I really feel like crap today - so I'm glad I went. Dr. gave me a prescription for a 5-day Z-Pac (Zithromax), so I'm hoping it will work and kick in shortly. However, just went to the pharmacy to pick it up and they never received the fax from the doctor - pisses me off. So now I wait.
Weather here is great - 64 degrees - walking (instead of driving) to pick up from school.
Have a good one...

Beth: I am so sorry you feel so bad. I hope you get your drugs soon!
Didn't do yoga but went on a short walk. Food was a bit of a struggle today. I dug into my WPA a bit and have to be good the rest of this week. So yoga tomorrow definitely. It will work better with my schedule than it did today which will help. I hate those long runs across town to do errands!
Good things: I am being honest in my recording and over all made good choices. Went to the cheesecake factory and had the light chinese chicken salad and NO cheesecake. Did dig into the bread plate but recorded those points.
How are you doing Cathy? Hope you feel better Beth!!!!!!

Morning all-
I feel slightly better today. By the time I got my drugs it was 4:00, I took it and some Advil and then headed to the couch. I'm going to weigh in this morning - it's been 2 weeks and although I've been good the last several days I wasn't necessarily great the week before. Whatever it will be, it will be! I'm really glad to be checking in with you guys again.
Cynthia - way to go at Cheesecake Factory. I really like an Ahi Tuna salad that I get there. Their menu is so damn big! My son loves their grilled cheese, it's as big as his head.
I'm debating on walking with my WW friends today. The weather is really nice. Maybe I'll do a short one, just a lap. I don't have to pick up from school today until 4:30 but I have lots to do at home this afternoon and I need to hit the grocery store!
Hope you have a great day!
-Beth

Hey good morning and Happy Friday, girls!! ;D Yesterday after lunch turned into an Excedrin day but it worked in 10 minutes and that was it. Temps are higher here today but it's dreary, maybe rain. As long as it's not cold ... should be a great weekend. WTG on the Cheesecake choices, Cynthia!! That is such a hard place to eat! Good for you for writing everything down. Beth - don't walk unless you truly feel up to it. Give yourself time to heal. And sickness messes up WI so record it and move on. I am still in my Core/filling foods groove of writing down what I eat and 90% of the time watching how much of it is on my plate. I have an "eat out" weekend (for dinners anyway). I will WI on Sunday and see what it says.

Ladies -
I am feeling SO MUCH BETTER - I feel like a fog has lifted. Drugs are a wonderful thing.
I weighed in at exactly the same as I was 2 weeks ago - 133.4 - which is where I seem to have settled for the last year. I made a pact with 4 other women at my meeting to go for 1 pound next week. I did do about a 30 minute walk with them. The weather here is unbelievable (for Chicago) - 65 degrees. You don't need a jacket.
Just went to the grocery store and going now to meet some family members for lunch. Have lots to do at home this afternoon. Tonight I am going to a food product tasting at a girlfriend's house - lots of dips, etc. Will try and have a decent dinner beforehand so I don't go there hungry! The rest of my weekend is also lots of eating out Cathy - tomorrow night we are going to an event downtown which is a cocktail thing with heavy apps. Hopefully not everything will be fried.
Have a terrific weekend!
-Beth

Friends -
I am so glad you are feeling better Beth. Drugs are a wonderful thing to have around when you need them. Congrats on maintaining. That counts!
Today has been excellent. I went to yoga for 1.5 hours. Ate really good, and turned down ice cream and pie on two different occasions. Oh my! I am going out for crepes for dinner tonight but if I stay away from cheese I should be able to stay on points. I have to say I thought of you both cheering me on today as I was standing in front of the yogurt shop debating getting a small yogurt. I turned away mostly because I wanted to tell you both that I did!
Yoga was good and more difficult than usually since my teacher was being tested. She really kept us moving which felt great. I love Iyengar yoga but it isn't very aerobic.
So have a good evening. Have fun at your party Beth! Good luck with you WI Cathy.

Hi everyone,
Well I made it through a very busy Saturday. I did so much housework that I even counted points for it. We cleaned out the basement which hadn't been properly organized since we moved into our home in October.
Food was pretty good. Got too hungry this afternoon and was having a bit of crisis when my partner suggested that I get a kids meal. I did and it was very small but enough to hold me over to dinner. So not too bad overall.
My mom is coming to spend the day with me tomorrow and I am sure I can get her to go on a long walk and burn some calories that way tomorrow. This are going well. WI on monday. Cross your fingers.

Sunday report: I am glad to say that I got through my first WW week and completely and honestly stayed on points. I did good.
Tomorrow morning I will WI in my bedroom and let you kow how things went. The first week is always about 5lbs down so the number should be good. It is the following weeks that actually will count for me.
Hope you are both having a nice weekend.

Hello and Happy Monday! Yeah right. Congrats on doing so well this weekend, Cyn! Beth - I hope you are feeling better and better!! I too did 4-5 hours of housework on Saturday - I was exhausted. But due to eating too much salty food (not a lot, but salty) - I gained 1 lb. yesterday. Up and down ... I am drinking up a storm for the next 2 days!! I'm really trying to put those healthy nutrition rules into place. Beth - you should post here for Cynthia to read, unless you want me to copy them in. I really plan on incorporating those into my life - eat to support my activity - not exercise like mad because I eat too much! Duh. Have a great day!

Well I am down 7 lbs from my start weight. It is a bigger jump then usual but I also started at an all time high so it was probably 70% water. Nevertheless, I am very happy about the good start to my loss.
Lost of exercise this week since I am working Mon, wed, friday so that will be great. Also going to try and do yoga on Tues, Thurs.
Healthy quidelines? Do people actually do those. I am definitely taking my vitamines, and should focus more on water during the day. Got my exercise. What else? fruits and veggies I guess.

Here are those guidelines - let me know what you think. This is from a trainer I did a boot camp class with last year....
I was fortunate enough to hear nutritionist Dr. John Berardi speak recently, and he shared 5 great guidelines for meal design that will help keep you lean.
1) Eat supportive foods every 2-3 hours. Dr. Berardi cited a study wherein the two groups consumed the same amount of food each day, but one group ate 3 meals a day, while the other just split their 3 meals into 6. The 6-meal per day group ended up much leaner than the 3/day group, and had better blood profiles as well.
2) Eat lean proteins at each meal. The best rule of thumb for choosing protein is 'the less legs, the better.' Fish is better than chicken is better than beef. Lean proteins are filling, elevate your metabolism, and make the energy you get from a meal last longer.
3) Eat a vegetable at each meal. Veggies are 'free foods' in every calorie-counting program I can think of, and contain lots of fiber and essential nutrients.
4) Choose fruits/veggies as your primary source of carbs at each meal, and save the starchy foods - breads, pastas, etc - for post-exercise meals. The body will break those foods down better, and will better use the sugars in those foods without negatively affecting blood sugar levels.
5) Eat some healthy fats each day. Sounds like an oxymoron, but there are healthy fats! Fish, nuts, avocado... all good for you, your heart, your skin...
I think these are great, simple rules to design a food program with! Dr. Berardi states that our lives should be nutrition- driven, as opposed to exercise driven. While a combination of both is important for optimal health, if you focus on your exercise as a way to let you eat whatever you like, you're likely to gain weight when your activity level decreases.
However, if you're putting these nutrition rules to work first, you're already eating to support your activity (instead of having to be active to manage your eating!)
Great stuff, Dr. B!
I had an okay weekend food-wise, but great otherwise. I feel GREAT! Like I could run a marathon (I wouldn't of course). Went spinning today. Did pretty well, except for a few fries and chips at dinner tonight - BAD, BAD, BAD!
Cynthia - WAY TO GO on that huge drop - keep it up!
Cathy - you know that your gain was due to salt so I hope you're not too discouraged.
Hope you both had a terrific day!
-Beth

Whooo hooooo Cynthia for the loss!! What a great first week. Beth - thanks for posting the Dr. Berardi stuff so I can view it whenever I come on here! Maybe then it will stick in my head. WI at Work today ... we'll see how much I gained on their scale. No no be positive ... see this is half my problem. Always negative. I am having a really busy day at work so be back later - if not - tomorrow! Have a good day!

Thanks for the info Beth. That is good stuff.
Cathy: I gain a lb just by looking at salt. It will be ok.
After my workout yesterday I was famished. Happily I dug into the cutie oranges and ff popcorn on the counter at work. Still ate about 7 of my WPA which is a lot considering it is my first day of the week. So todays goal is no WPA so I can have a few extra later. Worked out yesterday: 7 minutes running on treadmill and the 40 minutes on the elyptical machine. I am trying to get myself up to running 10 minutes.
Today I am going to yoga and getting my son up and going on his science fair project. Have a good one ladies. Stay strong.

Hey all - hope you're having a good day today. The temps here have dipped back down - it was 61 degrees yesterday and it's 21 degrees today. Gotta love Chicago!
I'm not looking forward to weighing in this week. I've been feeling a bit munchy, probably because I'm headed for my period this weekend. Today I went spinning so that was a great workout. For dinner I'm making chicken tenders baked with Dijon mustard and whole wheat panko bread crumbs, baked oven fries and broccoli. I am looking forward to it! I will probably have some soup fairly soon though because I am already hungry. I need to get back to tracking though - it really does keep me honest. Okay, I'm going to go on e-tools right now and do it!
Hope you are both having a great day!
-Beth

How did the tracking go Beth? Kudos for seeing that you need to track for a while.
I have been struggling with holding off on eating until the next meal and just being too hungry in between. I think that I need to eat more at the beginning of the day so it will hold me a bit longer. I get crazy hungry around 4 or 5 in the afternoon and I agree Beth, I think it is harder the week of your period. I am always very hungry the first few days.
I did yoga yesterday and did my standard firehouse 40 (on the ellyptical) so I have done well on exercise.
So I will just keep on keeping on. One day at a time. I am going to do this...this journey to better health...this journey to feeling good and strong....this journey to taking care of myself....
