I have plantar fascia-tis and have now for over a year. I am seeing a podiatrist, but he is giving me inserts and naproxen. I would like to know if anyone knows the exercises to strengthen the fascia. I know runners get this and they have to have something that they do to get back into running? TIA

Terri, if the inserts are working, you should be able to run without pain. How do you feel with the inserts in? I'm asking because I've been through this. I eventually had surgery (laser) because no other procedure helped at all. I still wear inserts, but there is no pain as long as I wear them. Monica

The inserts feel better than without, but if I go for a jog or even fast walking, it is bad again. I have been wondering if surgury would help, but feared that it would just make things worse. Maybe it will come to that though.

Are you doing any stretches? Has your Dr. tried iontophoresis (small electrodes that use very light electrical impulses to drive anti-inflammatory medication into the tissue)?
