What a beautiful story Rita. Thanks for sharing. I think your son is lucky to have you. Funny how life works out:)

Rita, how lovely that your family was part of bringing your son into your life. Does he still live with you, or are you empty nesting now?

He lives with me. He's had some developmental and learning problems, so I expect he'll be living with me for a while. He was in special ed all through school, and finished high school a year ago with what's called an IEP diploma (not a real hs diploma). He's been taking some classes at BOCES vocational school, and is now working at Target. He's doing pretty well there actually. But he still has a long way to go as far as getting financial independence and living on his own. Someday he will though.

Hi All
I am new to the board, and noticed the "adoption" thread. I gave my daughter up for adoption at birth in 1970, and we were reunited in 1994, and have never been happier. Both her adoptive parents have passed on, and she and I are the best of friends.
It is like she was never out of my life. She was an only child and is delighted when she found out she had two brothers.
It couldn't have worked out better. We are both so happy, and we both filled a "void" in our lives when we met.
She will be 36 in April, and I have to say she is my best friend.

My husband and I will be adopting a little girl from China within the next two years. We have all the paperwork we need to get it rolling, and just need to have physicals in order to submit our application.
