I just ate a Starbuck's egg salad sandwich. It was about 15 points, and it wasn't even very tasty, and I'm not pleased with myself right now.
Why did I do it? Because we haven't had a chance to go grocery shopping this week and the cupboard is bare. My brother works at Starbuck's and brought these sandwiches home last night, and it was the only EASY thing around to eat.
Being well-prepared with proper shopping habits is of the utmost importance.

I totally agree--a well-stocked pantry really helps keep you on track, even when you're tired and don't feel like cooking or when life happens. I also keep a 3-ring binder in my pantry with easy, quick core recipes that use pantry items that I can throw together if my schedule prevents me from cooking my regularly-planned meal.

Not only do I have to have my stash of stuff for quick meals, but I also have a well-stocked "grab shelf" in my fridge and cupboard.
The grab shelf has yogurt, soy cheese, HB eggs, boiled shrimp, olives, pickles, grape tomatoes, baby carrots, milk, premade and powdered WW smoothies, soup, popcorn, tuna packets, oatmeal, shredded wheat, and SF/FF hot cocoa mix. It also has some low-point items - usually hummus, TLC crackers, 1 point cheese (string cheese and/or Laughing Cow), and PB. There are also veggie burgers in the freezer, and 1-point buns or 2-for-1-point bread.
I've avoided many a swerve into a fast food restaurant by just imagining what's on the grab shelf, and talking myself into waiting to eat until I get home. I'm surprised how well it works.

I love those ideas: the recipe binder and the grab shelf. I'm definitely going to implement them. Thanks!

Kashi TLC crackers. 15 for 2 points, no trans fats, and tasty.

Also planning a few meals ahead and having some prepared meals in the freezer that you can easily heat up are great for short of time meals. I always have fruit, baby carrots, frozen veggies, boca burgers, 100 cal pack cookies or crackers (I can controll them much better than an open box) WW ice cream bars. Mock crab, eggs. I like to cook and have always made it a time priority so I rarely have the desire to swing through a drive through. But I don't always want to have an involved meal, so we also have black beans, instant brown rice, lean ground beef and the veggies for a very quick taco over rice meal. The bottom line is to always be prepared. Hmmmmm isn't that a famous motto?lol

I 100% agree that freequent planning and visits to the grocery store are the keys to my maintenance. My DH teases me, but I actually LOVE going to the grocery store!
I think it is especially important with CORE because most of what we eat is fresh--refridgerated food. PLUS I keep my freezer filled with frozen veggeis and frozen meats. Pretty quick and easy to make in a jam! ;D
