Wednesday, Sept 21 Daily ReflectionsSo I had a run-in with some Hershey's Kisses yesterday. Ouch. Good thing I also had a run-in with a lot of exercise! Those little buggars are gone so quick, and add up just as fast! Apparently they're a trigger food, and I CAN'T eat just 1. Or 5. Or 10. Ugh.
I've also added a new goal as of today: no weighing in between WIs. All of my WIs are running together because I weigh so often, and it's difficult to track in my head. Besides, then there's no real surpise on WI morning, and if I happen to be up a little bit from my lowest WI day of the week, I get a little disappointed. So no more peeking is my resolution. (Monday is so far away!!)
I also learned that I don't like lettuce. I don't make salads for lunch because I just don't care much for eating lettuce. I always did it, eating the lettuce with the other goodies that were in there (meat, cottage cheese). But learned today that I can just bring the components that I like of a salad, as crudites, and dip em in dressing. Then I get my veggies, and a filling low-cal lunch, without the dreaded lettuce. YAY!
TONS of exercise yesterday. I wasn't even planning on half of it! The walk to the bus was planned, and the bike ride. But not the run or the weights! I got home and DF wanted help with his form when doing his lifting workout. I got bored so decided to do my workout at the same time. Then I was all pumped up, and not hungry for dinner, so I laced up my running shoes to burn off some energy. Felt GREAT! But am very sore this morning. No run or walk this morning. Will ride bike if there's no rain. Maybe I'll run tonight, haven't decided yet - will depend on how much my leg muscles are screaming at me .Goals:3 cardio sessions (30 mins each) 4 down!3 circuit training sessions (20-30mins ea) 1.5 down!10 H2O today minimum VITAMIN!!!!!!!!!!! Thursday, Sept 22 Daily Reflections Well, yesterday ended up being a much busier, crazier day than anticipated. I used up quite a few WPs, but in the global picture of the day I didn't eat all that poorly. I didn't squeeze quite all of my fruits and veggies in, or my water. But I wasn't gluttonous either, despite the fact that there were 4 kinds of pizza to choose from, and two full pies were left over for people to take home - I feel I did well by stopping at one slice.
The muffin was purely an emergency situation, as I didn't have time to go all the way to the fridge (conveniently placed at the opposite end of the next building over) to pick up my pineapple that I packed on our class break. And I was STARVING. (Wonder why with only one slice of pizza in my belly all day ... : So I made the best choice I could given what they have at the snackbar. Oh, and the bagel for breakfast was just because I wanted a bagel for breakfast - and didn't forsee using so many WPs later in the day!
Have a slower day today, despite an exam right off this morning - so I'll be able to fit in a bit of exercise. Unfortunately, there can't be any bike riding until my butt stops being so sore from my rides early in the week. My poor hiney hurts to sit on it!!
PS: It's hard not to WI between WIs, especially when you're certain you've lost!! Egads! I'm addicted to the scale! (But I haven't given in to temptation, despite the fact that there's a scale in our bedroom AND in our bathroom!!)

Hey Slimcris!
Just popping in for a quick "Good Morning!" Hope you have a great CORE day! I'm feeling so much happier back on CORE...hope I still lose weight.
I haven't gotten rid of that scale yet. A good idea! Seems like there's always one more thing for me to do! It's a beautiful day, so I'm going for a walk!
bye...Sandy

Sandy - I, too, am SO much happier since getting back to core. Those first couple of weeks back in school when I did flex made me bonkers! All I did was fixate on food. Core lets me relax, and as a result I end up eating less. Go figure!!

Saturday, Sept 24 Daily ReflectionsAhhhh ... Here I am, laying on the couch, typing in my journal on my new laptop! YAY! It arrived last night at 6:45. I was starting to get worried because UPS stops delivering at 7! It's SO great!!! And best of all, I wasn't even expecting it until NEXT Friday. But Dell is just awesome, because it came a week early, and only 6 days after I placed my order - holy smokes that's fast! I got an Inspiron 6000, and it's exactly what I've been looking for - have been having a great time doing my computing everywhere in the house!
Let's see - I missed a couple of journal days due to being busy, but I weighed in this morning and am down 2.5lbs!!! Maybe not peeking at the scale is what's helping me along! It was hard not to peek in the mornings, though. So it will need to remain a goal for me to stay off for another week.
I'm headed out now to stock up the fridge with my core staples, and buy some laptop accessories (mouse, padded backpack and flash drive). Hopefully this little tool will make it easier for me to get here consistently to update the journal!Goals:No weighing in before WI day. Ooooh I want one of those laptops. How nice! So you will be able to take it along to school with you, right?
Is it really that easy? How do you hook to the internet, same way?
How much are they? If you don't mind me asking.
I feel so free today, on CORE! WOW! You're right, FLEX is a pain in the arse!
Have a great weekend Miss Slimcris!

I got a laptop recently and I really like it. My only fear is that I will break the screen. Got rid of that finger control thing and jumped over to a mouse multo fasto. Much easier on this old broad. Have fun with it.

Hi ladies!
Sandy - Yes I'll take it to school with me! That's one of its primary functions right now. For note taking and mobile homeworking. I'm in so many different places all day every day that it gets hard for me to get work done. Having a portable station makes perfect sense for my lifestyle right now. I hate being tied to a desk! So much nicer to sit here and type to you with my feet up on the coffee table!
This model was $838 after shipping and all. I went with slightly higher than a bare-bones model because of some of the functions I needed for it to do. Before shipping and taxes I think it was $748. The price is actually lower than that right now by $100 - guess I bought it a week too soon!
You can get pretty nice little machines for around $5-600 now at the major retail stores (circuit city, best buy, staples, etc) if you don't need them to do anything requiring terrific graphics cards, or run multiple memory-sucking programs at the same time. If you're just using the things for email and surfing the web, the cheap ones on the market are just fine.
As far as connecting to the internet goes, we have cable and fed that into a wireless router, so that we can have internet access anywhere in the apartment, without lines holding us down. If you use dial up, you'd just plug it in and use it like your desktop. Same account and number and everything.
Kally - a mouse was the first thing I got for it. I hate the touchpad - drives me nuts. I'm a HUGE multitasker, always have at least three prorams I'm working with at a time, and the touchpads are simply too slow. I only use it if I'm doing something fast and don't feel like plugging in my mouse.
I got a wireless mouse - there's a signal that goes to a flash drive you plug into the USB port from the mouse unit. Can you tell I don't like to be bogged down by wires?? Haha

why don't you take your receipt in so they can give yu $100 back. They should do tht when it goes on sale so quickly after you bought it.
How do I get my apartment wireless. I have my desktop hooked up to internet, but don't know how to get my laptop online.

You can only make it wireless if you have cable internet. If you do, then you can just pick up a wireless router (~$50) and set it up according to the directions on the box. The cable plugs into the box and transmits a wireless signal. If your laptop has a wireless network card, it'll pick the signal right up. And you can still keep your desktop plugged in.

Sunday, Sept 25 Daily ReflectionsI got so much done yesterday! DF and I took right off in the morning, did laundry, went grocery shopping, cleaned the fridge, did some clothes shopping for him. Then I cooked my turkey and veggies. Yummy dinner It was a good day! And we had plenty of time to relax when it was all over, which was nice. Saturdays are my favorite.
Work all day today - somehow that's just not as much fun. Should be made easier with the presence of my laptop though!Goals:No weighing in before WI day. I just have to say, I LOVE my laptop! Here I am, at the elementary school playground with my twins, on a BEAUTIFUL fall day, watching them be monkeys, while browsing the boards on the school's wireless network. Who knew?! This is great!

Monday, Sept 26 Daily ReflectionsI used some WPs yesterday, and boy were they yummy! I did remarkably well, considering that when I'm with the boys I generally binge on all of the food in their house that I don't keep in mine (for exactly that reason). Butter, bread, sweets, crackers. Yesterday I decided to nip the habit in the bud, and instead of hanging around the food-filled house all day, I took them out to the park for two hours. I packed my own lunch. While they napped I enjoyed some tea, in the livingroom with my laptop, far away from the kitchen. After nap at movie time, I had a little bit of popcorn with some butter - what a treat! And I left it at that. I'm happy with my performance, as I never expected to leave the house without using any WPs at all.
My butt has finally stopped being sore, so it's back to the bike today! If I have time before school I'll walk DF to the bus, too - just to get in a little more activity. I won't have time, though, if I don't get my butt off my journal! Tuesday Sept 27 Daily Reflections I ended up getting in some good exercise yesterday, an hour total. Today is a bit less because I have to drop the car off at the garage after school, so I couldn't ride my bike to class. I did walk to the bus, though.
I've done so well this week, and am very proud of myself. It hasn't even been that hard! I'm fully back into the swing of core, and it rocks! Very busy with school work today, which has kept me from snacking - I even worked right through lunch and had to eat during lecture. Hi Miss SLIM Chris!
Just wondering how you're doing today. I am so happy to be back to CORE. I'm not stressing over my eating one way or the other. Yesterday I didn't eat much (for me, anyway)...I just kept mindful about it.
I went to the chiropractor again and finally feel good! On my home scale (yes, I look every morning) I have finally broken under 160 ...158 to be exact. Well this is huge for me, since I have been stuck for so many months. Something good is happening.
Have a good day. And good for you with foregoing the snacks at the boys' house. That must be hard, just knowing they are there. Do you take stuff with you?
I decided to take a little gift bag with stuff whenever I go to the grandchildren's because I never know what they're having or how long I'll be there. Just some popcorn and tortillas and soy cheese and maybe some ff pudding and ff milk. Something in case they're having desserts and snacks.
See ya later!
Sandy
