Hi Everyone,
This is my first post to this board, although I confess to lurking on this board for a while before becoming a legitimate member. I just returned to WW and core last week and have realized that I need to change my attitude and my thinking in order to bring about success in my weight loss efforts. I wanted to share a little anecdote that my WW leader shared with us last night about picking yourself up after a slip-up.
She said, " Picture yourself in the kitchen cooking with eggs and you put two eggs on the edge of the counter, knowing that they might fall off and it was risky. They roll off the counter, of course, and fall to the floor and break. Are you going to say, 'oh well now because these two eggs have broken, I am now going to take the other ten and throw them onto the floor and break them too!!!' NO!!! You just clean up the mess and take out two more eggs and continue cooking!"
I thought this was so inspirational. It made me see how absurdly hard on myself I have been and that has only led to me straying from the program. I have always let one slip up put me off track for months. I have been "throwing all my eggs on the floor" for too long. I will never throw all my eggs on the floor again!!! I am just going to go on and continue cooking!!!
I hope this helps in those moments when we are all down on ourselves for making a choice that might not have been the best for us. We need to forget about it and move on.
Dale

What a good analogy. How appropriate this is in all aspects of our lives. Thanks for sharing it with us. I really hate cleaning up eggs since they are so slimy. I need to look at a slip up in a similar light. I don't want to clean up any messes from a slip up either. This will help keep me on track in this next stage of keeping my weight off.

Thank you - I needed this. I have weigh-in tomorrow and I am SCARED. I went out of town AGAIN and before that, my weigh-in was up about a 1.5 lbs. Although I've gotten 'back on track' but still not as strong as I was, I am scared to do it. I will cowboy it up and do it. Why keep breaking more eggs!
