Is there anyone out there doing this race? I just signed up and will walk/jog it. Staying in Nashville, can't wait. Just looking for a buddy to chat with about this.

Kealster, I'm not doing that race, but am doing a marathon in San Diego in June. If you ever want to share training stories, tips, or whatever, let me know! Good luck! Have you started training yet? When is the race?
Cheers! Sarah

I just started CORE! I have been doing flex for about 3 weeks-3 weeks ago I did the Little Rock Marathon! In fact I GAINED weight since September training for the Dallas White Rock then, the Little Rock. Long story short-- I was GLAD when it was over--- to concentrate on weight loss. Little did I know -- my running partner had her sights set on Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon -- April 24! I doing a 20 miler Wednesday morning-- I am a little apprehensive about trying to "carb load" and keep a balance between fueling and "overdoing " the fuel . I did 7 miles this am-- I really felt a "drag" down on my energy. Anyone with advice on fueling for long runs? Congrats to all of you who have committed to halfs-- I am doing the Texas Half in Dallas on Sunday!!

I'm not a runner, but I just had to chime in that I saw a great story on the TV news about the Governor of AK and the Little Rock Marathon. He'd lost quite a bit of weight quite publicly during his term and taken up running. He ran with a Governor of another state (from the opposite party) who supported him and was a much more experienced runner. It was quite impressive.
I'm in awe of anyone who runs even a mile without stopping. I can't imagine ever being able to do it.
But it took a long time to imagine I could lose my weight, so you just never know about the running. . . .

Right now I'm more concerned with fueling for my runs that losing weight. It is a fine line to walk, but listen to your body. If you're hungry, eat. If you want carbs, eat them (good ones, please! ) If you want protein, eat it. On Core, you can eat when you are hungry. If you are not eating enough to maintain your levels of activity, there is a good chance you will quit losing and maintain for a while. I've been working hard to find that spot that I am getting in enough food but still losing. It's about 32 points a day (I am tracking points right now, with the focus on Core type foods). I am able to keep up my energy and keep losing. yes, it sounds like a lot, but it's working for me. You'll just have to keep experimenting with it, just don't starve yourself when running so many miles! I'm having some muscle issues in my left leg, lots of soreness in my adductor. It concerns me to be feeling pain with only 8 weeks to the race, but I'm sure it will iron itself out!
