Good for you Kasha on the weigh-in! Your fresh fruits and veggies sound heavenly--with the flowers still attached!
Ahhh I could sure use some of that sunshine! I feel like a mole here in Oklahoma. We had tornadoes run through last night, but it's a beautiful day this morning!
Have a great CORE week!

The cocoa snack cake could not be considered 'good'. Great texture though. It would need to be split and stuffed with something tasty to be acceptable. Too bad!
Hi there nightsinge! Thanks for coming by!
Breakfast this am was a very nice, but too big bowl of oatmeal with cinnamon, fake sugar and applesauce. One of my favorite breakfasts. I need to not use the half cup measure, but maybe a heaping third, because I threw some away.
Lunch was eaten in two parts because of time and work and was steak, cherry tomatoes, an orange and a small banana and a 1.5 liter bottle of water, just at work, which means I keep getting up to o to the bathroom, but it is a good way to drink water.
I may try to pop popcorn in a dry pan. Popcorn isn't that common in France, and I found a little and rather expensive bag, but I heard you could do it in the microwave in a brown paper bag, but there are no paper bags in France, almost at all, isn't that strange, so I'm going to see if it can be done in a pan. If it can, that will be a snack.
Dinner will be salad, grilled ham, twice baked potatoes with the potato, green onions, maybe some ham cubes, and cancoillotte stuffed in them. This last is a French thing. We have this, but no paper bags, go figure! It is a sort of cheese, but made with 0% milk you can eat hot or cold, kind of the texture of a melted fondue. I got garlic flavor, so that could be tasty.
If dessert is necessary, it will be pineapple or an orange. Dessert hasn't been necessary lately, although I did catch my husband slicing an orange with cinnamon on top, a miracle for him not to look for something chocolate.
Got to go figure out the potateos. We don't have baking potatoes here, so I'll probably need to boil them, then just put them under the broiler. It won't be exactly the effect I want, but it should still work!

Hi there Wildflower, thanks for coming in. I was really happy with the even 1.3 pound loss. I'm sure there will be weeks when it is less....

Broiled potatoes that have been boiled slightly are crispy and wonderful. I know what you mean about baking potatoes--I tried to do the twice baked thing with thin-skinned ones and it didn't work. What I ended up doing was mashing them slightly, putting ff shredded cheese and steamed broccoli on top, and putting them back under the broiler. They were yummy. I'll bet your dinner will be wonderful. Have a great week!

Did have the pineapple, gave the juice to the husband, everyone was happy. The potatoes worked, but I should have broiled them a bit longer--next time. It is a nice change though, and the husband got a kick out of eating potato skins, which he found exotic. The salad was baby lamb's lettuce and nice. there is a lot of one particular mineral in it, but I don't remember what.
I decided this afternoon that for every 5 pounds lost, that is pretty much 2.5 kilos, a bit less, I get a present. I was going to wait for 10 pounds, but decided 5 was just fine. The present should not exceed 25 Euros, but can be under. That will give me enough leeway if I want fancy makeup or something. I think I still have 2 weeks, with luck, before I get the 5 pound mark. I'm at 3.5 pounds now, not counting the first week, because I don't know what that was and it was only a half Core introduction. We will see....

Me too on the non-food reward present thing! I decided to wait for ten pounds the first time--then we'll see. What presents do you have in mind?

I must not have posted what I wrote yesterday!
Breakfast was some oatmeal with applesauce, too much and I didn't eat it all.
Lunch was a banana, and orange, cherry tomatoes and steak.
Dinner was inspired, stuffed potatoes with green onions, ham cubes and cancoillotte, a French 0% cheese thing and a lamb's lettuce salad and pineapple. Very good, even though we don't have baking potatoes here, I had to boil then hollow them out, then bake, next time I would broil.
I hope it didn't accidentally post yesterday's post where it didn't belong!

Today:
Breakfast baked blueberry oatmeal and a glass of milk
Lunch will cost me points, massaman curry with chicken and rice. I may be able to lighten it up a little...another one of these fantastic baskets of all of the spices and veggies you need from the restaurant in Paris. It is supposed to be lamb, but would be just as good with chicken, for me.
Going out to take a walk in preparation for using some extras points. I work the 1.30-8 shift at school, so I have some free time this am, time to get moving.

I love to read your posts and to get a little taste of a different culture. I've only every lived here in Iowa, and have traveled very little, so I really enjoy your posts. When I was losing I too had rewards. Sometimes it was something purchased, sometimes it was just to sit and read a book or sew something for myself, or even a movie out with DH. I set small realistic goals along the way, simply to not have a gain until the next holiday. I joined in mid October so my 1st goal was to not have a gain on the scale until Thanksgiving, then Christmas, Valentines, Easter, and so on. This worked very well for me. I didn't care if I lost .2 or many pounds as long as the scale moved down. Congratulations on 1.3 lost. That's a great loss. Take care Katie

Ok, that worked--who knows? Had an orange late in the afternoon, which made the whole office smell good, then came home from work very late, 8.30, and made cous cous with veggies and some chicken, but didn't eat much. I don't know yet if I didn't want couscous or I'm not hungry...we'll see. Hi toKatelight. It is cold here in the SOuth of France, kind of disappointing, because I could see the end of winter last week. there were big protest marches by the university studetns all over France today and a huge on in town, outside my window. the are upset about a new work contract that will allow employers to fire people under 25 in the first 2 years of their job for no reason. I think they will have to work on rewriting the law a bit. Looking forward to a good sleep,

12 hours at work--bad day.
Breakfast was baked blueberry oatmeal and milk Lunch, the leftover baked stuffed potatoes, grapes and 2 fromage frais with fake sugar. Dinner, the husband provided and I figure I better figure 20 points, spinach ricotta canellini, and tiny choux. Tomorrow needs to be a very conservative day to make up for today, which should be no problem. Lots of walking tomorrow too, so that's good.
You can't always control everything! Especially husbands...

Husband had to get a plane at 4.45am for Paris, everyone in the house was awake--blech!
Breakfast: blueberry oatmeal, glass of 0% milk and a banana.
Succeeded in making popcorn in a covered bowl in the microwave with no oil, nothing. Good idea, and will be an occasional snack as well as my alternative to all of those aperitif crackers and stuff you have to give people in France with drinks when they come for dinner. here they eat popcorn mainly with sugar, if at all.
Lunch was steak, a small avocado with vinegar, some elntils. I'll take an orange to work this afternoon for a snack.
Dinner...smoked salmon, half an avocado and leftover very good veggie soup which I will make again.

Yum on the avacados, eh? A friend introduced me to this not quite recipe: slice an avacado, squeeze a lime and sprinkle some salt on it. Yum!

I will certainly try the avocado with lime and salt. We get really tiny ones here, half the size of what you would see as a normal avocado.
Breakfast today, baked blueberry oatmeal, it isn't gone yet....and a glass of milk. I need to make muffins to take to a sick friend, but I thin I'm going to look for ones that other people would like but I wouldn't as I'm feeling easily tempted so far. maybe that will go away if I eat breakfast and find something interesting for lunch.
Didn't post--hmm... lunch small steak with fat free homemade refried beans, bulgur mixed with chives and salsa, leftover lentils with tomatoes.
Found smoked salmon on the Core list--yeah!!
