Sandy, Thanks for your comments in my journal....and a big WELCOME to Core and these boards!
I guess you could say I'm proof that Core really works. I admit to being a bit "anal" about it, though. I've got alot more to lose and a little time to do it in, so I'm probably more strict with myself than most. I'm mother of the bride in June, so I'd like to get to goal by May (so I can look for the "perfect" dress).
Best of luck in your Core journey! Debbie

![](http://home.ripway.com/2005-2/257758/barflowr.gif) Wow...today was great! I made a recipe for the bean salad (I can't remember who posted it) but it was so good! ....I feel like I'm getting the hang of this. I have copied some recipes, want to try some good ideas from the others. I am NOT hungry, and NOT over-eating...so far so good. I feel like the NOT measuring is just awesome. The first 2 days I had pretty huge plates...today smaller...Hey! I can always have seconds of CORE! Cool! ![](http://home.ripway.com/2005-2/257758/barflowr.gif) Today I had: Early Morning: Coffee, no creamer About Noon: 1 gold potatoe & 1/4 onion, fried in 2 tsp. olive oil & 2 scrambled egg beaters with salsa over all. 1 1/2 oranges (snacky) baby carrots dipped in yogurt w/Ranch seasoning (snacky) Dinner: 1 1/2 c. (or so) CORE salad (with black beans, dk. red kidney beans, grilled chicken breast--chopped, chopped avacado, chopped onion, chopped fresh cilantro, & salsa.) & 1 glass (16 oz.) Silk Soy Milk--plain & my SHAKLEE vitamins. Evening: 1 fugi apple & 2 ff cheese slices. (I like Laughing Cows lite better--2 pts. for 2...but worth it) ![](http://home.ripway.com/2005-2/257758/barflowr.gif)

[glow=red,2,300][/glow] I think I'm getting the hang of this, and feeling the benefits of CORE that everyone is talking about. I did not feel hungry or tempted for junk last night...I really want to stick with REAL foods..... No sweeteners, etc. Doing very good. The first couple of days my weight jumped up about 5 lbs....I guess it was just the big plates of yogurt and cottage cheese or something....anyway, that is going down again. I left my ticker the same. I also remembered the 2 tsp. olive oil yesterday and drank water...but I'm not counting anything...even water. Met another CORBIE at the online chat...so fun! She's lost 38 lbs. on CORE, now that was an inspiration!!.....(Hi Pat!)... ![](http://home.ripway.com/2005-2/257758/barflowr.gif) Today I am having: Early Morning: Coffee, 1 tsp. creamer Breakfast: The leftover Chicken & Bean salad 1 orange (snacky) Lunch: Old fashioned oatmeal with Silk Soy Milk-plain, and 2 Tbsp. Nutrtional Yeast No Sugar! No Splenda! It was very good!Dinner: Salad with: thin sliced cauliflower frozen peas, slightly thawed whole beets 1 grilled chicken breast, cubed 2 tsp. Olive Oil Catalina Free dressing & 1 glass (12 oz.) "Silk" Soy milk--plain & my SHAKLEE vitamins (Vavoom!) Evening: Nothing...not hungry! Now that's a switch!!P.S. I did end up having an apple with a slice of ff swiss cheese. nice. [glow=red,2,300][/glow]

HI KAY!Thanks for the encouragement! I'm getting with it...spent the entire day reading this board, from the beginning, how it came about. It is so inspiring...I sure wish I'd gotten here last month! I just talked to my sister about CORE...she has lost 50 lbs. this year, on her own. But after I visited with her, she is definitely doing it CORE! Here is a wonderful recipe from her and her girlfriend: MANGO SALAD:Chop the following (guessing at the amounts): Mango sliced kiwi Avacado Fresh Spinach Leaves Green Onions Celery Fresh Shrimp Add: Olive Oil Salt & Pepper (just a bit) Juice of a fresh lemon P.S. I made this salad...it is sooo delicious. I think it would be good with peaches instead of mangoes too. I think I could get hooked on this salad.....and it's TOTALLY CORE! I goofed up and offered my son half of it...darn, I could have eaten the whole thing! (or had more the next day) He liked it too! She also told me about a "SMOOTHIE" she has every day:fresh berries (or other fruit) cold milk (or "Silk" Soy Milk) ice cubes banana (optional) fresh vanilla (or other flavoring) SHAKLEE Energizing Soy Protein (also optional) Splenda (yuck!) or 1 Tbsp. Honey--for me! (1 WPA) I'll look for your posts! Do you have a journal yet? Hey everybody get a journal! This is fun! Sandy![](http://home.ripway.com/2005-2/257758/barflowr.gif)

Hi Sandy! That mango recipe sounds fabulous. I wonder if it would work with frozen mangoes...I have some in the freezer.
The shake sounds good too! I used to make "Weight Watcher" shakes too but am sort of out of the habit since I stopped using Splenda. I think I'll try making one without any sugar or sweetener to see if I like it that way now. My sweet tooth is much less demanding than it used to be. ;D
Yes I have a journal: Kay's Journal - Fie on Faux Foods! I only started it after the Real Foods Challenge had been underway for a couple of days but it's been fun to do. I think there's going to be a special thread about the challenge tomorrow (Sunday) and I'm looking forward to reading what others are doing.
Best wishes for a happy and successful week to come!

I gotta get a mango today to make it. Also, the Laughing Cow Light cheese..not core...1 point each...good with an apple. It's getting better and better! I wasn't hungry in the morning, so I didn't eat until 3 p.m. I was not famished, fixed a nice meal, ate it slowly...and that was it! I didn't eat again until late evening (about 10 p.m.), same thing. I can actually "TASTE" things. And I feel so relaxed. It's no big deal! Early Morning: Coffee, 1 tsp. creamer Breakfast: wasn't hungry Lunch: Still wasn't hungry. Late Afternoon Dinner: Yukon Gold potatoes, thin sliced & onions--fried in 2 tsp. olive oil About 4 Egg Beaters (I'm trying to get rid of these) & 2 slices ff swiss with Salsa--just a bit Small bunch of green grapes 1 (16-oz) glass of Silk Soy milk-plain ![](http://home.ripway.com/2005-2/257758/barflowr.gif) My SHAKLEE Vitamins [glow=red,2,300]VAVOOM ! ! ! What a buzz! Late Evening: Shrimp Salad with thin sliced cauliflower 1/2 cucumber, sliced 3 or 4 tiny whole beets 1/4 c. frozen peas, thawed slightly 1 dozen shrimp w/ cocktail sauce Dressing: Ott's Famous Fat-Free French Later on: 1 apple with 1 slice ff swiss Drank lots of water today...I was thirsty. Hi Sandy, Thanks for the comments in my journal!
The military ball was fun....it was actually for the JROTC program at my daughter's high school. I as there as the "President of the JROTC Parents Support Group", which is a group of the parents that have fund raisers to provide food and other stuff to the kids. THe annual ball is quite an event, with all the boys in dress uniform and girls in gowns. THere is a big military presence there. It's held at a local hotel with dinner and dancing. My husband and I were with only 6 other parents so we were pretty outnumbered! We DID dance though, so it was a nice night out for us. I wore a black two piece pants outfit. It was pretty dressy and "flow-y". I'll be happier next year to wear something a little less matronly, though.
Sounds like you're doing great on core. I know I love it. I was able to eat a really nice dinner out, and not eat the potatoes or the rolls, and still had a great time!!
Have a good one! Debbie

Hi Sandy! You are really listening to what your body is saying to you...way to go!!!!
I love that Laughing Cow cheese...discovered it when I was doing the Atkins diet a few months ago, and it's one of my favorite snacks with apple or celery. Definitely worth the points, when I feel like having it.
Wow that shrimp salad sounds good. Now I'm thinking I need to make a run to Trader Joe's and pick up some frozen cooked shrimp to have one day this coming week. No cooking required...I love it!
Keep up the good work!
PS: Thanks again for visiting my journal...I left you a little note over there too.

![](http://home.ripway.com/2005-2/257758/barflowr.gif) [glow=red,2,300][/glow] home.ripway.com/2005-2/257758/love_010.gif [/img] [glow=red,2,300][/glow]![](http://home.ripway.com/2005-2/257758/barflowr.gif) Oooh! This is so fun! 2 messages! You guys are so nice! Yea, I'm listening...and my shrimp salad was my own creation, and I laid it all out in a shallow dish, just like they do in the nicer restaurants....and it was nicer...and I'm getting nicer...Aren't we nice. Debbie, that is one of my goals...to wear a skirt again, with a waist...and a belt... I love to dance, but it's no fun in pants. My father-in-law was a retired Air Force Colonel, he and MIL looked like Clark Gable and Ginger Rogers, dressed up for the military balls. "Them were the good 'ole days", in my opinion. Pat, I took a nap and probably missed the live chat today...a new revelation (to me anyway):...you don't have to put sweetener on plain yogurt. I had green grapes with it and a banana, was going to put some honey as I did when I started CORE....then I thought, "Maybe if I just stir this around a bit, the banana will make it sweet"...and it did. Amazing! About an hour later, I was still hungry, so I had a bowl of shredded wheat with Silk soy milk (plain)....same thing...the Silk is sweet enough, and the sweetness of the grain comes out if you let it sit for a minute. Does this sound crazy? Or who cares? It was a big revelation to me! Ha Ha. I have to go shopping now...getting mango, Laughing Cow Lite, ....my groceries are sure lasting a lot longer on CORE... I got some cookbooks...the bargain books at Walden's Books--buy 4/get 1 FREE...Chinese, Japanese, French, Wok, and Vegetarian. Here's another revelation....all of these people are CORE...CORE is nothing new. Even if they use cream or butter or sugar, it is like a Tbsp. for a whole huge recipe. And the recipes are not hard, as I imaged...nice big full color pictures.... and by the way, the pictures aren't making me binge on anything. I'm going to try a few, starting with French recipes...then if they're good I'll share them. I just keep remembering, if I am hungry, I can eat something...I just had a nice juicy orange awhile ago. I'll be back to post my evening....thanks everyone for checking in on my Journal...I so appreciate the encouragement. What I had today:BREAKFAST: ff plain yogurt & grapes & banana A BIT LATER: Shredded Wheat w/ Silk (soy milk-plain) A BIT LATER: a sweet juicy orange EVENING: baby carrots dipped in yogurt w/ranch seasoning THEN: 2 Tillapia (fish) filets, fried in 2 tsp. olive oil w/same yogurt/ranch sauce LATER (evening snack): Pumpkin Custard .....made with Silk, Egg Beaters, spices, pumpkin, and 1/4 c. honey (instead of 1 3/4 c. sugar) (1 WPA per serving) [glow=red,2,300][/glow][glow=red,2,300] MY HOT TIP OF THE DAY:[/glow] Wear a flower in your hair!
