at 225 lbs. I have been heavy all my life. I am now (I think, cause I don't go to meetings since starting Core and I don't weigh myself) in the low 170's. I have really really big bones so I can wear size 10 pants (with enough lycra in 'em! ) Core has been the magic bullet I have been waiting for my entire life. I immediately stopped going to meetings, because Core means no more compulsivity about food. I don't want to get weighed and count things--I want to be sane, and with Core I feel liberated--i feel sane. I have been dropping weight slowly (VERY slowly)--but I hadn't lost anything at all on flex, despite rigorous point counting--probably in a year. There is something about the Core foods that works with my system-- I make Core work with my busy lifestyle. cereal/fruit/milk for breakfast; a can of progresso soup for lunch; yogurt and fruit for snack--and then a regular Core dinner. SOOOOOOO easy. If I am hungry between meals, I have a piece of fruit or some milk. Like all you other Corers, the liberation of having fruit or a nf latte as a snack is the best! Kippy--you may be getting tired of all of our idealization but you and the other hard corers (Moonie, Jeddomom, etc) have been extraordinarily helpful. Rock on.

I don't know how I missed this thread...guess I'm not used to this board just yet.
Anyway, my name is Nikki and I am 36 and live in Central NJ. I am married for just over a year and have no kids (except for my two kitties).
I have struggled with 10-20 extra pounds for years. I have joined WW countless times over the years but never really made it past a few weeks for one reason or another. I was once successful losing about 14 pounds (using another program) when I was about 22 years old and got to 118 pounds. (I'm 5'2"). Of course, I gained it all back and then some. When I heard about Core I signed up once again for WW and I am LOVING it. So far I am down 17 pounds and I just can't say enough good things about the program and about the people on the WW board and now this board.

Hi everyone! Thanks for doing this Kippy! We are all forever grateful!
My name is Marji, and I have been a WW member for about 2 years. I don't have a lot to lose, but I use WW as a way to get myself healthy. I tend to be an "overeater", and I have loved the lifestyle change that comes with WW.
I started core about 4 months ago, and I am thrilled with the way I feel when I'm on it. It makes me feel creative, healthy, and satisfied. I am able to eat the foods that I like, and that fill me up. What could be better. I am so glad we've started this board to extend our "Weekly Points Allowance" board! Thanks Kippy!
xo, Marji

Hi! I'm Lynda from Wichita, Kansas, I'm 52 years old, 5'3" with a very slow metabolism. I have a grown son and daughter, 8 grandchildren, and a husband of 15+ years who loves me no matter what size I am. Our main pasttime is motorcycle touring - lots of opportunities to eat out with friends - not great for the waistline. In my adult life my weight ranged from 95 pounds (I was too miserable to eat) to mostly around 125 until I married Dave! I panicked at 185 and starved down 10 pounds. After several years at 175 I couldn't seem to lose on any plan. I lost inches but not pounds doing more than a year of Curves, I gained on Atkins, I even faithfully followed Flex for a month and didn't lose a pound. Then came Core and the last 15 years of gains started to melt away. For me it wasn't HOW MUCH, it was WHAT I ate that counted! I feel great, look better, and now have several friends who want to do what I'm doing. I love natural foods and I can eat this way for life! Many thanks to Kippy and to all the helpful people on the WPA board and here for sharing all of your ideas, recipes, and suggestions that bring this plan to a really useable form.

My name is Sandy. I am 40+ years old from CT. I am married, have a 21-year old daughter, and I am currently unemployed. I have been an on-and-off WW for like 20 years now. When my daughter was born, my ob/gyn recommended that I go to WW to take off my "baby weight" I have actually been very successful at times but then something comes up and I take time off, the weight comes back on and then some . My final straw was when my daughter graduated from high school. The pictures of us made me cringe (and they still do). I weighed 225 pounds, wore size 22, and had no energy! I remember how I'd take laundry up from the basement and have to fold it on the couch on the first floor. Although others didn't think it was any big deal, I knew I was doing this because I just couldn't bring the laundry up the two flights of stairs without resting and catching my breath. I joined the September she left for college and vowed that I wouldn't quit EVER! Things were going rather well this go-round until I became ill. I had some serious medical issues and had to have surgery. Now I'm committed to getting to goal for my daughter's college graduation this May.

Hope I'm not too late - My name is Tricia, I'm 58 and live in Durham, NC. Married 39 years to my HS sweetheart, have daughter - 33 this month who lives in Smyrna, GA, son - 29 who lives in Roanoke, VA with his wife and my only granddaugther who is 4 (she was a micro-preemie who weighed 1.9 pounds at birth so is our miracle). I was very think growing up and know now it was because my Mom cooked Core most of the time even if it was Southern. Lots of dried beans and veggies. Started gaining weight after getting married and going on the BC pill (back then they were so strong you almost grew a beard). Became Lifetime back in the late 70's and then kept gradually gaining. Reached what I thought was all-time high of 191 and went to Diet Center in 1986. Lost 60 pounds in 6 months. Of course it started coming back very rapidly and that really scared me. I decided to just accept me for who I was and that worked for awhile. Then my Chol. was high and I did WW for about 3 months to get it down about 4 years ago. It worked but the weight didn't stay off (wonder why?). The I tried the Wellness Center and a low-fat program and lost 23 pounds but that cause me to have to have gall-bladder surgery, son got married and moved away and daughter's marriage started falling apart. Add to that company I managed sold out to huge company who sold to another company who sold to another company which had me flying all over the place so I came to work from home. That worked well until the granddaughter was born at which time the industry I was in fell through the floor. Make a long story short - I joined WW again for last time January 2003 - had little accident and BP was just a little elevated. Decided it was time to get with the program. Don't want to be on meds - want to be able to play with my DGD, have completely different mind-set. I have "no choice". WW will be my life from now on. Lost 53 pounds first year and kind of plateaued and wishy-washed 2004 and only lost about avg of 12 pounds BUT - did not gain. I'm not in any race. I'm more than half way to goal and since this is my life, not anxious about when. I LOVE Core and feel this is my year to reach goal or come pretty close. Thank you Kippy, JeddoMom and moonie for all your inspiration and this site Kippy. I've been coming to the boards to "jump start" this year and it has worked. Thanks again. Sorry if I rambled too much.

Starting Weight 219.6 Goal Weight 132 Height 5'1" Present Weight 132 Body Fat% 45% Now 14.3% Mommy, Why are you so fat? How come you don't run very fast? Why do your legs rub together when you walk? These were all comments that I received from my children but most especially my daughter who I definately did not want to have a wieght problem. So I needed to finally set a good example. So after giving birth to triplets 1995 and watching my weight steadily climb and my self esteem plummet, enough was enoough and in June of 2002 I decided that I was important and I could make time around everyones schedule to do something for me. That something was a water aerobic class at the local pool and a Weight Watcher meeting. I new I had a long way to go when I started - but I set many small goals along the way. By the end of the summer I hoped to loose 20 pounds, I exceeded that and lost 29. I was on a roll but what to do now that summer was over and the outdoor pool is closed. At this point I looked at our local Sport Health Club that had a new pool complex as well as cardio machines, weight machine and free weights. I enjoyed the water classes but decided it was time to branch out. One of my weight loss goals had been to hire a Personal Trainer; so I contacted one of the clubs personal trainers and she set me up with an Upper Body and Lower Body weight training program as well as cardio training program. For the person who failed gym class, weight training has become fun and I truely enjoy my time at the gym. My children are thrilled with their skinny and active MOM, and they know how important Mommy's time at the gym is for her and for them. My daughter now takes great pride in showing off her new skinny Mom and she loves to tell me I look like one of the 6th grade students when I am up volunteering at their school. My boys like the new clothes that I buy in bright colors. Cindy The New Skinny Mom of Triplets Kippy, Thanks again for all you do to help people understand the Core Plan. ;D
