Hi --
I just started this but I have BIG cravings for sugar and white stuff... which is one of the main reasons I am trying core. How long until some of these cravings start to subside?!?!? Help!

Kristin, The decrease in cravings will happen. The timeline is different for everyone, and much depends on how carefully you're able to stick to Core through this tough initial period. It also depends on how much processed food you were eating before Core.
Hang in there. You'll probably be feeling much better in about a week (maybe sooner, maybe more like 10 days). Some things that help: drinking lots of water, getting some activity, keeping busy (keep your mind and hands busy to resist old snacking habits), make some good soup with lots of veggies (the extra nutrients will help your body handle the transition), get extra sleep if you can, and have some Tylenol handy in case you get sugar detox headaches. Each day it gets easier and one day you'll be marvelling at how great, vital, energetic, and positive you feel.

Ditto what HippoMommy said. It helped me to remember that a "craving" meant that my body was looking for nutrition - either energy or a nutrient needed to process energy - so I chose nutritious foods to eat. The 8 Good Health guidelines are a super-easy way to keep track of balanced nutrition.

For me it took about 3 weeks and I noticed a big change in my energy levels at that point. I used to experience the "afternoon slump" at around 3:00pm where I just ran out of energy and felt like I needed a nap. I haven't felt that since then and I've been on core for over a year! (Finally lost that last pound! woohoo!)

I find that when I eat something salty, I start craving sweets, and when I eat sweets I start craving something salty. Therefore, lowering my salt intake lessens my cravings for sweets.
Maybe that will help you, too.
