Just wondering.......is there a list of what all the tags represent? I know bold, italic, underline, bullets and few others, but what do the rest do? Green circle with G in center, D, M with arrow, some in the bottom row? Also, is there a specific place to test this or just pick under blinkies, signature or ?
Thanks!

you can test all you like by using the preview button instead of the post button. It will show you what your post will look like without ever actually posting, and you can preview the same message over and over. if you want to see what the "tags" are and what they do, just try them out or look in the "colors, fonts, etc." thread. [glow=red,2,300]this is the green G[/glow] [glow=red,2,300]this is the color pink plus the green G[/glow][shadow=red,left,300]
this is color orange with the shadowy D and font size increased from 2 to 6
[/shadow]there are so mant combos you just try whatever you feel ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Re: Nesting code « Reply #8 on: Jan 9th, 2005, 4:26pm » <br>Josh -- Click on the Bold button. You'll get this (minus the spaces:
[ b]TEXT[/b ]
Erase where it says TEXT between the two bracketed "B"s and keep your cursor there. Now choose your color (from the drop-down menu that says "Colors") with your cursor inside the bracketed "B"s.
You'll get this (minus the spaces):
[ b][ color=Orange]TEXT[/color ][/b ]
Erase where it says TEXT between the bracketed "color"s and the bracketed "b"s. Keep your cursor there, and click on the Move button ( <--M).
You'll get this (minus the spaces):
[ b][ color=Orange][ move]TEXT[/move ][/color ][/b ]
Erase the word TEXT and type in your own words there (like you did before).
Then you'll get this!
Ok, Pookie, I'm trying to figure this out and am sorry for being so dense! In the instructions above that you replied to Josh, how do I keep my cursor inside the bracketed "B" and choose the color at the same time?

you just leave it there and click on a color. You may be over-thinking this, just fool around with it and you'll get it ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Sherry -- Where the drop down with the "Colors" is, you just select your color from there. It automatically changes the color in the box. You can also just type in the color if you know it's there -- like green, pink, red, black, blue...

HI Akansan,
I'm usually not so dense, but I am having trouble adding more than one thing at a time. If I first select a color, I get (color =Blue)TEXT(/color). If I remove Text and then click on a different option such as the moving M, it goes on the end of the color option. (color=Blue)(/color)(move)TEXT(/move) If I again remove TEXT and type my message, I get this:

I'm not as good at explaining things, but Rhonda isn't here right now so here goes! click on the color red and you will see this: (color=Red]TEXT[/color) now put your cursor at the end of the word TEXT and hit your backspace key 4 times. you will have this: (color=Red][/color) now pretend the exclamation point is your cursor and it should look like this: (color=Red]![/color) now go click on the <--M button and you will get this: (color=Red](move]TEXT[/move)[/color) remove the word TEXT again and you get this (cursor is the ! ) (color=Red](move]![/move)[/color) now click on the B (for bold) and you will get this: (color=Red](move](b]TEXT[/b)[/move)[/color) now remove the word TEXT and type in you own message: I hope I helped a little! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Hi Pookie,
I think I must have a puter or a brain glitch or something. Ok, here goes. I'm going for blue, moving.
This is supposed to be blue and move across screen
TEXT
Now, I did just what you said. Put cursor at the end of the word Text, hit backspace key 4 times. The cursor was sitting there blinking happily away. Next, I take my mouse and click on the <--M button and you can see above what happens. The next set Text gets stuck on the right instead of the center. Why won't it go in the space where Text was?
I'm heading out for dinner with DH and will check back later. Thanks so much for your help!
Happy Valentine's Day!

HMMMM, do you have a Mac? Do you have some sort of fancy mouse? Maybe you need the ctrl alt directions--I don't know those so maybe ak will be along to help soon!

OK, butting in here. You just need to move things around a bit. I have the same issue with the code ending up at the end, regardless of where I put the cursor.
There is a SUPER easy fix to this (although it would be easier if it just worked right for me, and your).
Example time. Bear with me.
So you want something to look like this: [ color=Red ]![/color ][/b ] minus the spaces, pretending ! is the cursor.
But what you get is this. TEXT Because your not-so-user-friendly computer isn't following your cursor instructions.
All you do is first lay down your field.
Then hit the "red" button to get your color code, and highlight the TEXT part, (by clicking at the end of it, holding the mouse button down and dragging it until the highlighted area covers the whole TEXT line.
Then release the mouse button. At this point, the text should remain highlighted. Move the pointer to on top of the highlighted text. Click and hold your button and drag the text over to the middle of the field. Voila! You end up with a final product of TEXT. Erase the "text", replace it with your words, and you're good to go!
I hope that helps, and I went as basic as I could - not because I assume you're dense, but simply because I don't know what your level of computer expertise is. Feel free to ask more questions if you need help!

I think I got it!
Thank you soooooooooo much Slimcris and also Pookie and Rhonda. It wasn't me and my ineptness after all - just my "not-so-user-friendly computer" that was not following my instructions. I was about ready to call the eye doctor - thought I couldn't see well enough to read anymore. I'm usually good at following instructions.
My puter wouldn't let me highlight and drag, either - I have to cut and paste. The tricky part (until I get more used to the procedure) is to remember where exactly to paste.
Next question: Is there a way to make the computer more friendly, like settings, etc? I'm still running Windows ME. Just bought an lcd monitor recently and had some problems with that also because the computer is lacking memory card and according to the repair shop - no place to put one, either. I suppose I'll have to think of upgrading somewhere down the line.
Anyway, thanks much!

Sherry, I haven't figured out a way to make it work yet, although I admittedly I haven't really tried. I too am running Windows ME - so maybe that's our problem ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

I can't think of a setting on the computer that would fix that issue. I'd never heard of it, but I've also never run ME. Sounds like that's the culprit if the two people having the same issue are running the same version.
Unless you also happen to have the exact same computer? Strange...
I'm just glad you figured out a way to get around the issue!

Actually Sherry and Slim, it probably is Win Me. It was not one of Gates' better efforts. It was a stopgap measure to start to align Win 95 series computers with Win NT. It was Win 2000 on the NT side and Win Me on the 95 side. It was supposed to make the interface and actions compatible. Win Me failed miserably.
I bought a laptop with Me on it and switched to Win 2K within a month because Me was so bad.
