Pookie, I'll handle this one.
As you mentioned blinkies in your post, I'll use one as an example.
1) Choose the image you want to post. This image will have to be saved to your desktop.
Example:
www.simplyjill.com/graphics/index.htmHalfway down the page, she has a section labeled "Blinkies". Click on the animals. In the nex to last row, she has one that says "Have you HUGGED your dog today?" We'll use that one as the example image.
To save the image to your desktop, right click over the image. You'll see a list of options. Left click on the "Save Image As" option. A box will pop up to help you choose the location to save the image. Make sure you choose someplace where you'll be able to find it again. Also, be sure to rename the image something that tells you what the image is. The image name
cannot have any spaces in it. Finally, click the save button. The image has been saved to your desktop.
2) Upload the image to a image hosting site.
Almost all image hosting sites handle the upload process the same way. I'm going to use 2and2 as the example site for this time through.
www.2and2.net/index.php?i=uploadYou don't need to fill in your name or the file description. First, click the "Browse" button to the right of the "Upload File" box. A window similar to the one you saw when you saved the file will appear. Find the file on your computer, click on the file name, and then click the "Open" button. The "Upload File" box will now have the file location filled in. Now, click on the "Make Private?" box. This saves you from posting your name and the file description on the internet. Everyone will still be able to see the image, but they don't have to know who posted it on the 2and2 site.
Finally, click the "Upload" button. A new page will appear with image path listed. Highlight this entire URL (from the "http://" to after the file extension (ie ".gif")). To highlight, left click at one end of the URL and drag your mouse while still holding down the button to the other end of the URL. The entire URL should be shaded. Now that it's highlighted, you need to copy that bit of text. There's a couple ways to do this. One way is to hold down the "Ctrl" key and the "C" key on the keyboard at the same time (Ctrl + C). Another way is to right click
over the highlighted area. In the box that pops up, "Copy" is an option. Left click on that option. The text is now copied.
3) Now you're ready to post the image onto this Web site. First, go to where you want the image posted -- in a reply box, in your signature...wherever.
Next, you need to paste the text into the appropriate box. Again, you can do this a couple of ways. You can either hit the "Ctrl" key and the "V" key at the same time (Ctrl + V), or you can right click over the box and then left click on "Paste." Either way, the text will now appear in the box.
www.2and2.net/Priv/JHuggedUrDogBlinkie.gifThen you want to highlight the text again. So, left click and drag your mouse over the entire URL again.
Finally, you click the image button. In the second row of grey boxes above the reply window (you'll see a
B, an
I, a
U, etc. in the first row), you'll see a framed picture. Click on this while the image file path is highlighted. You'll get this (minus the spaces):
[ img]http://www.2and2.net/Priv/JHuggedUrDogBlinkie.gif
And then, when you hit "Post Reply" or "Save," you'll have this posted:
Alternatively, you can just put [ img] in front of the image and at the end, removing the spaces from the tags.
