This is so unrelated to food but need to ask this question. Has anyone ever had "SLT" therapy for glaucoma? I had it today. It is supposed to be a simple thing but my eye is still scratchy and feels like it has sand in it. It is better then right after treatment but I think it should be all better by now. Thought perhaps someone had some experience with this sort of thing. Medicare will pay for this therapy but they will not pay for drops that cost a fortune. I decided to have this treatment rather than put out mega buck for drops. No prescription coverage.

I don't know anything about it myself - but can you call the office you had it done in? They should know better than anyone how long discomfort should last, and whether or not what you're experiencing is normal.

Sorry - I have the beginning stage of glaucoma, but I have drops I have to use every night. (it runs in the family; both my dad and his brother also have been diagnosed). Slimcris is right, you should call your doctor's office - I can't believe you are supposed to be experiencing this discomfort.

Thank you or your reponse, the eye is better this morning. don't know what will happen as the day goes on. I was using drops that are very expensive. I don't have prescription coverage and my husband put out $5,000.00 in prescriptions for just he alone last year. Medicare will pay for this surgery that will replace the need for drops. they will not pay for the drops. Go figure. I think I may need to have this done every 6 months. It is new therapy for beginning glaucoma. I thin k it is on the way to recovery. I was told it was such a simple thing. So didn't expect this discomfort. I have been reading up on it. I guess is it normal for some people to have this discomfort. Thank all of you for your support.

the eye is all better. Thank you. I was a baby. I am usually very brave about things like this. The eye we take for granted and when we can't see we get scared. It's awful not to be able to see. What a gift we have and don't realize it. I will need to have this done every 6 months.
