Banana Ice Cream
(from the Veggie Board on WW)
2-3 frozen bananas (w/o peel)
- Place frozen bananas in food processor and blend until smooth*
Serving suggestions: Top with carob fudge sauce or strawberry sauce. You can also add carob powder, coconut or any other flavoring to the food processor. Andrew Weil recommends added some cocoa powder and a wee bit of maple syrup for "chocolate ice cream."
I made this tonight for DF, who LOVES ice cream. He couldn't stop eating it. Even I, one who is a confirmed ice cream hater, tasted it and thought it was delicious.
*As you blend this in a food processor, you'll notice the banana looks gritty. Keep blending. It will "cream" up like soft serve ice cream.
** 3 banans will make 2 servings.

Will a really good blender work or do you really need a food processor?

Blender is fine...that's what I used, cause until my shower, I won't have a food processer. ;D

Sorry - can't help you there. You might want to ask your grocery store or google it.

This is definitely good. It also works with frozen mango chunks, which I found in the frozen food section of Whole Foods. Whole Foods also had a frozen tropical fruit mix of banana, mango and papaya that I prepared the same way.
With the banana, I always add 1 teaspoon of cocoa powder, a splash of milk and vanilla, and a little Equal to make a chocolate version.

I tied this in my blender but I had a hard time keeping the bananas in the path of the blades. It was yummy when I finally got it done though.

This seems so easy. Do you freeze it after you blend it in the processor??
