Thanks Katherine for reviving the thread.
I am reading an incredible book. It's called "Self Made Man: One Woman's Journey into Manhood and Back" by Norah Vincent.
If any of you read "Black Like Me," the true story of a white man who took skin injections to pass as black, this book is somewhat similar. The author passes as a man and immerses herself in diverse men's cultures from bowling clubs to living with monks.
I thought it would be a good read, but I was wrong. It is a GREAT read. Vincent's willingness to have depth of experience partnered with her deep insights give me a view into the world of men, male friendships and communication that blows my mind. I highly recommend it.

I also love James Patterson and have read a lot of his stuff.
But I LOVE T. Jefferson Parker also - I recommend The Blue Hour, Red Light, Cold Pursuit, The Triggerman's Dance, Black Water...all excellent.
Children's - I don't have any kids but I just bought and re-read The Hobbit, I'm so into the LOTR, I am going to buy those books next and then more Tolkien.
