Thank you Kate and Wildflower. It's good to be back. I missed you! ;D
I think I did well with the move. Certainly I was more active than I've been in a long time. And I was almost completely core. We went out to Thai food one night and I had some ginger tofu. I'm certain that it wasn't core but I think I earned it.
Today at WI I was happy to find that I'd lost 3.6 lbs. Yay!
I am looking forward to getting my life out of boxes and more organized--and also keeping better track of what I eat. Even without the flex plan, it's good for me to kind of eyeball it a little. It's so easy to pop things into my mouth and forget I ever did--chips disappear especially easily that way.
today I had:
Cream of Wheat with strawberries FF latte salad with lettuce, olives, artichokes, tomatoes, and ff shredded cheese hard boiled egg ff popcorn mushroom Boca-- Boca patty with sautéed mushrooms cup of steamed broccoli with lemon and butter spray

3.6 pounds, wow!! I always unpack asap, completely, or , two years later, you'll still find one or two boxes that you didn't get to. The last move, the biggest I have ever done, but with professionals doing all of the carrying, was the best. They brought it up, and I got 3/4 unpacked before they were gone. I worked like a maniac, but it went really well. In the past I had just had it all sit and wait.

pack lots of core food! YOu'll do fine. If you have to go out to eat just ask for no extra oil or butter on the core foods

Thanks for the cheer, Kasha. I have so much going on (and this old apartment has lots of "quirks" that we have to work on) so I won't be able to unpack all at once. But you're right about finding stuff years later! Gingerjenny, that's exactly what I did. Luckily, we were only moving upstairs (to a deelux apartment in the skyyyyyy) so I had ff cheese, veggies and fruit in both refridgerators. Just like when I have to go to Seattle, those staples get me through being away from home. Just looking forward to more variety as we head into spring and summer.

Had a bit of a bad night last night. I ate dinner early and proudly avoided all snacks, even when DP chowed down on chips and crap.
Then I got SO low in the middle of the night, I was shaking. I had an apple, an orange and a can of pineapple before I felt better. It seems like I ate too much and have a hard time not eating a lot of fruit when I'm low. Still, I USED to eat peanut butter, cookies and candy. I'm so glad I found a healthful way to fight the glucose drops.
After all the moving activity, I've slowed way down. even though it's cold and blustery today, I'm going to make myself go for a walk. I'm not ready to become a professional mover, but I do miss the activity. Now THAT's a new experience.
Food So Far:
1 serving of grits with butter spray Boca patty slice of ff cheese Salad
few pieces of fresh pineapple (yum)!
an apple
1 cup ff refried beans w/ ff cheese
Salad
...
Loved looking in my basket at Co-op today and seeing all the fresh and frozen veggies, tofu and fruit. I remember hiding things in my basket because I was embarrassed about them. *sigh*

A few different things triggered my decision to join WW.
- Watching Celebrity Fit club and wishing I had to weight in each week and was accountable to someone
- Certain bulges in certain places
- Even my "loose" pants were becoming uncomfortably tight
One of my favorite NSVs so far is wearing those formerly-tight pants...and feeling HOW loose they are--even when they've just been washed! I keep wearing the same pants over and over cause it makes me soooo happy.
Today so far:
2 pieces of pan fried tofu 1 banana
1/2 cup ff refried beans w/ hot sauce & scoop ff plain yogurt big handfull of baby carrots
1 bag ff popcorn
Boca patty 1 slice ff cheese
pkg of frozen spinach w/lemon and butter spray 1 cup yogurt with sf ff pudding mix

My leader only does core occasionally, but she is the type of person who likes to know what she is talking about so she is pretty well educated about core. Most of the questions were directed to me and 2 other gals on Core. We have a pretty good representation of core in our small group. I would say there are 6 or so of us. I was the only Core person for a long time then as I kept talking about it and as people saw my pretty rapid weight loss, more and more tried it. My leader frequently looks to me to share my Core experiences, which I am more than happy to do. You are doing a terriffic job. 18lbs lost!!! Congratulations.

Morning, Night!
I just want to tell you how impressed I am at the way you have taken charge of your eating, making great decisions and showing amazing progress. It's so great that you have joined this board and become such a warm, supportive and regular poster/responder.
Congrats on the loose pants. I'm not there yet but I'm not buying anything new till those old things slide on!
You asked a while ago about the monks. Just being with them was a spiritual experience for me. I understood nothing that they said language-wise, but I understood everything. They had a translator who wasn't a professional, so she was only able to bring across about 1/2 of what the Rinpoche (the high priest) said. But one thing that i did get was this: "Be good. If you are not being good, you can start being good right now." Hey, what about that. Here's this totally virtuous man saying...ok, if you weren't good that's ok, you can fix it by just fixing it. I felt so soothed by that (being a big self flagellator about every past slip, blip and mistake). It really resonates for me with this weight loss process. ok so i learned to like eating too much...portion-wise, crap-wise, brat-wise: i'm-gonna-eat-cuz-i-wanna-wise. so now i can learn to like eating less. The monks eat for $20 a MONTH. I probably spend that much on lattes every WEEK. Perspective is everything.
Anyway...Keep up the good work, night. It's nice to get to know you a little!

So I'm looking at those numbers on my little ticker and musing that I've reversed the "53" to a "35." When I feel I'm not doing well, that's something to think about. When I first showed up on the core-ner I didn't want to post those numbers AT ALL. Now I'm glad that I have for my own encouragement. Who knows? Maybe some guest looks at my ticker and sees that they aren't alone with how much they have to lose.
Mostly I haven't done any dedicated exercising. I say that because I've been steadily active, unpacking and volunteering at the food bank. But it feels different when I work up a sweat.
I'm under points, but still feeling that I've eaten a lot this week. Not sure why that is.
Tracking my food just don't have time to write it all down here. Same old same old, Bocas and salads and apples, oh my. Tonight I'm going to the Keg to celebrate a friend's graduation. Steak was one of the hard things for me to give up being a veg so it will be a double challenge: not want meat and not want a big, BUTTERY potato. Wish me luck!

I see exactly what you mean about washing a pair of jeans, then drying them on hot, then putting them on and they are loose--a great feeling!
253 to 235 is fantastic and I'm certian there are other people out there being thrilled that if you can do it, so can they.
They way I figure it, it didn't go on fast, it isn't coming off fast, even slower than it went on, it is all about not gaining, and watching the scales just creep down there. I tried this philosophy out on my work dr last Monday. He told me that that was it right on the head. First thing, stop the extra kilos from going on. So he is satisfied with people coming in every year and weighing the same because it means not gaining. Then , if they edge down, great. Above all, he said, in French, mind you, all of this was, slowly. Which always makes me feel happy, as it certainly isn't fast for me. And not for most of us, I think.

Heh. Hi Mrs. Nosey. Peek in anytime! You're right, Kasha. I keep telling myself that they didn't come on overnight either. When I do really well, I want immediate results. The thing is, I HAVE immediate results--just small ones. Like pants. I'm learning to notice and praise myself for those instead of focusing on the "bigger" goal.

I did quite well at the Keg! I had a house salad with oil and vinegar on the side, a plain potato (!) and a side of steamed asparagus.
Not one piece of bread.
Not one bite of the fabulous coffee ice cream cake dessert.
So there.
Oddly enough, I didn't finish any of it. I left salad, a third of the potato and over half of the asparagus. Why then did I feel SO full after? I remember when I was a meat eater having the whole damn thing PLUS a honking big steak. Wow.
I was hoping to distract everyone with my sparkling personality so they wouldn't notice. As a vegetarian they expect me to just order sides anyway. Still, my VERY observant friend noticed (and asked) why my potato was plain. Later he said, "you have hardly eaten anything!" Damn nosey gay boys. *sigh*
Today I've had 1 cup of grapes. 1 C. Oatmeal soon.... and WATERWATERWATERWATERWATER! *giggle*
+
1/2 C ff milk 1 small apple 1 cup asparagus 1 bag ff popcorn
Dinner:
1/2 block tofu marinated in soy and a little peanut oil (WPA) 1/2 C brown rice onion, mushrooms, red pepper all stir fried together
Added about 4 WPA just for the extra oil
