Susie, I tried something last night as I was eating my dinner. Instead of the normal silence or miscellaneous background noise, I turned on soft, classical music. I'm not talking the piano pounding "Da-da-da-dum....da-da-da-dum....", but more like gentle rainfall classical. (Sorry, I can't remember the CD that was in there or I'd be more specific.)
Anyway, I found it was very difficult to plow through your food when your background music encourages slow, enjoyable eating. I thought I'd share!

Did you know there's a whole science to restaurant design that's meant to manipulate how long it takes a table to "turn over"?
Red makes people eat faster, pastel colors slower. People eat faster depending on the pace and volume of the background music. You've hit the nail on the head!

I'm in trouble then.. my kitchen is bright red and my plates are red... no wonder I eat fast...lol thanks for the music tip... a great idea..better than the tv im sure ;D
