I bet you can find enough to do in Seattle that temptation won't be a problem. I've never been there but always wanted to go.

I travel alot with my current job and core is hard on the road. A good rule of thumb -- if you're think you're hungry, drink something first. Try to resist eating at first. If you're really hungry, you'll still be hungry.
So much of mindless eating on the road is from stress and dehydration. You'd be surprised how much drinking something will help with the sensation of needing to eat.
Good luck! Simps

Welcome back, Night.
I hope your Seattle trip went well! I understand the concerns about maintaining when you leave your routines. But going to Seattle sure sounds like a blast to me! I'm heading for NYC in a few days and there's LOTS OF tempting food. But I walk everywhere so i usually stay even when i go... if i try and not eat absolutely EVERYTHING that appeals to me!
anyway, just wanted you to know i was thinking about you and your school trip.

Good Morning Nightsinge! Hope your weekend went well. Did you have any of that famous Seattle fish? I love Seattle, used to take a weekend visit on the train from Portland--way back in the dark ages when I was in college.
Have a great CORE week!
Ooops! I just remembered that you are vegetarian. Well, I'm sure you found lots of great fruits & veggies in Seattle! And hopefully a good time!

Thank you everyone for coming by and giving me such great support. I luv you guys. I did really, really well in Seattle! One of our classes had a potluck. With people driving for hours to get there of course that meant an entire table filled with last-minute, store-bought cakes, cupcakes, and cookies. ...I wasn't even tempted. ;D I had packed a whole lot of snap peas, grape tomatoes, baby carrots and ff cheese slices. I munched and munched on those instead. Oh, and Extra sf gum has a new flavor--apple. It's hella yummy and is a great substitute for food. I've realized that I use food in a eight-hour class for boredom AND to keep me awake sometimes. Gum works well, as long as I don't pop it in class. ;D Saturday at lunch a bunch of us went to have pho together. I got pho chay (vegetarian) and asked for half noodles. Dunno how many points those rice noodles are, but I only ate a few chopsticks-full and was completely satisfied. Wildflower, I do miss fish and often say that if I lapse, it will be for fish. Sushi is hard to give up. I do want to try to go a full year with no meat, so we'll see. Isn't that train ride lovely? I used to go to Portland when my mom lived there. I love Amtrack! Simpson, thank you for the tip about water. I'm trying but I feel like I'm floating away half the time. You're right about dehydration on the road though. Sulee, NY? How cool! I have always wanted to go. I can't wait to hear about it.

A new week, so back to journaling for me.
This weekend was great as I said. However, DP and I went to Mexican food when I returned to celebrate the end of another hard quarter. I asked for a side of whole beans with my salad and they brought me refried. I just ate them and counted the pts when I got home.
And I also ate a side of guacamole. I was so proud of myself for eating something core and not touching a single chip...then got home and discovered that guacamole is NOT core? Whatwhatwhat? Why? So I counted the pts for that too.
Seems like those WPAs do come in handy--less for giving myself treats and more for when I mess up on core by accident. Well, I'm only on week four and still learning...
My non scale or non weigh victory is that I received the highest praise on my policy analysis paper. Basically, my professor said that every so often a student writes a paper that is so in-depth and well written that she has nothing to say about it. So yay, me and nyah to those inner demons who whispered that I couldn't do the assignment. Nyah!
Today I have started off with an idea that I found on a core recipe site. I mixed plain, ss/ff yogurt with ss/ff cheesecake flavored pudding mix. The result was the yummiest, cheesecake-like yogurt ever. Had a handful of grapes too and feel full and happy.
Had an apple and piece of ff cheese...
Later, had Boca with a little ff shredded cheese and a piece of celery. Few snap peas found their way into my mouth as well. I stared at the WW 2 point bar I bought (before I knew about core) and decided against it.
Still hungy! 1 bag ff popcorn...
Happy core-fairy blessings to all...

Hi Kally! Yes, I do go to Vancouver but not as often these days--I'm often going south for school instead. Also, I'm afraid of Robsonstrasse--particularly Tsunami which used to be my favorite sushi place EVER. I dunno if I could maintain both being a vegetarian and core if I went near it! Sure would like to go to that Buddhist veg restaurant again though. I think it was on West Hastings?

After last week I was a little scared to WI. I kept telling myself that there are numerous other benefits to this life change, but...you know.
So yay that I did lose some this week. AND we talked about all the other benefits to activity. It's a good reminder to me; I used to be worried about a really rapid heartbeat when I lied down at night...now it's gone. Yay!
Lessee...apple, orange, 1/3 cup ff refried beans w/ scoop of yogurt. Steamed broccoli with lemon and butter spray. LOTS of water. Oh and a ff latte. Yum.

Night, it's so great that you have jumped right in and are posting and using this site. We love having new regulars on the site. Congratulations on making it through your trip so well. Traveling is tough on the body on it's own then add keeping track of your food too makes it even more of a challenge. Good job done!! Take care katie

I haven't been tracking my food here too well but I have a great excuse: packing and moving. Ruth and I are just getting the upstairs apartment, but a move is a move.
I'm feeling anxiety because I don't have much food left in the apartment and am packing all my pans and stuff. Thankfully, I'm right next to a food co-op, so healthy stuff is but a few steps away.
I won't be back to journal or comment until our internet is hooked up again--next week sometime. So journal is on hold--but core is not!
