I hate paying $5 for a box of Fiber One cereal, and I wonder what it is that makes it Core. We have a Trader Joe's closeby and I'd love to be able to buy something like it there (for less money). thanks for your replies.

Linda - I believe other brands of high fiber cereal contain sugar; Fiber One and Kellogg's All-Bran Extra Fiber use artificial sweetener. If you get Kellogg's, make sure it's the Extra Fiber version. Although I like these cereals, I prefer shredded wheat for cold cereal which I can buy in a store brand.
I've been eating oatmeal all summer and find it filling, yummy, and economical. We have central air, so the heat hasn't been a problem.

Thanks, Tina. Looking for SF high fiber cereals makes sense.

I've never found the Kellog's no sugar brand and have really grown to love Fiber One, esp. With splenda and some sliced fruit. I know that WW finally has a core version of one of their cereals, but I've never tried it. It's Vanilla Puffed Wheat, which you can read about here: www.goodchoicecereal.com/

Another tip is to buy Fiber One at Target, where it is less expensive than at the grocery store.
I didn't care for the Weight Watcher's cereal that is core (it's something like vanilla puffed wheat), but that is my personal preference -- I found it too sweet.
I have started buying shredded wheat -- the store brand -- and alternate that with the Fiber One and the hot cereals.
