After 10 or 15 mins into my running my right shoulder gets really tight and hurts so bad. I try stretching out before, stopping and doing more stretching, shrugging my shoulders and dropping them to relax but nothing seems to help.
It's not in my shoulder joint, it's the muscle that runs along the top of my shoulder up to my neck. It's never the other side!
It's such a nuisance and keeps doing it. Any ideas? TIA!

I think you meant for this to be in the exercise forum, so I'll move it for you!

I don't know what would cause this, but my advice would be to see a doctor, since it seems to be a chronic problem. I would just play it safe by getting a professional's opinion.

I get this too. I've been told that it has to do with your posture while you run and also how you swing your arms. Look at your form while you run. I realized that I was really leaning forward while I ran and swinging my arms a little oddly. When I stand a little more straight (not completely- I don't think you can run like that) I'm more aligned and don't get the problem as much.
I also started stretching out my neck and shoulders before I run and that helped.

I have had this too! I diagnosed myself with a rotator cuff/bursitis thing. Stretching is good but, if you could incorporate a yoga pose called a right angle warrior-- your arm goes over your ear and you get a great stretch from the pose!
