I sometimes add sun dried tomatoes to mine (after I've soaked them in water). Also a little lemon juice gives it zing! ;D

If you're not wanting to add the bean liquid, you can also add in a little yogurt. Cooking Light has a recipe for what they call "Chickpea Dip" ( ) that has 1/4 cup yogurt in it. The recipe is remarkably similar to the one below and tastes just like hummus. Oh, and another possible spice to include is paprika! Very tasty.

Hey, I've got a really good recipe I love as well, which is similar.
Hummus ****** 1 can chickpeas or garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed 1 lemon, quartered segments like an orange 1 clove garlic, minced 1 TBSP tahini (sesame seed butter) 2-3 TBSP minced cilantro 1 tsp ground cumin salt & pepper to taste (I like a lot of pepper)
There isn't a lot of liquid in this recipe, so it's much easier with a hand-held blender. Peel and pick out the seeds in the lemon wedges with a knife. Blend until smooth. (If using a blender, start with the lemon at the bottom to make the ingredients blend smoother.)
Makes a very flavourful, thick hummus. I keep organic tahini in the fridge just for this recipe.
Green hummus dip *************** Hummus recipe above (omit the cilantro) Add 2 cups packed fresh spinach to the blender
This is a vivid-green dip that looks wonderful and is excellent with vegetable crudites as a mini-meal. The spinach makes the dip milder and more creamy.

Tahini is not core so you would have to count points for it.
