Well, I've done everything late in my life. Late second career (nursing to medicine), late to have kids (was 34 y.o. with my first), late to find True Love in my life (I'm 49 years old and married one year to the Love of My Life), and NOW...late for introductions! Well...better late than never, eh? My name is Susie. I'm a physician (specialty is psychiatry) and I'm mostly-retired now. I take emergency call for a nearby rural community hospital, and only have to go see a patient once or twice a month, so I am mostly at home. I have two sons, ages 14 and 13, two special kids who mean the world to me. My older son faces special challenges, as he Asperger's Syndrome, a kind of high-functioning autism. I am interested in a ton of things - organic gardening, herbal and alternative medicine, local history (I'm writing a novel that's historical crime), and I'm a passionate cook. I also enjoy reading cookbooks and old housekeeping manuals. I'm putting as much of my creative energies into staying home as I did when I worked long hours at the hospital, and I'm loving it. I was always a "chunky" child, but during my unhappy first marriage, weight really crept up on me, and just took on a life of its own after that. I hit my high of 229 lbs. a couple of years ago, and lost the first 25 pounds on my own, doing "mindful eating" and exercise. When I stalled, I joined WW in Sept. of 2004, and started with Core. I've lost nearly 20 pounds since then, and am very happy with Core, it's health benefits as well as weight loss benefits. Core ROCKS! Susie

Well, I guess I am the last to reply. My name is Sondra. I have been on ww this time since October and just got my 10 pound ribbon. It is slow, but it is a wonderful way of life. I live in South Jersey about an hour from Atlantic city. I have a daughter, almost 4 and a son who is 5 months old today. I am a sign language interpreter home on maternity leave for one more month. I go back and forth between points and core. I love core, but run out of lunch and breakfast ideas. I would welcome any ideas. Thank you for this board and any advice, Sondra

Hi... my name is Shelia. I'm 33 yrs old, married for close to 15yrs, I have 3 kids... 12, 10 & 4, and I work as a Registered Nurse in cardiology. I was never overweight until I got married (although I always perceived myself to be fat). After being married 1yr, my husband went away to boot camp (NAVY) and I lost 25lbs in the 8 wks. he was gone... ate little, exercised much. I proceed to gain weight with each pregnancy... always taking some off post-partum, but NEVER getting back to where I started. I lost 30lbs with WW winning pts in 1997, never got to goal, just fell off the wagon and never got back on. Like someone else said, I have tried everything from low-carb, low-fat, atkins, south beach etc... In 1999, on Christmas day, my father died suddenly of a massive heart attack at age 48. His mother also died the same year with a heart attack. I'm doing this for my health and the welfare of my family. I have resolved that it's time to stop the nonsense and as Dr. Phil says... "put losing weight on project status" I'm starting a support group with about 10 or so people at my church for motivation and moral support. I know this board will be a LIFESAVER. Looking forward to getting to know people better.
triciak... I live about 50 miles from Roanoke, VA... worked at Roanoke Memorial Hospital for 5yrs

Hi, My name is Barbara and I feel like I don't belong here because I am much older than any of you, but I feel so very young and relate to younger generation well. I have 3 adult children. 2 daughters, 1 son. I have a great time with my girls and my daughter-in-law, who is like my own. I can out shop all of them.
I started with a weight problem after some surgery in my mid 40's. Worked hard on my own to keep my weight down. Was diagnosed with Breast cancer 9 years ago and was on tamoxifin for 5 years. All He$$ broke loose and I gained 30 lbs and have not been able to get it off. At the present time I am about 30 lbs. overweight. I am a slow loser and not disciplined enough. With feet and knee problems I can't exercise except for water exercise and I don't like that sort of exercise. I feel like a loser, literally, but I will hang in and see if I can get this weight off. Love your site Kippy and thanks for your devoted effort to help others.
I forgot to mention I have 7 grand children ranging from 8 months to 23 years of age and a wonderful husband of 47 years. They are my loves.

My name is Rhonda,I am starting core mon. 1-3-04. I have 78 lbs to lose to get to my goal of 140. I have been off and on WW my entire adult life. More off then on though. I have lost, maintained and gained back several times. My most recent was 6 years ago when I went back to school I gained 40 lbs. in a very short time. By the time I graduated I had even put on more. I have been out of school almost 2 years so its time to kick things in gear. I work third shift and it can be a dieters nightmare. When do you eat. It might easier on core. Looking forward to a great Weightloss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone,
My name is Anne. I'm 49, divorced long-time, with two grown DD's ages 27 & 29, 1 fantastic grandson age almost-7. I have been doing the sandwich-generation thing for quite awhile, one DD is a single mom and lived with me while she was in nursing school. Both parents are in their 80s, one in poor physical health and one with Alzheimers. Been through a couple of years of crazy career-changes too.... LOTS of excuses to overeat.
Anyway - single-mom DD is graduated & moved out, parents are going to assisted living, I'm in a career I LOVE now (ministry) so the stress levels are way down. I feel like I'm entering the best time in my life - hot flashes or not. Relocated from a larged metropolitan area last year to a small town (pop 2300) and hence the screen name.
I started-again with Core on 10/12/04 and I love it. LOVE. IT. I can live this way! I have my ups and downs, but never due to the program. It's the best, and I plan to make a permanent llifestyle of Core and exercise (Curves for me right now)
Thanks for all your support on the WW boards and here too!
Annie/STG

Good Morning! I am so very glad to have found this spinoff board! I am recommitting to WW and to Core and need all the support I can find! I am Maryjane, 44 years old and a culinary instructor. I'm married to the love of my life and we have a blended family of five kids ranging from 18 to 22...three out of five in college with one more going next September..I'm thinking of selling off various organs... Anyway, I'm also hypothyroid and there is a strong history of diabetes, hypertension, etc. in my family. I had done very well on WW a couple of years ago, but just plain stopped paying attention. I *neeeeeeeddddd* to start my 45th year in good health and also need to start paying attention again! I did core for about a month this fall and truly never felt better. Why did I stop??? (fortunately I never claimed to be bright!!) All that said, I'm glad my journey led me back to WW and to this forum! Such a great, diverse group of people!! To Core!!!!

Greetings from Southcentral PA!
I'm a 48-year-old lifetimer, used to be a WW leader, then quit to go back to school for ultrasound technology. I have a very understanding and lovable DH. We have a DS who's 22, just graduated from college and temporarily living at home. We also have a DD who's 20 and unfortunately estranged to us at this time.
I lost my weight with Winning Points, but I was always hungry. I used my points for junk food and depended on vitamins and calcium supplements more often than I should have to make up the slack in nutrition. I jumped on the Core wagon in Sept '04, and my results echo everyone else's here--it is such a healthy, satisfying nutritional lifestyle for me.

Thanks again Kippy, for all of your knowledge and for setting up this site for everyone to share!

I wanted to wait for my first weigh-in before I wrote my intro ;D I lost 50 pounds on winning points and flex 2 years ago. I gained it all back due to stress and my Dad's year long battle with cancer that finally took him last Sept. My Mom and I immediately moved west after his death and all the stress of the year made me pack on all the pounds I lost. Now that I know I can lose weight, I'm trying again, this time with core and loving it! Maybe I can stay in onederland for more than a few weeks this time ;D by the way, I lost 13 pounds during my first 2 weeks on core. It works!

My name is Christen. I'm 23, and am a full time college student, studying physical therapy. I've been overweight my whole life, and have been on tons of diets. I keep coming back to WW. I also keep falling off the wagon But since core, I feel like I can really work the program for real, and adopt it as a true lifestyle change, rather than a quick fix.
