Found a Core soup that is absolutely fabulous! The brand is Moosewood, and the flavor is Organic Hearty Mushroom Barley Soup. Incredible flavor, and all organic. Found refrigerated in an orange container that looks like a quart of ice cream - the round cardboard containers with a lid. "Flavorful shiitake & crimini mushrooms simmered with fresh vegetables, barley and rosemary." mmmm I'm not sure how much they usually cost, as I found these on markdown for $1. There's a tomato & wild rice one that I picked up as well, and will probably try it for lunch tomorrow. Website: www.moosewoodrestaurant.com/soups.html#

I love mushroom barley soup, that sounds great! Do you know if its vegetarian - no beef stock / chicken broth etc?

I think these originate from the Moosewood Restaurant in Ithaca, NY . I have two cookbooks from Molly Katzen who worked at the Moosewood, the recipes are awesome! And vegetarian. "The Moosewood Cookbook" and "The Enchanted Broccoli Forest", both have great recipes.

Yes, Jonesy - the food line does come from the restaurant in NY. The Moosewood cookbook is now at the top of my list for next cookbook purchase.

I just bought some new core soups too by Health Valley. They are fat free, organic and have "40% less sodium than other leading brands".
Downside = $3+/can, but I plan to keep them on hand for emergencies when I don't have time to cook and don't have leftovers on hand.
I bought vegetarian ones (Super Broccoli and 5 bean vegetable), but they have non-veg ones too.
