After reading the post here about Macaroni Grill I had to add that Olive Garden also has whole wheat pasta. I was there a few months back and had the whole wheat linguini marinara and it was really good. They also have their menu posted on their website if you want to check it out before you go.

I had the ww linguine as a substitute for the campelini pasta in the campelini pomodoro (sp). Awesome! I know they used some olive oil in the dish so I counted that as my oil requirement. I had WPA's so I'm sure I used some of them w/the dish. Even if I was counting points the lunch size portion is only 8 points--nice portion size I might add.

Don't forget--you can order the salad plain (I can actually eat it with just salt and pepper or for those of you who bring your own dressing) and the last time I went, we were able to take home the breadsticks (I actually had the willpower not to eat even one!)

I had gotten in just last week, they even has a flier up front when you walk in!!!!!!!!! i hate how restuarants don't keep their employees informed, arrr......then she practilly ignored us the rest of the night cause i insisted that the low fat exsisted! but in general i do like to go there:) j

I know they have a light house dressing you can order (not sure about the ranch one) and they'll bring it on the side with the salad.
Their vegetable minestrone soup is good, and you can avoid the pasta in it to make it core.

Are there certain items already made with whole wheat pasta, or can you order any meal and have whole wheat pasta used instead? I checked the website out a few weeks ago and saw no mention of whole wheat pasta, so I am still confused about this.

It says on their website :
"Choose whole wheat linguine with your pasta selection. Whole wheat pasta has three times more fiber and roughly 17% fewer carbohydrates than traditional pasta."
I found this by clicking on 'our menu's' and then 'garden fare'
I haven't tried it yet, but may have to sometime soon for a treat. I'm not sure I'll be able to avoid the breadsticks. I have great willpower with some items, but not with others.

On the ww pasta, you do have to request it. I've gone several times and ordered different entrees and each time, gotten the ww pasta. So pick a dish that you think would sound good with linquine and order it!
I normally order the ones with the olive branch (I think that's what they put by the healthier choices). Everything I've had has been wonderful.

Olive Gardens whole wheat pasta is really good. They mention it in the menu in small letters on the right side of the main menu down towards the bottom. I saw it in the CT menu in Enfield and Manchester and one of the restraunts in Florida. It is really good and you can substitute it for any of the pastas in any of the dishes.

You can also request whatever sauce on the side, or order a dish without the pasta - just whatever it would be topped with. The minestrone soup & salad is also a great OG meal, for maybe $5. The soup does have pasta in it, you'd need to count WPAs for that. Just watch out for the breadsticks!

I went to olive garden for my birthday. I had the chicken giardino and had it with the whole wheat pasta. It was delicious but I'm not sure how core the sauce was. It was listed as a lowfat meal and the lunch size portion was only 6.5 points. I only ate half of it so if there were WPA to count it couldn't have been too many.
I did spend some WPA on dessert though. That black tie mousse cake - OMG!

I just wanted to add one thing...
if you really want this Core Plan to be comfortable as possible, bring those things you need... I bring dressings that I have confidence that I will move that sacle down. I don't care for most restaurants' Italian dressing. I only like Good Seasons and it's so easy to bring your own and enjoy your food whichever dressing you like.

WOW - I had NO idea that Olive Garden offered low-fat salad dressings. If you go to www.olivegarden.com then select our menu from the top of the page, then garden fare and find the place to enter your zip code - you can find out what lower fat options are available at your local Olive Garden. Thanks for the info.........
