I have lost about 20 pounds on core. I love the program! My husband wanted to try another well known program that focuses on a 1500 per day calorie intake. So, to be the supportive wife, I said i will try this one with you! I have been on this plan for 3 full weeks, eating 1500 calories or less per day. I lost 4.6 first wk, 1 second week and gained .6 the 3rd week! I follow this program to the "T" and the only explanation they have for me is the sodium and more excercise! I am hungary all the time and never feel satisfied, can't eat out at all and very frustrated. I know 5 pounds of is nothing to turn my nose up at, but, I lost more consistently on core, felt satisfied, cooked at home and ate out! I have commited to 6 weeks of this and then will be running back to core! I told them this up front. My question is, why is this not working, I eat a lot more on core and lose. Has my metabolism shut down? If anyone out there has any advice for me please give me your feeling on this. I will appreciate any input.

Just MHO --
I don't know what program you're on but I hope it's healthy food you're eating. Sure, your metabolism could be shutting down, if you are hungry all the time, like stomach-growling hungry, your body may not be getting enough nutrients. That must be horrible. Any other bad feelings -- lightheadedness, nausea, tiredness? Is your husband having any of the same reactions as you?
Again, I don't know what plan you're on or what it cost but it doesn't seem worth it to continue, and I wouldn't continue for long if any of your reactions get worse. If your DH likes it he should continue this plan on his own. Again I don't know your situation, or if there's a cost factor involved for you. I think your own words below say it all!

Thanks so much for your reply. Yes, the food is nutritious, just not enough! I add my own fresh fruits, veggies an yogurt/dairy. I am not trying to be so negative about the program I am trying it just doesn't seem to be working for me. And yes it is working much better for my husband. But he is always hungary too! This is a pre-packaged planned menu, no cooking, all micro-waved meals. It costs about $100 per week in food, for each of us. I must sound crazy for doing this type of program. I will be going back to core sooner than later. Hubby will just have to go it alone. Thanks again!

Again, just my humble opinion...and I don't work for WW but I certainly feel it is the best weight loss program out there... ;D... but I have question - what will happen when you no longer buy the food for this program, when your husband loses the weight he wants? Usually....people gain all the weight back because they are not used to cooking their own meals and measuring out portions for themselves. Also sounds like this plan does not teach you how to stay in the hunger comfort zone. Good for you adding your own fruits and yogurt! Good luck and I hope you come back to WW soon!

If you're restricted to prepackaged meals, that's a ton of sodium and preservatives going into your bodies. Plus, I'll bet that they try to give you lots of "treat" foods that are not core, so end up being much smaller portions for each serving.
I hope your husband made the same deal to try core when you're done with this one! If it's about convenience, perhaps you two could make meals together ahead of time and freeze portions. Voila--healthier, more fufilling pre-packaged meals!

Thanks so much for the replies. You sure are right about the high sodium in their foods! They tried to tell me I had a gain one week because I made my own soup. It was made with low sodium broth & fresh veggies! I don't think so! Yes, there are treats, chocolate cake, lemon cake, brownies, etc.... therefore, actual food portions are really small. As for DH, he will be doing core with me! Well, off to the gym. Love the support! ;D

Good for you for being supportive, that is an important example to set, but from your posts it sounds like you already know the answer to your own questions. Not every plan is right for everybody, and you have the experience with Core to know that it works for you. Possibly adding your own fruits and veggies and dairy is putting you over their 1500 calorie limit. As mentioned by Girlie and Night also the sodium. I believe that any program that limits you to only "their" food is not as good as WW because you can never become independent of that program and learn to eat in the real world. Hang on and get through this trial period and all will be well. Take Care Katie

I would think doing Core would be a lot less expensive than pre-packaged ick. What about setting aside a few hours each week to make your own "frozen meals?" I often prepare recipes and divide the portions among those plastic storage containers. You could easily create your own much BETTER, much MORE HEALTHFUL and cheaper meals, just like nightsinge said. Good luck to you.
