Sulee - way to go girlfriend! You should be proud of yourself, you've worked really hard and have been really dilligent. I am proud of you!
Kate - great to hear you're back on track this week!
Ema - hope your hip is feeling better soon. Do you think it's the running?
This week has brought about some unexpected events. On Monday my cousin (61 yrs old) had a heart attack so since then I have been watching my cousin (his daughter's) baby so that she could be in the hospital with him. We watched the baby from 2:30-8:30 Monday, 9:00-5:00 yesterday and will be watching him again this morning. Hopefully he is going home from the hospital today so this will be the last day. I don't really mind, he is a really good baby and it is such a treat to be taking care of a baby for me! My husband has never wanted more than one child and my "baby" just turned 5 so a baby he is no more. Unfortunately that feeling has never been mutual but alas I can't have a baby on my own! So anyway, this has really been my pleasure. However, it has kept me in the house during my morning time while DS is in school and away from the gym! Last night I did Day 2 of Week 2 of C25K while DS watched a movie in the basement. Today maybe I'll do a workout DVD while the baby is napping.
Sounds like everyone is doing great this week! As grim as January is with the weather it is always a chance to start off fresh.
Have a good day everyone!!

Hi there Valentines, I haven't updated by goals for a couple of weeks probably because i also didn't make it to a meeting last week...but this week i did! + to attend weekly WW meetings I did it! I went to a meeting, again. I was again rushed so i didn't stay long but i got weighed ++ to exercise each and every day Still nursing my injured leg BUT i danced kind of full out today in a class I was teaching and it felt fine. Now I have to get past whatever else seems to be standing in the way of my activity+++ to eat in a core way Successfully added more protein and i feel like I'm eating less but that feeling isn't substantiated because I've not been very faithful about.... the next goal PS This is exactly what i wrote two weeks ago, i just copied it right in to this week's review as nothing changed...DANG!++++ to journal everything, even if i go over weekly points or it's painful for me to admit to Not so faithful +++++ to Lose weight, period 2 pounds gone - yay!!I do feel like I'm in a groove, cooking, saying no to snacking too much, knowing I can LIVE if i wait till x or y or z to eat, bringing stuff with me if I'm afraid I won't have access to core things. But I've been here before so there will be no smug attitude from this gal. I've just got to work the plan and then it works for me but Holy (super lean) Hamburger, Batgirls, that ain't so easy all the time. If only i had a utility belt like the Dynamic Duo with a magic weight loss tool! But since I have to do it one pound at a time, I SURE AM GLAD you Valentines are here to work this thing with me! **big puffy pink heart**

Confession time: Today was a rough day and I ate things that are so not Core. I did use the mantra, similar to the one somebody (Cynthia?) suggested, "I am feeling stressed and that's why I'm eating." It didn't keep me from eating, but it did make me more mindful and at least honest about what I was doing. Long story short: cheez-its and chocolate kisses at long boring meeting, and then LOTS of pizza for dinner with kids. I even told them, "I had kind of a frustrating day and I feel like eating comfort food." My son said, "That's okay, Mom; you'll work it off at the gym in the morning."

Boredom/frustration eating gets me every time. Coco you have faced the challenge and you will move on. No one ever said this was a straight journey.
Yesterday was pretty good for me. 2 good days out of about 14 won't show a loss at the meeting tonight, but I'm heading the right direction anyway.
I'll check back in later and let you all know the gorry details of wi and also re-visit my challenge goals HIHO katie

Mornin' ladies!
I feel like this week has been a "normal" week, is that possible? We had no celebrations, didn't go out to eat a whole lot, I felt good, etc. Hopefully it will reflect at WI tomorrow. Yesterday while the baby was napping I did a quick 20 minute "Boot Camp" workout from the Biggest Loser workout DVD. I would highly recommend this DVD, it gives you 6 different workouts to choose from and you can mix and match them to make your own workout. Anyway, even though it was short I was sweating and I am definitely feeling those lunges today!
My NSV for the day yesterday was that because my DH wasn't home my DS and I ate dinner early (we were done by 6:15) so we could snuggle and watch a movie after dinner. So by 8:30 or so I was feeling hungry. We are out of popcorn, I had already used 4 pts yesterday so I was debating weather or not to use more and have an ice cream treat or something - I have 3-5 points left for the week. But I got inventive, cut up an apple and threw some cinnamon on it and tossed it in the microwave for about a minute and had it with a glass of milk. It was sweet and filling and I certainly didn't go to bed hungry!
Today I'm going to do Day 3 of Week 2 of C25K and start Week 3 this weekend when we are in Vegas - I have my workout clothes and sneakers all packed! This afternoon I have yoga and then we are going to pay a visit to my cousin who is home from the hospital. Looks like he will make a full recovery, he really was given no restrictions and he can go back to work on Monday! Thank goodness. Oh, and some me-time too - I'm getting a manicure this morning!
We leave for Vegas tomorrow but I'll try and do a quick check-in after morning WI.
Kate - good luck at your meeting! I'm glad you're going.
Coco - you will work that off today! Don't be too hard on yourself.
Sul - you're doing awesome - keep it up!
Have a great day ladies- Beth

Morning Vals....
I'm checking in on my goals:
Follow the new snack guidelines - MOSTLY. Again, I had non-Core snacks 3-4 times during the week. Stay within my WPA WITHOUT the use of creative accounting practices. Yes, and I had 9 points left over. Eat only to satisfaction, and practice safe leftover management - into the freezer! I feel I did really well this week with portion control. And I ate up all my freezer leftovers! So I made more - eggplant-polenta marinara, and an Indian-style chicken curry. Use the following phrases as often as needed: "Do I want to eat this, or do I want to get to goal?" "I am not hungry, but I'm going to eat this anyway." I used the first one twice, and it helped.
I was up .4 at WI last night. I consider this a maintain, so I'm not too stressed. BUT.....I'm still nearly 3 pounds up from my lowest weight, which I reached in OCTOBER. I'm tired of this!
I think I need to make a few systematic changes, one at a time, to see if any of them make a difference in my weight loss pattern. I'll post some ideas in the Maintenance Circle - I could use some advice from lifetimers and other close-to-goal people.
Beth, have a great trip. Travel is a special challenge for me, but it sounds like you're ready.
Sulee, WTG on the great loss. Coco & Katie (& me!), HIHO. Ema, hope you're back in your running shoes.

Hi everyone!
Coco, I like your mantra, I mean Cynthia, I like your mantra....I will remember it! ;D Beth - have a wonderful time in Vegas, safe trip! Vita - I like your mantra too. Katie - HIHO
Hey I did check my goals for this challenge a few pages back...I wanted to have Core foods on hand and learn more about maintaining, and I think I'm accomplishing my goals! I lost 1.4 last night and this will continue....I think having lots of stuff prepared in my fridge and freezer is helping a lot.

Hi Everyone! As usual, I'm late to the party...... Just got back from an overseas trip last week. I've been following all your succeses with exercise, especially those of you who are adding running to your schedule. I had been running twice a week, to do some different cardio, but two weeks ago started getting a lot of pain in my right heel, aka plantar fascitis (sp)..... OUCH! So painful. I could barely walk 10 days ago, and when I returned from my trip & ran again, after 20 minutes the pain came back. I was crippled on Sunday. Now it's just a twinge, and I've been able to Spin & use the elliptical , but no running. But I've managed to get back to my 5 days/week exercise challenge (soon I hope to make that 6 days/week). Evening snacking is still difficult for me......

Hi everyone! All of you are doing so well...it is inspiring. I wish I could say the same. I'm still under the weather and under the gun at work because of time lost last week, so it has been ugly. Missed my WI/meeting due to having to work OT. Here's my gut-check: 1. Get back to tracking haven't been as successful this past week or two2. Control portions overall doing okay but have had some lapses with "comfort" foods3. Stick to core foods--more fruits/veggies, whole grains, etc. see #24. Avoid sugar, bread/baked goods, alcohol, etc. again, see #25. Get back to the routine of exercising daily I haven't been exercising daily--I still feel lousy and am exhausted by the time I get home lately6. Use the WW tools to get back on track mentally as well as physically really need to focus on this one especially7. Don't miss my weekly meeting obviously not cutting the mustard here either8. Lose at least 1 lb. per week by following the first 7 goals ?Well, didn't do terribly well this week, but I'm committed to focussing harder on these goals. I KNOW that they are more than doable...I've just got to put my mind and body into it.

HI wonderful peeps! I can see I've got a lot of respondin' to do, so I will get right to it:
Beth: I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin and am sending good thoughts to him. Thanks for reminding me about Fresca! I have to have some right away...hee. My other favorite soda is Shasta Diet Cream. Best diet out there. Yum.
Katie: Good for you for indulging in a fun activity--and one you know will keep your mind off of food! Mine is a video game, which the "You on a Diet" docs actually recommend as a way to keep from boredom eating.
Sulee: RIGHT ON!!!! Keep it up! Woo hoo! 2 pounds is a great number and don't forget it! Cooking--good for you. And loving the fluffy heart. ;D
Ema: Happy birthday to DS #4! And wishing you good choice-making through the party.
***hugs*** Coco! Being mindful and aware is a great change, don't you think? And repeating a mantra is good too. It's a life plan, forgive yourself and move on knowing that you're still on track. We believe in you!
Vita, Yay for maintaining! I agree, that small amt is a glass of water or so. I support you in those changes you're thinking about. Wishing you a good week.
Jonesy: Take care of that heel! Good healing vibes to you. Sit ups don't use your feet. ;D What activity can keep you from wanting evening snacks? I eat a cup of frozen cherries one at a time--takes forever and counts as a fruit! Good luck.
Mikki: there is one way you did well on your week's goals--by reviewing and thinking about them! Make small changes if you can this week and congratulate yourself for being on the path.

Oh and as for me:
I showed a loss of .6 today. Not too bad and after a 7 lb loss last week I expected a bounce back, so I'll take it.
My Goals:
Increase my activity--shoot for 2x a week minimum. So so. Could do more. Consider my food choices carefully--beforehand. Almost always Stay within core/snack/35WPA range. Pretty much Remember--I am blessed. YUP!

Hi everyone! I've been MIA for a while here -- sorry about that! It's been CRAZY since I got back from my meetings . . . DF and I are in full wedding planning mode. We picked a band, and picked a location for the rehearsal dinner. My mother is taking care of sooo much for me (thank goodness!) I don't know what I'd do without her!! Last week I pretty much maintained, so I suppose I can't complain (but, I really want to ) I don't really completely understand it b/c I was very good with my eating. My working out, however, was a totally different story. I didn't get back to the gym to finish week 1 of C25K -- it was far too crazy with work and appointments. I barely got home to see DF let alone to the gym. But, on a positive note, on Sunday, I started week 1 over again and have finished days 1 and 2. I will do day 3 tomorrow and then start week 2 on Sunday. It looks like this week *may* be a loss, but then again, I have eaten HORRIBLY, so I don't deserve it one bit! I've been in meetings again eating what's put in front of me, and then we ate at the restaurant where we're having the rehearasal dinner and tried all kinds of fun food for the menu (YUMMY!) No regrets, but if I'm still on track to lose, then I have no clue how or why! It sounds like everyone is doing well. Beth - I hope your cousin is doing ok. Take care everyone! I'll report on the "officials" for the week this weekend! Barney

Hey all-
I'm down .4 this week and I feel like the scale is moving very slowly but at least it's going in the right direction. I hit my lowest weight on Nov. 17 and I still have a pound to go to get back to that. We leave for Vegas this afternoon and my plan is definitely to workout and I also am bringing apples, cereal, oatmeal and WW bars with me as to not go into mealtime starving and to have an OP breakfast. I think many of my WPAs will be used on alcohol!
Here's a recap of my goals:
-lose 1 pound a week to get to goal (well, that was originally when I had to lose 6 pounds in 6 weeks and because I had a gain in there that's not happening! I still have 6 pounds to go to get to goal) -following the new Core snacking guidelines (I've been experimenting with this a bit, especially on days with big workouts like spinning I've been having a heartier snack with a protein. I felt much less hungry this week by doing that.) -writing down WPAs (YES - did this faithfully this week) -trying a new recipe each week (we were a little off track this week because of my cousin in the hospital and us watching the baby. I did make sloppy joe's with ground turkey but all I did was add seasoning so I don't know if I'd call that a recipe!)
Tomorrow starts Week 3 of C25K - Barney I'm glad you started it too!
Hope everyone has a good weekend and your injuries feel better.
Viva Las Vegas!!
-Beth

Hi everyone,
Sorry I have been MIA for a while here but between the funeral, the flu and being completely exhausted I have a long list of excuses. I think I pretty much maintained (up a pound) and am feeling more like I can refocus back onto myself.
Report on my original goals: 240 minutes of exercise a week: I haven't quite been hitting the total minutes but am close in the last two weeks. No sugar, no snacking, and no seconds: I haven't been doing that at all but am aiming to do at least two out of three today (did have seconds on the bread at lunch).
Secret wish: I have so many wonderful events this year. I would just love to be at goal for all of them. Ski trips, Hawaii, a 25 mile bike ride for diabetes, a personal growth workshop, 40th birthday..... I so very much want to get there and just stay there for the year so I can enjoy my body, great clothes and look darn good for all those photos. This is my wish....
I feel like I have been treading water for so long. I guess treading water is defined at maintaining at a higher than goal weight. And I know it is better than gaining...but I am tired of being 10 lbs over goal. I want to get back there but something always seems to stop me.
