Hello my name is Mightycore and I am powerless over protein bars Just kidding, sort of, but I gotta watch those and these other nutritionals. I need to concentrate on real food and only use the nutritionals (other than the supplements) occasionally. I wanted to bag the WW brand because I am avoiding fake sweeteners and wanted more nutritional punch. I got introduced to one brand which I bought and really like, and then I started looking at all these websites comparing the organic undenatured whey protein of this to the non-gmo that of the other thing, and then I checked out the greensplus site because of those energy bars and now my head is spinning and DH says I'm getting boring. Oh no!!! I suppose if I were intrinsically balanced in the food arena I wouldn't be here in the first place On the "spinning" note I finally went to a class last night and got my butt kicked. Today my back is really out of whack, so a visit to the chiro is in order. I bought a couple of new, heavier kbells (I found them cheap at a local store) and I'm excited to use them. Yesterday's food: Smoothie, bar (4), salad, o/v, leftover salmon, brown rice crab roll, pizza&icecream (30), spinning (6 aps) Plan today: smoothie, I had a bar (4) on the way to the chiros!! I think I need to eat buff up my breakfasts to quell the mid-morning hungries, chiropractor, lunch really good salad, the rest of the leftover salmon, broccoli, kbells (4 aps), dinner TBA-Core DD and I went to Souplantation and all was good, all was core...UNTIL the frozen yogurt (lowfat) and the itty bitty blueberry muffin and the little chocolate muffin and the pineapple upside down cake and the cookie (18) DOH!Balance is a daily exercise. Onward.

I think I've solved my mid-morning hungries conundrum: eat just a little bit of something first thing, and have my real breakfast mid-morning. No matter how much I eat for breakfast if it's first thing, I get hungry a few hours later. But, I'm not very hungry when I first wake up. It worked today (though I did get to sleep in till 8:40!!!!) Today: 6 almonds & 2 little wafer-snacky things (3 pts altogether I think), kbells (4 aps), smoothie, some chicken kebab, salad w/ leftover chicken (dressing 2), D: TBA

Hi Karen,
Laughed WITH and not AT you re: 'powerless over protein bars'. That's me with any frozen confection in a container, not on a stick!
Brilliant idea about a little something first thing and then a real breakfast later. I run/walk early during the week and not so early on the weekends and usually don't eat till I get back and MAN am I crabby and starving. So maybe just a little fruit with my coffee would be the answer. Thanks!
I just bought some green powder myself, at the recommendation of an ayurvedic practitioner. About to give it a try tomorrow. Do you feel more robust, using it?

Let me add, please, that I am also powerless over sugar. That monster is forever lurking in the shadows and DANG!! don't you know it bit me again . The past two days have been so off the CORE map I may as well be in another solar system. And I feel physically terrible !!! I have figured out that when I am at the hospital I crave carbs, and once I cave and have that first bite, it's all over. I worked 2 long days in a row at the hosp, which is not usual for me, and I ate my way through it. To the contrary, when I'm in my clinic setting (also 2 days a week), I don't have such cravings at all. The moral of the story: Lifetime does not neutralize the sugar monster! (not for me anyway!) Back in the saddle today. I've got to have a plan, lest my little hula dancer wiggles back to the left!!

Yah, and not long after I wrote that yesterday I devoured half a bag of TJ's chocolate covered pretzels. (I wish they had been the peanut butter/chocolate ones . ) Well, today was a new day. I had no sugar at all. I don't like being back in this place where that's a big deal but, alas, here I am.

Good for you for keeping on, Karen, even when thwarted by chocolate covered pretzels -- a fave of mine since childhood! Someone once gave me a Sam's Club sized container... literally like 5 pounds... of the peanut butter fulled pretzels. I finally had to give them away-- talk about powerless over an inanimate object!
Thanks for the scoop (a little green powder inside joke!) about Super Greens, I felt really pleased that I had the connoisseur's favorite. I will try the berry version next time.
Have a great day1!

Day three no sugar!!! I think I am past the withdrawal phase, and feel more confident today. I had a kick-butt spinning class last night, slept well, and now DH and I are off on a date to the chiropractors (so romantic). I'll work a kbell workout in later, just so I can throw my back out again, and I need to work overnight--at the hospital aka "house of carbs." I'll have a plan and a bag load of acceptable foods before I walk in those doors at 8pm.

Yes! Score! First off, I was busy till 4am and that's when I was finally able to eat my delicious veggie burger on ezekiel sesame toast (points) with salad and a bunch of water. I had no sugar and no simple carbs. I am back in the game, my friends. I took my first belly dancing class yesterday. That was fun fun fun, and I did a quick powerful kbell workout before going to work. I slept like a baby all day, and I'm more sore this evening than expected. Off tomorrow, so good food choices and lots of exercise planned.

Here's what I'm using my points on these days: almonds sprouted grain bread/tortillas chocolate green energy bars my favorite bars ever hulled hemp seeds and sesame seeds I've been really good at the hospital the last two times I've been, bringing VIRTUOUS stuff and not sniffing out the EVIL stuff. Today there I wrenched my back trying to catch a phone with my foot before it fell on the floor (the phone's fine ). To the chiropractor tomorrow because I do plan on taking another belly dancing class tomorrow.

Hope your back is feeling better.
What kind of energy bars and how many points? Do you eat them before or after you workout?

i just LOVE how you are using your points for such lovely healthy fare like almonds and seriously real bread, versus twinkies and hohos...not that there's anything wrong with that either!
Heading to NY tomorrow where there's a trader joe handy and will check out those green choco power bars. Thanks for the 411 on those.
You are doing great!
