I just found out that I have diverticulosis and can no longer eat popcorn. Any ideas on other core snacks that would help with the crunchy snack other than veggies because I eat a ton of them. HELP

Dill pickles, if you like 'em. If you search the boards, someone posted a recipe for bbq chips, made with irish potatoes and various seasonings. Most salsas are core, so if it's worth points to you, you could choose some low point chips, and have with or without salsa.

Thanks Durania for your suggestions. I am really at a loss, because popcorn is what got me to the loss I am at now, and without it I am finding it much harder to get the scale to budge. I am looking for I guess the crunchy salty like chips, popcorn etc. I am opened for any ideas. Dill pickles, if you like 'em. roasted chickpeas? I found some dry-roasted edamame at Trader Joe's. It has just soybeans and salt - no oil. They are green not brown.

I just found out that I love chickpeas. I didnt even know what they were until someone on ww boards told me.
I put 2 tsp of olive oil in a saucepan with garlic powder, cumin, salt, pepper and mixed until heated.
I then poured over dried chickpeas (just put between papertowel and dry off) and made sure they were all coated.
Pop in oven at 400 for about 45 minutes and they are crunchy and healthy. Im making more tonight!
I hope that made sense!

PB, are you sure it is diverticulosis? The docs tried to tell me that for almost a year - so I had a colonoscopy and there was no sign of it at all. I'm glad I didn't alter my diet to their recommendations. About once a year I will get an inflamed colon and have a fairly severe illness for a week or so, but a dose of antibiotics will clear it.
I think most of my intestinal problems have been related to sensitivity to certain foods - dairy, eggs, shellfish, sugar substitutes, even meat cooked over wood fires & charcoal, etc. Unless you read every label and know what is in all food it is impossible to catch all of the possibilities.

Do you like pickled cucumbers (the kind you get at asian restaurants)? Great sweet crunchy treat.
1/3 cup of rice vinegar 2 TB splenda 1/4 cup of chopped ginger (optional) 1 english cucumber
Mix wet ingredients.
Chop up cucumber into slices.
Marinate for at least an hour.

Hi everyone! This is my first post here!
I have a great salsa recipe that I make and then eat it with celery. I know it may sound funny but I even got my husband addicted. It's all about the crunch and flavor of the salsa. Also, I make the CookingLight chickpea dip and eat it with baby carrots. Here's the salsa recipe:
One-Minute Salsa Makes about 1 cup
This quick salsa can be made with either fresh or canned tomatoes, but if you're using fresh, make sure they are sweet, ripe, in-season tomatoes. If they aren't, canned tomatoes are a better choice.
1/2 small jalapeno chile or 1/2 chipotle chile in adobo sauce, minced 1/4 small red onion, peeled and root end removed 1 small garlic clove, minced or pressed 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro leaves 1/4 teaspoon salt Pinch ground black pepper 2 teaspoons juice from 1 lime 2 small ripe tomatoes (about 3/4 pound), each cored and cut into eighths, or one (14-ounce) can diced tomatoes, drained
Pulse all ingredients except tomatoes in food processor until minced, about five 1-second pulses, scraping sides of bowl as necessary. Add tomatoes and pulse until roughly chopped, about two 1-second pulses.
Enjoy! Hope this helps. Julie

Edamame is a good snack food, if you like it. Sprinkle with some salt and pepper and it's as good as popcorn, in my book!

How about sugar snap peas? In my grocery store they sell them in the pre-washed ready to eat bags near the salad and they are so good! My 4 year old begs me to put them in her lunch!

I found some sugar free bread and butter pickles at the store the other day! Not sure if the pickled seeds would cause a flair up with the diverticulosis??
carrots with hummus is a favorite crunchy snack of mine too.

The roasted chickpeas are YUMMY!!! Even my 2-year-old liked them. They remind me of peanuts.
