Thanks for the idea.
I'm a great fan of the tomato paste in a tube (like toothpaste). It seems to have a better flavour but maybe that's just my imagination.

I also buy the tube. I only buy a can if I need the entire amount. However, I have frozen a half can's worth in a 1/2 cup plastic container, thawed it, used what I needed, and refrozen it. Doesn't seem to harm the tomato paste. I do the same with chicken stock.

What a terrific idea! I'd never thought about it, either I've never seen the tomato paste in tubes, but I'm going to look for it, too.

I freeze ice cubes of leftover herbs too! I hate having to throw away my homegrown herbs because I haven't used it all. I have some cilantro in my cube tray right now!

LOL at myself! I made the spaghetti bolognese from the TurnAround cookbook the other day, and only needed 1 tablespoon of tomato paste. It never even crossed my mind to freeze it in ice cube trays!
Heading to the kitchen now to freeze it before it starts growing a life of its own! Thanks!

What brand(s) are the tomato paste in a tube? Where have you seen it? I have limited freezer space , but I love the idea of the tubes as a way to avoid wasting a can when I need a tablespoon. Thanks
