I get a brown rice/wild rice mix from the bulk bin at Sun Harvest it is about half and half. I cook it in my rice cooker just like brown rice, then add stuff to it after. When I am making it at home I add it 1 serving at a time but for the pot luck I just added it to the big pot and mixed it in and left it in the cooker on warm
Here is what and how I do the add ins.
1- Use serving of healthy oil and saute what ever you want to add, if you are doing the 1-2 servings then add the rice to the skillet and heat through once the add ins are cooked. Kind of like fried rice and I will also add spray PAM so the rice doesn't stick.
Add ins can vary
1- Olive oil, garlic, onions or green onions, sage, almonds
2- Olive oil, garlic, green onion, sage, green olives with pimentos chopped fine
3- sesame oil, green onion, soy sauce, diced celery, almonds
4-olive oil, onions, canned green chilis,
5- olive oil, onions, garlic, celery, bell pepper, season salt, pecans
6- olive oil, chopped black olive, capers, onions, sun dried tomato strips
Please add ideas for add ins for wild rice "dressings"/Pilaf
